  1. most important of all, have fun, if you're not enjoying it it will come across in your set
  2. thats exactly what i was tihnking ive noticed in alot of songs there will be the 'banging' bit, then there will be a quiet melodic stage and then the main baning bit will come again again (dont know the proper technical terms ) would it be a bad idea to play that slow melodic section? or once again, is it alll upto how you want the set to go and the energy of it all comes down to your own style man, some ppl love doing the quick cuts of chorus to chorus to keep it banging throughout the entire set, some people like doing your more standard intro into outro mixing, some like dropping acapellas on melodic non vocal tracks, some ppl bust out their sample pads and go nuts and some do all of the above and get real creative, just comes down to what you enjoy few basic rules should never be broken though: make sure its beatmatched (duh!) dont abuse the efx on the mixer! make sure your phrases match up never do vocals on vocals try not to let the outro play on its own, ie, if your letting the outro play make sure you have a track mixing into it otherwise you will kill all the energy and its hard to regain the good vibe once the flow is gone
  3. just be careful not to mix to frequently can be frustrating for the avg punter to just start getting into a song then it goes into another
  4. mind if promote this on my fanpage?? or this just for us cool cats?
  5. biiiigggg upppps man and +rep a 1000 if i could. I use these and they are simply an amazing set of cans, people need to get on this, now
  6. ? really. didnt the issue of driver issues disapper with windows 98? other then updating firmware (which i know essentially has the driver in there, which is mainly plug & play anyway) i dont think ive heard of a driver issue since i bought a desktop back in 2001 where a video camera i had said it wasnt compatible with my win 98 OS, and i just hit OK on every pop up and it still worked fine. still have the issues bro, for non tech heads macs are just easier, plus they're the industry standard
  7. mac or bust, no driver issues, no fuss
  8. has to be minimum 5 songs imo
  9. umm a mix is more than 2 songs, just sayin, has to be at least 5
  10. if my ears start bleeding when i listen to it, you're disqualified
  11. welcome buddy!
  12. shameless self plug here, but if your lookin for a good structured set check out my june mix http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... pic&t=6047 you can get some ideas of the song choice/structure, and check out top of page 2 for dims comments basically i really wanted to work on this set taking you on a journey, it starts out banging with your well known high energy femme vocals to get you all loved up and in the mood, then switches up energy with some chill beats with "get up" then brings it back home with the final track "carry me home" with femme vocals to leave a nice lovey dovey feeling you only really need to start worrying about that when you make full length mix cds (60 mins +) and its a very hard thing to get right, that june set came out a lot better than expected and i feel i got lucky with the songs just falling into the right place
  13. haha wig out room sounds sic
  14. fuck son first you drop 4 tabs, wait an hour or so bust a cap or two of the finest MDMA you can procure, then in 2 or three hours when you stop rolling like a Noisia track, bump a line or two of K.....yh that should about do it. (if symptoms persist see your chemist) i never dj fucked up, at most ill have my trademark 3 courage scotch and drys just to loosen up a bit, always wait till i finish my set, cause when i get fucked up, i get fucked up besides, i dont need drugs to get high when im spinning the wheels, natural high > drug high all day err day
  15. haha yea can be frustrating/daunting when you first get into it, performing has always been my first passion and now thast ive got a bit of exposure, i wanna have a crack at doing some producing like i said im very fortunate that i did musical theory with my piano, certainly helps a lot, plus im also lucky in the fact that i know ppl in the industry who are always willing to help, whether it be getting me bedhinf the decks at the clubs or helping me with production
  16. i always said once i mastered cdjs and feel comfortable playing out in the clubs on the 2000s/900's id always treat myself to vinyl i wanted to get into vinyl straight away but knew i had to go cdjs first because they are the industry standard and wanted some air time in clubs, now im comfortable with that its time to get my wax on
  17. starting to get into producing now as well, thats a whole different kettle of chips, good fun though music theory is def coming in handy
  18. fuck thats aweomse dude how much do you practise? ive owned decks for a year, but they've kinda jsut sat there collecting dust whiel i finished HSC been gettin back into it properly within the last month (LOVE uni holidays) haha added a little bit extra just before you quoted it i pretty much practise every weekend, every month i record a episode of Gandyland which i perform live and record, upload to soundcloud for my fans for a free download and burn between 80-100 mix cds which i hand out at the clubs/workplace/any local shops i frequent. i jsut have a general love for music so for me, gettin behind the decks is a good release for me, i just love everything there is to it, and getting behind the decks at the clubs watching the dfloor go nuts at peak hour is a natural high no drug can replicate, the feeling is indescribable, thats the reason i wake up every morning, to experience that gotta have a reason to get up every morning imo
  19. just under 8 months in that time i came runner up in my first dj comp and have played out 3 times in a nightclub , plus doing monthly mixes that i record and burn to cd to hand out to all my friends plus consistently getting over 60 hits per month on my soundcloud including international listners from the UK, America and Portugal have been very fortunate to know ppl in the industry and to have also had a very solid musical background before getting into djing, doing piano for 3 years and reaching level 5 in music/piano theory
