  3. SOUND LOUNGE PART TWO FEATURING PHOTEK (UK) 11PM-3AM SEPT 1ST. HAMER HALL. The Sound Lounge is a pop up event space located in the flagship venue of the performing arts in Victoria, Arts Centre Melbourne. As part of the opening season program for the newly redeveloped Hamer Hall precinct, Arts Centre Melbourne together with Mad Heckler, Stable Music and Heavy Innit will present two electronic music events in the John Truscott designed foyer of Hamer Hall. Part two of the Sound lounge brings you Uk jungle/dnb legend Photek & Composer/Dj/Producer Nitin Sawhney with support from Affiks & A13. PHOTEK (UK) Regarded by many as one of the finest electronic music producers of his generation, the UK’s Rupert Parkes aka Photek stands undeniably on the edge of undiluted inspiration. He garnered huge success in the 90’s and into the new millennium with his own mutant breed of jungle and drum'n'bass, and his 1997 debut album 'Modus Operandi' on major label Virgin is now considered a clubland classic. From his remix work for Mo’Wax to his releases on Metalheadz and his collaborations with Nine Inch Nails and Ray LaMontagne, Photek is always pushing the boundaries of his sound’s and fans’ expectations. Most recently, March 2012 saw Studio K7! release a Photek mix compilation for their highly respected DJ Kicks series. This Melbourne DJ set will be highly anticipated. Expect a broad spectrum of electronic beats from this true pioneer and legend of UK bass culture. http://photek.fm/ NITIN SAWHNEY DJ SET WITH TABLA (UK) Nitin Sawhney is one of the most distinctive and versatile musical voices alive today. Firmly established as a world class DJ and producer Nitin’s DJ sets cross the spectrum of Afro-beat and Dubstep to Asian breakbeat and drum ‘n’ bass. Having cut his teeth at London’s legendary Fabric nightclub, Sawhney has DJ’d at clubs and festivals all over the world and is known for his unique blend drawn from flamenco, Indian classical music, Brazilian style samba and hip-hop. This will be an exclusive Melbourne DJ set accompanied by his tabla player Aref Durvesh. 15. HEAVY INNIT 3RD BIRTHDAY ROXANNE PARLOUR. AUGUST 19. In 2008, Heavy Innit was born into Melbourne’s bass music scene, bringing fresh sub frequencies monthly to Fitroy’s Laundry. Over time, the parties grew, hosting hi-profile international artists such as Joker, Emalkay, Pinch, 16bit, The Others, Roska, Bar 9, Foreign Beggars + many more. As the crowds swelled, the parties moved to wherever the sound system could take the bass and the room could hold the punters. Now, one of the biggest dubstep raves in Australia, Heavy Innit parties are infamous for their colossal line ups, monster sound, and heavy dubstep. To celebrate this milestone we thought we'd keep it in the family, and have invited 15 of the best dubstep & bass music producers from our own backyard for a massive all Australian line up. Never before have there been this many Oz based producers on the same bill at a dubstep rave, so be prepared for an audio assault of the newest sounds spawning out of studios from Brisbane to Bendigo. It all goes down at Roxanne Parlour on August 19 with two rooms of Dubstep, Grime, Uk Garage & 130bpm business. LINE UP Filth Collins (Syd) Spherix Boot (Syd) Sook (Syd) J.
