  1. The Prognosis crew is back in April to once again turn Loop on its head with a shenanigan packed night loaded with audio and visual treats. Brisbane's own Verve will be making the trip down to unleash some of his emotive, melodic, groovy progressive. Taking the world by storm with his productions and his DJ sets, Verve has been hand picked to share his take on the sound that the Prognosis massive love. An honor to have such a talented young artist join the Prognosis ranks, this will be special. Melbourne's own Trent McDermott will be making his Prognosis debut in a set that will no doubt confirm why he is so highly regarded both in Australia and across the globe. Trent's eclectic music taste has seen his career last over a decade and his dedication to the scene is clear to see. This set will see Trent delve into an enormous collection of tunes and wind the BPM's back and deliver some gems that he has been hanging to play. Rounding out this epic lineup, regulars Herc Kass and Alex David will be digging deep to show why they continue to turn heads with their take on all things techno, house and progressive. Residents J-Slyde and Aaron Static will hold down the fort with their blends of musical madness and Vdmo Kstati will provide the visual delights in what is set to be another HUGE night. ------------------------------------------------------------ LINEUP: ------------------------------------------------------------ Verve (BRIS / FutureForm / Particles / Lowbit) https://soundcloud.com/verve Trent McDermott (Prog Set) https://soundcloud.com/trentmcdermott Herc Kass http://soundcloud.com/herc-kass Alex David https://soundcloud.com/alex-butler-sideprojekt/ Aaron Static https://www.facebook.com/aaronstatic J-Slyde http://www.facebook.com/jslyde ------------------------------------------------------------ VISUALS: vdmo Kstati ------------------------------------------------------------ WHEN: Saturday, 20th April - 10:00pm til late ------------------------------------------------------------ WHERE: Loop - 23 Meyers Place ------------------------------------------------------------ PRICE: 100% FREE!! ------------------------------------------------------------ http://substancesounds.net/ http://facebook.com/substancesounds http://twitter.com/substancesounds

  3. May we introduce Jamie Stevens! Jamie Stevens has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of Australia's most talented and sought after music producers, he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary dance music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian electronic live act, he's left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha - Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work. His productions are no stranger to praise from the biggest names in the industry: Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Danny Howells and Thomas Schumacher have all been supporters of the Jamie Stevens sound. These finely tuned club remixes appear regularly on seminal radio shows BBC1's 'Essential Mix' and John Digweed's 'Transitions'. Always wanting to create those special moments in the peaks and the plateaus, Jamie's DJ performances are laced with his own specially produced re-edits, tools and loops. His sets are best described as an hyper-energetic expression of his personality, always charged with all-important tension and atmosphere.

  9. Coming off our most successful event to date, with bar records smashed and a rocking crowd dancing and drinking way past stumps, we’re gearing up to do it all over again come August 18th! Intent on continually pushing the bar, we knew something special had to be done to top our last edition. As such, we’re very excited to welcome our first international to the decks, SOULFIRE. A liverpool-born producer, Soulfire has been on the production front since early 2003. With runaway success, the man shortly thereafter launched his own label, Soulfire Downloads. The label’s releases, which have boasted hard-hitting remixes from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Stan Kolev, Soundexile, Spirit Catcher, Jet Project, Juan Deminicis, Deepfunk and Marcelo Vasami have been supported by many of the world’s leading DJs including: Sasha, John Digweed, Pryda, Hernan Cattaneo and Pete Tong – to name but a select few. To say we’re in safe hands, would be an understatement! We also welcome back Prognosis favourites, Herc Kass and Jules Plees, whom on their previous Prognosis-outings, did nothing short of blow the roof off of Loop. Not content in letting things slide, we also welcome Darkbeat faithful, Andrew Slattery, for his first set at Loop under the Prognosis banner! Visual duties for the evening will be handled by the extremely talented VJ Pied Piper, who’s been on a pilgrimage for some next-level-imagery! Come join us as we offer up the next chapter in forward thinking night-life! Free entry as always, first beat drops at 10pm. 12. A little info on the guy they call, James Brooke.... James Brooke’s interest in dance music was spiked at the mere age of 12. Previously immersed in more alternative sounds, his older sister exposed him to a different style of music. BT ‘Movement in Still Life”, Prodigy “Fat of the Land”, and Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto were on constant rotation at home. Once hearing this, James was hooked. At age 16 he sold his bass guitar, left the band he was involved in and went out and purchased some decks and a mixer and taught himself how to mix. Inspired by local gun’s Phil K and Nubreed, James initial genre of choice was breaks. However, feeling the urge to take his tastes and sets further, he started exploring many other genres and styles. He discovered he loved them all. Not content to pigeonhole himself into one box, James is now a very versatile DJ. Progressive, trance, breaks and techno are mixed seamlessly together, making sure even the most fickle crowds are kept entertained and rocking. The last four years have seen James arrival into the Melbourne dance scene. Rocking many of Melbourne’s top nightclubs such as Room680, Brown Alley, My Aeon, Miss Libertines, Wah Wah Lounge and many more. He has supported international DJ’s BT, Tiesto, Agnelli & Nelson, Sander Van Doorn, Matt Darey, Marco V, Sean Tyas, Roger Shah, Simon Patterson, Richard Durand, Leon Bolier, Sied Van Riel & many more. He has played at Trance Energy & Earthcore. With residencies at White Sands, Nexus and Loose, this young talent has successfully established himself as one of the local scene’s gems. James Brooke is without a doubt a crowd pleaser, intuitively understanding and reading the crowd is his specialty - He always seems to know what tracks to play that will keep the dance floor in motion. Smiling faces, dancing feet and head’s bumping, no chin strokers to be seen. It’s this impressive set of skills that have seen James chosen to compile discs on CD’s such as Godskitchen, In Trance We Trust Australia, and the official Sensation Australia compilation as well. Feat’s normally achieved by only the most established internationals – or their equal. The start of 2008 saw James launch his own record label, 405 Recordings. Already gaining the support of countless local and international dj’s, label features such names as, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, BT, Cosmic Gate, alongside local guns, Aaron Camz, Trent McDermott, Brendan B and many others. 405 Recordings has grown to be Australia’s biggest and best Trance label, with countless CD releases and an even bigger digital stable of tracks and releases. Toward the end of 2010 James launched his very own radio show called ‘Elements’ on Melbourne’s dance music radio station Kiss FM, which airs Saturday nights from 9 – 10:30pm. Featuring weekly guest DJ’s, interviews and exclusive new tunes. He has already had names such as Ferry Corsten, Richard Durand, Mark Sherry, Timo Maas, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Aly & Fila and many more. Make sure you tune in as it’s quite an impressive show. Keep an eye on James as this is only just the beginning of things to come.
  13. Oh, the weather outside is frightful But Loop Bar’s so delightful Since Prognosis is the place to go Let’s smash it out to listening to tasty tunes! Ok, so if horrible rhyming was a crime, we’d be doing time buuuut whatcha gonna do?! The mildly crazy crew down at Prognosis are back for their June soirée and have assembled another stellar lineup of musical maestros to perform for you. After obliterating Loop on his last Prognosis visit, the Prince himself, PQM, is back to treat us to a journey through his musical musings. Joining him, Elements Radio and 405 Recordings head honcho James Brooke makes his long overdue Prognosis debut with a whole stack of auditory weapons. Next up we have dusty dance-floor expert Fabel whose immense music knowledge shines through in every delicately crafted set. And back once again to kick off the ruckus is beat-master Taran M who'll be opening up proceedings from 9pm, with his unique blend of spaced out glitch. Fresh off their global broadcast on Frisky Radio, Prognosis residents J-Slyde, Simon Murphy & Aaron Static will also be bringing their blend of beats to the table. The trio have been known to whip the crowd into a frenzy with their genre-bending explorations of all things melodic and progressive. And of course no Prognosis would be complete without the inspiring visual wizardry of vdmo Kstati and his transfixing artistic displays. And because we can’t possibly cram all these shenanigans into our usual time slot, we will be opening an HOUR EARLIER at 9PM - so get down early and stay till late. You’re not going to want to miss a beat! 23. Danny Bonnici Bio.... Recently name checked as “one of the hottest names in dance music” by DJ Mag, over the past 6 years Danny Bonnici has been at the forefront of the world’s dance music scene. Working with his band Nubreed to bring people the sound of now, Danny has amazed audiences with his raw stage presence and crowd-pleasing performances. Now as a solo artist he’s truly coming into his own with I-DJ Mag, Ibiza Online and DJ Mag all signing praises for his world-class production/engineering & dj’ing. What we know as true, they know also know: Danny delivers the goods; with his own style of dirty 4/4. Danny’s collaborative efforts saw him co-produce the 2003 hit “Ride” with friend Luke Chable, this tune was a huge hit in the scene giving Danny international recognition further to his efforts with Nubreed. With his own release "Return to Saturn" featured on Luke Chable’s 2006 Renaissance CD and its solid vinyl release to follow short after, such tight productions have seen Danny nominated for a Dance Music Award and an Aria Award in previous years. He has also done collaborations with renowned producer and engineer Andy Page - the result of which Vermouth appears on the Nubreed Y4K.With a string of original and remixed works under his belt Danny’s music is being played by the biggest Djs in the world including Sasha, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and too many more to even mention. His latest efforts in 2010 include collaboration’s with Anthony Pappa and releases on labels such as Long Distance Recordings and Audio Therapy. Danny Bonnici has been involved in releasing three mix compilations in 2006, all of which have been received with applause from the dance music press. The first with Nubreed for Distinctive Y4K saw them tour Australia nationally in support of the compilation. The second, for popular local label Stomp’s Electric Series saw King Unique take on one CD, whilst Danny (as part of Nubreed) took on the other. The third was a mix compilation with Luke Chable for new Australian label Hiddenform. His love of production and engineering has meant he’s quick on the uptake of new technology as Danny has become one of the first Australian DJ’s to exclusively use Ableton Live in his DJ sets and not just in the studio. Taking what he’s learn t on the road back to the studio again, Danny is one of the only qualified Ableton Live teachers in the country. His recent endorsement agreement with the company in Australia means that Danny is one of 4 Australian producer/ DJs to be featured by the company as their preferred endorse e and Artist of choice to support. This year he has been devastating dance floors across the country from Sydney to Melbourne, Cairns & Perth and Asia, Europe and the USA. In fact, 2006-2010 has been the years in which Danny has made leaps and bounds into new musical realms, along the way firmly establishing himself as a strong solo artist/engineer in his own right.
  24. UNDER ONE ROOF & SUBSTANCE PRESENT PIG & DAN (Bulletdodge, Cocoon recordings / ESP) Tickets on Sale now: http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=55971 Looking back, the meeting of minds during a chance encounter of Igor Tchkotoua (Pig) and Dan Duncan on a flight to Spain in 1999, sounds like the opening scene of a Hollywood movie, certainly neither musician could have the written the script of what happened next. Recognizing a mutual philosophy, and using their own musical background that dated back to the start of the dance scene, they combined to create a slick production outfit that would entrance clubbers and soon win compilation support from the likes of Sander Kleinenberg, Felix Da Housecat, John Digweed and Nic Fanciulli. Most significantly though, their tech tour de force ʻOh Yeahʼ (2005) signaled the start of their ongoing relationship with Cocoon Recordings, which has seen their status as DJs and producers soar on a global level. From humble beginnings in late 80s, playing the tea boy and exploring the workings of a recording studio, both Igorʼs & Danʼs experiences stem from an era of primitive technology and old fashioned production techniques. Danʼs own history saw him as part of the hugely successful drum ʻnʼ bass act ʻIntenseʼ, during which time he also played alongside luminaries such as LTJ Bukem and Fabio & Grooverider. When Pig&Dan decided to join forces, they began a truly prolific production schedule – with 18 releases in just over year – establishing their reputation as producers of pulsating electronic music that straddled dark house and high energy techno whilst creating their signature of twisted and experimental breakdowns. These releases on their label Submission would prove to be merely a stepping stone though. In 2005, they commenced Sonic Society and focused more toward the edgy minimal that would attract Cocoon Recordings, as well as all the leading jocks such as Sven Vath, Loco Dice and Tiefschwarz. As testament to their continued master production skills, the disturbingly dark ʻOh Yeahʼ has been followed by 8 more releases on the seminal Frankfurt imprint, including their own artist album, ʻImagineʼ. During this time, their profile as in-demand remixers has reached the point where such electronic pioneers as Underworld were coming back for more! Stand still too long and youʼll be knocked down, so the latest twist in the Pig&Dan story sees Igor (aka Pig) coming back to the wheels of steel and joining Dan after a long break in rehab. The Duo are stronger than ever and have recently brought their new label "ONOLOG" to the Techno stage. Pig&Dan are currently involved with collaborations with techno masters such as Sephan Bodzin, Mark Reeve, Samuel L Sessions, Gustavo Bravetti, MiniCoolBoyz, Mihalis Safras and Butch to mention a few. The new leaf has been turned with their ONOLOG upbringing plus their big move to DJ management masterminds Plantage13. Now theyʼre set for yet another rocket around the globes club and festival venues projecting their positive sounds. It is clear that After opening Cocoon club for 2011 with a capacity venue rocking, their schedule is going to be yet another year of good times shared by the masses. Pig&Dan ́s favorite labels Cocoon and Terminal M are at the ready for yet another landslide of monster releases so watch and of course listen out, there is a party in the air.
