  1. Im up for a bi weekly friday night show 1 hour Would be 2 of Sydneys cutting edge DJs (Mick Beltrame and Pride ) Can do mixes - chat - interviews with djs promoters etc Possibly even giveaways if my sponsors are up for it. Could maybe even do a 2 hour and have feature mixes by some of Sydney's / Aus's finest Warm up with adjf radio before heading out
  2. Crazzzzzy Parties. Although the hard style movement seems to be pretty quiet at the mo'. Maybe they realised that 90% of the tracks they produce / play, ALL SOUND THE SAME. lol
  3. Do you play down in Melbs? If so, whereabouts?
  4. All depends on the venue. Some places will laugh at you if you ask for a % of Bar. Others will offer. Its a hard one but when I do events (if its at a new venue) I will arrange for me to take the door and they keep the bar. If it goes well for a few nights and they are doing REALLY well on the bar then I will renegotiate the terms. A good idea though is to start out with the intent to break even (if that). Dont do it for the money, do it for the love. Then hopefully love will turn into money
  5. Starting rate generally around $50 p/hour The more popular you get you can start charging more. All depending on the night / club / Location and ticket sales etc, I will charge between $100 - $200 p/hour But I play for free as well. All depends if there is money in the event etc. Lots of variables to think about but I hope I have helped
  6. Count me in Can do either trance, techno or electro Good to see this up and running
  7. Well f**k me sideways
  8. Really??? I had no idea :S
  9. Nah from Sydney but play up there from time to time (Valley and GC) Wouldnt mind a Set at the Beat. Do they still have the car in the back room?

There are video's that you can buy online and from central station etc that walk you through the different scratching techniques like the chirp and the fade etc Demonstrates how to hold your hands and what to do with the fader etc. Which brings me full circle get some beers and the video / dvd and your mates around and go nuts.
  12. Hell Yeah man Check out these events Lost baggage @ The Cross [The Box] @ Bunker Faction @ Bunker Sweetchilli Events (All over the place) Sunday School @ Bunker & Paul Strange has been getting some big ass internationals at the arthouse this week is Derrick Carter so bit techy etc but they will have some techno djs playing aswell
  13. Just thought I would see who's floating your techno boat these days? I love dubfire and huntemann etc Who's techno treats make your mouth water?
  14. I wouldnt really call Dave guetta a dj. Producer maybe but not dj (not from when I saw him anyway lol) FBS - Come on. The man is the king. He does beatmix (maybe not well) but he still does. And again, FBS got his name from Producing as well. Also the thing about FBS is that he re-works all his tracks so he offers something that no-one else can. FBS produced remixes (which are the ducks nuts). have a look under his pizzaman alias. Some good produced stuff there too. A little more underground than 'Praise You'

I dont know if I would bother with lessons. I honestly think your better off finding someone who does mix well and mix with them. I used to go record shopping with mates and my bro and then all head back to my place and go nuts on the decks. people have different techniques etc but you can always 'Steel With Pride' How long you been mixing? What stage are you at? Can you beatmix etc?

Sounds really good. Will be in contact over the next couple of days to arrange a time to come in and see you Have a good crew of djs in mind too
  21. Caleupe - Do you have any stuff that I can listen to that you have done?
  22. So whats it like? Would you recommend (my spelling is sh!t house lol) I think it gets worse with age haHA
  23. I cant say I agree with that. If I go out and hear good tune after good tune but each time with a trainwreck in between then I will leave and find somewhere that books REAL djs. Work on the flow of Music There are different transition techniques you can do when mixing tracks try cutting and fading (use all your levels and x fader to get a smooth blend) You HAVE to be able to match beats. Thats Imperitive (check spelling). If you have a good ear for music then you can train yourself to mix in key (mixing tracks that are made in the same key (sound)) It really all depends on what you want to mix. If your mixing hip hop and r&b (and breaks to a certain extent) then not so much emphasis on beat matching and more on cutting and scratching etc (but you still have to know how to beat match) Mixing House, trance etc you want to hold that mix for 2 minutes sometimes (even more) so if your a little bit out - Its a mess Best tip is just to get in your room and go nuts. Play and play an play and play. When your over it and you want to sell your set up, mix some more. Practice practice practice. Even find someone who you know that is a good dj and ask them to mix with you (at home). I picked up alot of techniques playing b2b sets and just watching other djs. Hope this helps
  24. The Beat is a wicked little club IMO Does anyone have a contact for a promoter of friday or / and saturday nights? Please pm me if so
