  3. Yeh man, smart move. Cover the entire thing up, or atleast try to only use it as a rough guide. Most of the time they'll be out.
  4. My only advice, especially to newbies whom are starting out with CDJs that have a BPM counter = COVER THE BPM COUNTER UP. Learning to beat match by ear is a fundamental skill that should be learnt early on when DJing. Relying on BPM counters is a really bad practice. Beginning to see it more and more with CDJ DJs. So sad.
  5. They would've been referring to the quality of the MP3 file you are burning. If you plan on playing out, I would only recommend you play with MP3s at 320kbps quality. I've no idea how iTunes is with burning CDs, but I stray away from it as i run windows and itunes doesnt tend to play nice with it. I find Nero is best for all of my burning needs - never had a problem with it. Swear by it. I only ever burn Audio CDs too - fairly uncommon at the moment to encounter MP3 compatible CDJs at every club around town.
  6. Purely self taught. Good mate threw me his old setup - a really really bad American audio Mixer and turntable combo. I started to buy records and practiced my ass off. Few years later I purchased my own set-up and have never looked back Basic beat mixing really isnt that hard to learn. Once you have that down everything else comes pretty easily.
  7. Set times have all been sorted! Looking to be one SHIT HOT night! 8. A little info about.... Daniel Farley There’s isn’t much Daniel Farley hasn’t done in his home country (The Home Of The Lord Of The Rings: New Zealand)when it comes to DJ’ing. In just four short years he had forged his way from bright up and comer to one of the most talented & established names in the NZ scene. This is perhaps earmarked in 2010 by being voted the 1 Electro-House DJ in New Zealand at the Nite:Life awards, the countries largest and most credible DJ awards. But such an award doesn’t describe full spectrum of Daniels sounds and influences, never one to pigeonhole himself into one genre, his upfront sound can range between in the early stages tropical-edged-tech to silky disco-tinged house, to finishing off a night on a more eclectic, driving and occasionally even chaotic tip. A true DJ’s DJ though, Daniel excels at reading the dancefloor and fitting his signature style best to his audiences pleasure, and playing with energy and finesse that is well beyond his years. This diverse range of musical knowledge and taste has seen Daniel and warm up and warm down, for an enormous array of the world’s finest talent, supporting global superstars including Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, & Steve Angello to big-name party-starters like The Crookers, A-Trak , DJ Zinc to some of the coolest house producers of now such as Riva Starr, Bart B More & SOLO. In fact he has supported over 100 A-List internationals at festivals and events across NZ in his time behind the decks. He has held down only the finest of residencies in his home of Auckland including a 3 year residency at the then-infamous CODE nightclub from 2006-2009, before being one of the driving forces behind new hotspot BE for the past 18 months, along with other top residents and promoters taking the club from humble beginnings at it’s openings to playing cutting-edge music to in excess of 1000s every weekend. In addition he has played at every other premium club across New Zealand worth mentioning, and played across the ditch at top venues such as Prince, Chinese Laundry, Tank, Family World, Monastery, & Soho to name a few. Festivals and dance parties? He has done them all in NZ including Summadayze , Rhythm & Vines , Future Music Festival, We Love Sounds , Godskitchen, Ministry Of Sound , Deep Hard N Funky, and many more. His own productions and remixes have also started going from strength to strength and are gaining international acclaim. His original productions have been played from DJs as diverse as Doorly to Renaissance Man, bigupped by the likes of Steve Aoki and the Round Table Knights and his debut release ‘Airbag’ was reviewed by the prestigious iDJ Magazine and rated 9/10 and a must have tune. Also having collaborated with a range of top Australasian artists: Tom Piper, Danny T, Maya & Vanya, Chaos In The CBD, and Tim Corin under their Farley & Corin moniker, and remixed the likes of Kid Dub, Micky Slim, Magik Johnson, & Greg Churchill. Already having releases on labels such as Vacation Records, UK's Dandy Kid, Miami’s Vertical Lift, and his own new imprint Bakehaus Records with fellow Tom Piper, things are only looking up and up production wise with many more hot collaborations and remixes set to drop over the course of 2010. All in all, this Kiwi’s name is on the up & up in every direction and has the goods to prove it, so though he may come from where the land where the hobbits happen to reside, don’t underestimate - go see for yourself! Check him out on Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/danielfarley

  14. Hey all, We've sorted an open glist for the night for any interested in coming down. Just say "SUBSTANCE" at the door and you'll receive $10 entry. Hope that some of you can make it down - should be an awesome night
  15. CosminTRG-Fabric_Podcast_August_2010 Awesome stuff. Like futuristic garage beats. Mad win
  16. Just the angle of the photo. 62's arent that much larger then a DJM800
  17. Yeh, true that man. It's become a fairly commercial genre - for good reason too! That said, there's a only 1 or 2 DJs in the sideroom playing Dubstep, the rest will be covering breaks/hiphop and some house. Should be a nice cover of genres!!
  18. Yeh, me too. They're not trying to be all shiny and distracting - just there to do the job. Mind you, they're around 10? years old... and A&H have since updated the model. I think the new look came out when the 42 was released. Looks pretty cool imo. I reason they did so to combat Pioneer's new releases. Funny to think that the 62 was released when the Pioneer 600 was, which isn't manufactured anymore and seen as a fairly out of date unit. Yet the 62 is still going strong
  19. Cheers man! and yeah, money well spent on the 42. It'll defo outlast any pioneer mixer out there
  20. Nice setup mayne! How farking awesome are the 42s? Good mate of mine has just gotten into DJing and got one for his first setup. I swayed him from getting a second hand DJM800 and he's been well pleased with the purchase. They're such a great mixer
  21. This. A&H mixers are win. So clean, so well built, such great sound.
  22. Here's my setup... Mind the shitty mob photos - will try take some better ones once I get a new digi cam. Better picture taken at my old pad, with the 62 in use: 2 x Technics 1210MK5s 2 x CDJ1000s 1 x CDJ400 (not pictured due to space issues) 1 x DJM800 1 x A&H XONE 62 1 x Pioneer EFX1000 2 x RCF ART310A Once I get the room and some more desk-space, im hoping to daisy chain the 2 mixers and interconnect everything. 1210s hooked up with the 62 / CDJs and EFX unit hooked up with the 800.
  23. Xone 42 2 x CDJ2000s 2 x Technics SL1210M5Gs EFX1000 Some type of awesome Alienware Laptop
