  1. I will be doing all sorts of jobs so I am actually just thinking now maybe 2 sets would be handy? A cheap set for the crazy alcohol fuelled 18th & 21sts so maybe something from JB or JayCar and then get a good quality set for weddings, corporate stuff etc. I would rather spend a few extra hundred and get something that sounds awesome then be tight and put up with mediocre quality. Because I am in early days of getting all my gear set up I get a bit excited about all the cool shit I can buy!!
  2. I just cant work out why it is at least 5 times louder than my normal channels? I have it hooked into the 1&2 input. So I can get it to play ok by pressing the source 1 button on the RMX but it seriously blasts out so loud its insane??
  3. So, Im in the market for a set of powered speakers plus maybe sub (might be able to add that in later when I get more cash) I do mainly mobile stuff so I need something fairly portable, sturdy, but I dont want to compromise sound quality. I have been looking at Mackie's from StoreDJ http://www.storedj.com.au/products/MAC-PK-SRM450V2 Just wanted to throw it out there and get some opinions/advice?
  4. I wasnt sure where to post this, hope here is ok?? So, I have a Denon DNS700 I want to connect to my Hercules RMX in case my computer shits itself or I wanna play CD's etc etc Anyhoo. I have connected it all up got it all working but I have no control over the sound volume coming out of it? It literally blasts out so freaking loud...I am pretty new to this all this and am sure it is set up right? Anyone else using a Hercules able to give a clue? Ta

So, can anyone tell me if they have insurance and who with? I'm struggling to find a company who will do it
  6. So just wondering how you guys organise your digital music collection? One massive folder? By artist? Genre? My collection is an absolute shambles!!!! HELPPP!
  7. It is a small world we live in! Who is your cousin? I have found a bit of a market for people/businesses etc looking for a female DJ so hopefully it goes well!
  8. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! As for my gear, I was using equipment supplied by the guy I worked for, but Im off to StoreDJ in Sydney this Saturday to buy all new stuff for myself, needless to say I am very excited! Who knows what I will come home with! Pics to come fo' sure!
  9. Hey everyone I joined mid year and went MIA for a while but now I am back and about to start my mobile DJ biz on the Central Coast NSW. I have done a few gigs working for a friend and have been lucky to line up quite a bit of work so I have decided to make a go of it. Being fairly new I am full of questions and eager to learn so bear with my millions of questions and thanks in advance for helping a chick out! If anyone has name idea for my biz I am really struggling to come up with something so I am all ears...As long as it doesnt have DJ in it!
  10. Thank you frangahat welcoming committee!!!!
  11. Wow, Im getting such great advice, I am really enjoying what everyone has to say, thank you so much! In terms of what types of jobs I am marketing, I am really not picky. I have already done about 10 or so jobs, ranging from a 21st, a MMA fight night through to a corporate function and a wedding. Weddings are great and easy coin but I really dont want to restrict what I do for now, I want to get as much experience and exposure as possible. Once I develop I might look at a niche market...Right now though, I just want to get as much experience as possible. My music collection is already fairly substantial, I have had a massive love of music for as long as I can remember so all I need to worry about there is the legalities of it all. Im in NSW, Central Coast, so looking at a geographical market of Central Coast and perhaps Newcastle and the Hunter (heaps of weddings at the wineries!) All I need is my tax refund to hit my account and then its shopping time!!
  12. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Has definately given me some food for thought!! So my $4000 budget has to cover everything! So I'm talking not only my mixer/controller, but also my speakers, stands, lights, headphones, wireless mics and leads and whatever else I may need to complete the set up. What I am hoping to do is get something simple and practical to start out using, but also has the ability to do more complex stuff as my skills progress. If any other mobile DJ's out there can suggest what kind of lights and other gear I might want to look at feel free to suggest away! Thaks again everyone! Really appreciate the help!
  13. Hey all Im pretty much a total beginner stepping into the world of DJing. I have done a few mobile dj jobs, working for another guy, but have decided to branch out on my own and learn more about mixing. So I am in the market for a complete new set up, and its all very exciting! Looking forward to learning from you all and sharing my nooby experiences with you as I venture my way through!! Oh, and just a pre warning, I will be asking an absolute s**tload of questions!!
  14. I was looking at getting a Hercules RMX to work in conjunction with Virtual DJ on my Mac
  15. Hi everyone I am a female looking to make my way into the world of DJing. I have been doing a fair bit of reading about equipment and where I should start and I just wanted to clarify why is everyone so opposed to the use of software/computers instead of cd players? For me personally, I have started out in the world of mobile DJing and am looking at using my mac purely due the ease of transporting the thousands of tracks I would need in my collection that people might request at parties etc. I know most of you guys will be club DJs and use cds, I just wanted to hear a bit more more about the cons of using a computer and your thoughts on what would be most suitable for what I am looking to achieve. I have been working for someone else and have done all my jobs so far using some really awful gear, really basic push play kinda stuff and I am definately looking to go out on my own and to progress and do some 'proper' DJing. I have a start up budget of around $4000 - I already have my macbook pro so I will need everything else - Looking forward to your replies.
