  1. my recomendation is go and study music production at tafe, absoulet easy course if you can afford a year of smokeing dope in the local park at lunch. they won't teach you how to be the chemical brothers but you will learn the ins and outs of programs whilst meeting a whole bunch of similar minded people. also some piano lessons won't go wasted.
  2. ok so im going home and working for my dad in "bum fuck no where" WA doing labouring and i want to get a fucking slick setup to help prevent thoughts of bordem and suicide. the budget ant dead set, but the more it is the longer i have to wait to get it so i kinda just want to buy piece at a time. also my dad wants my help to cut a few tracks so i can probs "con" him into buying some things presumeing i can i make them apear completely studio friendly and cost effective, i'll be going back to perth everyweekend to see friends and sydney on the odd so geting products isn't a problem. what i disire is a Full Scratch, Practice Mixing(beatmatch type stuff), mash ups + Production set up what i'm thinking of getting pack 1: 2x Denon 3700's, vestax 4 channel mixer(with effects), 1x Technics 1200(probally get second hand) and an MPC 1000 = aprox 4200 pack 2: 2x ICE COLD CUSTOM TECHNICS(referbished second hand inculdeing shipping approx $1300) ,RANE EMPATH gold plated Grandmaster flash edition, serato+ ableton bridge(when it comes out) and some gnarly midi controller = approx $4000 why i like pack 1 is because if i get booked for a party, all i got to do is rock up with the dennons and the mixer, if i get booked for a club all i plan on draging allong is cd's, Battle records to scratch useing 1 of the turntables, and a mpc to drop the odd samples + i going to be use to 3 cue's and standard effects that come with most mixers/ pioneers why i like pack 2 is because its is completely BLING awsomeness. i can simulate the other set up (to some extent) and i can really focus on becomeing a skilled turntablest which is a string i would like to have on my bow and i am going to be more inspired to collect records. over time i might add 2x 1000's/800's/3700's or other little goodies depending on how i feel were if i was to get pack 1 its pretty much all im going to need/ no upgrades What would you do in the situation? whats YOUR dream pack? any product recomendations?
  3. im not an accountant or a tax officer, but my dad is a tax fraud so i know a couple off tricks my very unprofessional opinion would be, just forget it if your getting paid cash, and don't claim the cash either. if your useing your abn and making a decent salary off djing just give it a shot, whats the worst that can happen there only gonna make you pay it back. or if you already gots to see an accountant for other work and tax stuff, just slip it in there and there service should be tax deductible
  4. i wanted a name that started with z so i searched Google for words that start with z, i came across one in particular, Zyklon B, and i played with it sketching like logos and designs without doing much research into it. turns out Zyklon B was the gas the germans used in WW2. i didn't want to seem like a racist bastard so i flipped the letters around and came up with Zyko. i thought Zyko had a nice ring to it but it felt very childish and plan, besides no one says zyko is songs so you can't scratch that in your introduction track. i try'd playing around with people saying psycho and putting z's in front but it didn't work so i just gave up and took psycho
  5. im still new here but thought i'd see if any one was down for some friendly competition. i don't have decks so this is my only means of mixing, no i'm not one of those people who rock up at a party and nerd it out behind some laptop like a wannabee girltalk. i just use it to make little mix tapes/ mash ups/ and of course my own production and for personal kicks nothing else. anyway ableton is a hell of a program and if any one is down to do like a sample battle/ remix battle or some form of competition where people get to show off there skills with the greatest program ever. i think it would be good to see how other people use and abuse the program. i'm thinking like a 5 minute thing, more samples less synth but hell i'll go either way. what do ya'll think hears a little mix tape to get the juices flowing mix _n_ mash.mp3 - 22.62MB its verry mashupy at the start goes more into a mix, one of the first i did just to show my friends that girltalk ant all hes cracked up to be and any one can do it, now i find it quite addictive and fun
  6. hey, i am Psycho im more on the production sort of things but thought i'd sign up anyway as i have dj'd at a few party's and had a mix at qbar(sydney) once, i got really drunk before hand completely crashed, luckily my friend took over and turned out being an awsome night. however saying that i do plan on getting some decks and becoming the worlds greatest dj (in my dreams anyway) i started a blog the other day, haven't uploaded much but still check it out if you want http://kingofmisrule.tumblr.com/ i don't mix or make a certain genre of music, i listen to and am influenced by hip hop, trip hop, ghetto booty, maimi bass, electro/electro clash, some dubstep, dub, reggae, ska, punk, rock n' roll, blues, jazz, soul, rnb(the old school shit), funk and last but not least italo disco. missing a few sup genre type things but you get the idea
