Further to the original question, what program do people use to rip from CD to computer? What do people recommend or want to warn not to use?

There are so many things to consider, ranging from not only the type of music you play (mainly Top 40, classic hits from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's depending on the age of the guests), but: the way you present yourself (minimum shirt & tie), the pre-event meeting (to discuss all issues and answer any questions they may have, including music selection), knowing the schedule of events on the night (get a copy of their running sheet), whether they expect you to MC or if they have their own MC (and are you able to MC if asked), whether they want lighting or not (it may come down to the location of the dance floor in relation to the guests' tables), their choice for the bridal waltz (I usually ask for their top 3 choices and then play all three - with their first choice as the actual BW - before speeding the music up), any specific theme for the night (and this may determine the music they want), any specific cultural or religious requirements. Not trying to scare you but just to show that there is a lot invollved with playing a successful wedding reception than just turning up and playing music.

Kudos to him. To put himself out there on Youtube. Reading some of the feedback to some fo his clips he does get a lot of haters coming up with some seriously nasty shit. Yet he still makes his vids and he still posted them out there. And if he can get a little fame and fortune, why not.

welcome to the clan :-)

Have you guys checked out some of his clips on Youtube? Some he sings, some he lip syncs. Funny as!

But the DNMC6000 doesn't have a built in hard drive or optical drive. Looks like this is a stand alone unit that doesn't need a lappy or other software. Could be just the thing for a mobile DJ setup.

To compare the different versions of Traktor check here http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-pro/?page=619&gclid=CLGI78730qYCFQbhbgodpFwu2w

Not at the moment. I'll take some this weekend and post them up.

My stand and top (shown above) folds away flat. And it's really easy to carry in/out of a venue.

I've played in some weird booths... but seriously...
Funky_Steve replied to CBG's topic in DJ Headquarters
I've seen a parking-lot pay booth used as a DJ booth. Also, years ago up in Surfers there was a club (The Penthouse I think) that used a snub-nosed truck cabin as a booth. Looked cool sitting beside the dancefloor. -
From Pioneer website: Introducing 2 new controllers: the DDJ-T1 will offer Pioneer operability to users of TRAKTOR DJ software, while the DDJ-S1 does the same for Serato ITCH. posted 6 January 2011 A perfect integration of each software's functionality and our leading-edge hardware, the controllers offer the same operability and layout as our pro-DJ equipment – whilst enabling DJs to play music files from the computer. http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/content/press/news/DDJ-controllers.html

From the info about the DJM2000: For additional convenience, the MASTER output can be connected directly to a computer for recording(*6) of performances. *6 - CD-ROM included. The USB audio interface function can be used after software is installed on the computer. So while you can't record directly to a USB stick, it does allow you to digitally record your set.

Best to go to a DJ shop and try each of them out. Headphones are such a personal choice. What one person may think are great cans, another may think are shit. Plus everyone hears things slightly differently too.

I heard something somewhere about a mixer too. But don't hold me to it.

From Pioneer Australia Facebook page: STOP THE PRESS! Pioneer DJ is scheduled to make a major product announcement at 7pm tonight (Aus Time). Any guesses as to what it is??
-
Yeah, they played at East on Saturday night and then up to Brisvegas on Sunday before flying back home to Europe. Sounds like they went off on both nights. I hope they come back soon.

welcome to the active world.

DJaz keep in contact with this club. If their one DJ gets sick or can't work for whatever reason, they may need a back-up DJ. And if you're available on short notice, who knows where it may lead.

They must have been desperate for company. Obvioulsy not much to do in Gladstone after dark . lol Sounds like you had a great night. How was their set? And how the hell do they DJ with boxes on their heads?? I saw they playing on the Gold Coast last night.
