Bit of an update. I got the colour in and went on to wrap the plate. It definitely does look way better than the photoshopped example I put together. Here's the colour draped over the faceplate - it's called matte violet metallic. Trimmed out The metallic in it looks amazing as you move around it. Really happy I decided to go this colour Next on the list; - There have been suggestions of going gold buttons, which I like the idea of. I'm starting to consider that if I do go the gold I can't leave the platter or the tonearm silver. That'll be a paint job as it's not worth the effort of wrapping. The platter has a black strip running through the guts so I'll probably have to paint it with a brush. I'm not sure what I wanna do yet. Let me know what you reckon... - I need to remake all the original labels. Rather than doing it exactly as it was from factory, I'm gonna put the Trump'd logo on it and make all the labels in a cool hand written / brushed style font. Thinking they'll be gloss black but I might too with the idea of the gold. We'll see... - Lastly, reassembly. I'm still a while away from all that, especially if I do all the buttons and stuff gold but I'm hanging out for the end result. Once it's reassembled I can start on the second one.

if they're thing things your looking for they're probably perfect for the scenario. My berry truths from a million years ago have a limiter and dsp built in, which is weird because you'd think higher end models would have that stuff automatically. My Fostex for example don't have any of that and they were about 350 more. Having the features built in is handy for the bedroom guy / hobbyist where rack mounded graphic eq's and limiters are out of the question so from a functionality point of view I'd say go for it. as I said before, without hearing them I couldn't comment too much on the sound but I know there's better sounding speakers on the market but in your situation I'd say these would be perfect

Without hearing them I can't imagine they'd be extra amazing compared to what's already out there. I was never really a fan of the rockit's to start with really. I'd jump on the Yamaha train and get one of the H series monitors. They sound mind

So I've ordered the wrap and I did some photoshopping to get an idea of what it may look like. Not sure if I like it but it'll look better in person! I'll keep that a surprise for now. While I wait for the wrap (there's no stock in WA) I got to cleaning the rest of the parts. Here's a before and after of the start / stop and power cluster. Before After The cleaning products you gotta use will eventually remove the ink on the buttons (as you can see) but there's no way around it and I can live with it tbh. I thought about wrapping the buttons too but it's a pain to get them out and I'm not 100% sure if they'll stick. More updates to follow one I've wrapped the face and put it back together. I just gotta figure out the colour scheme for the rest of the decal and then it'll be 1 down, 1 to go!

Ladies, Gents and esteemed guests; I pulled my turntables out of storage the other week to find that after a year and a half of being tucked away, something ridiculous happened to all the plastics and rubber parts. I'm not sure what caused it but it became all sticky and gross. The base and all the buttons were stuffed. It's like that feeling when you pull off a sticker after a long time and all the adhesive is left behind. I plugged them in to make sure they still work and so far so good but I didn't want to keep them in this condition. After ringing around for parts and such it became increasingly difficult to find anyone who cared. I called the distributer and they said they may have some second hand bits laying around but no bueno so I decided to pull them apart and clean them up myself. Since they were going to be apart, I've decided that I'm going to wrap the faceplate and do the dicer mod! Quick Note - make sure you keep everything labeled! Take lots of photos and put any parts in labeled zip lock bags so the assembly is much easier Here's as they were when I pulled them out of storage You might be able to see the difference in the plastic. The shinier side is where I scrapped a bit of the adhesive off, and the matte is the gunk. So time to dismantle. There's next to no information about these online so it's a guessing game at the moment. The platter pops right off revealing a few screws. Since I'm wrapping the face plate I need to remove the screws (which I've already done around the platter) the other 4 are unnecessary. There's about 10 screws holding the base together. You can see by the finger prints how stuffed these are Once the screws are out, you can wiggle the base off. Try not to yank it when doing so. Be gentle, it'll come off I'm skipping a massive part here but can go int greater detail if requested. It's good to have an old pillow to rest the face plate down on as the hardness of a table could damage the tone arm, buttons or circuitry. To make a long story short, the tone arm isn't clipped in, it's straight wires from the circuit board right through to the carts. This makes it a bit difficult to remove. You'll require a soldering iron here and some basic soldering skills. It's best to melt the solder on the circuit board to remove the wires. I accidentally snapped mine. It's very easy to do as the wires are so thin so be careful. So this is my current situation. I need to clean all my parts now so it'll be some time before I post updates. Once the parts are cleaned I'll be wrapping the face plate and replacing the decals on the face too. Unfortunately the cleaning product you need to use will remove all text and any kind of printed labels or stickers so you'll need to have these remade if you want to keep them in the future. As I work in the sign and graphics industry this is easy and cheap for me to do myself. I'll probably be doing some custom labels on it rather than replacing the original logos but we'll see how it goes. Hopefully in my next update I'll have my colour chosen too

I got screwed when I bought mine. The guy told me the new 8gb ram operates the same as the old 16gb ram. I haven't tried it for music but I've just finished up a few posters and it's having a sweat with some of the bigger images. I knew better which is the worst part but it is what it is. The SSD helps a bit. I gotta figure it out. For design it'll be fine and realistically, the plugins I use eventually have a fit but I'm sure the updates operate better now than the first versions

Yeah it's always possible. My iMac has always been a bit of a slug when you load it up with midi tracks and certain plugins like serum or sample based stuff. I'm trying to avoid it crashing. Most people are telling me the new gen stuff is pretty good and can have a fair bit thrown at it. Is it worth spending the money on memory or the processor? The new gen iMacs have a 6 core i5 or something but you can upgrade it at near the same cost as 32gb ram

don't be like that ps- I use windows to run my vinyl cutter. there's nothing on it apart from the software and drivers purely to run the cutter and I've had more issues with that then I've ever had in the 14 years I've been using a Mac

Seeking people smarter than me. I'm going to replace my iMac and per usual I'm weighing up which options are going to work out best for what I need. Last night, a mate told me he's got a few of these laying around and if I wanted one he'll give me one. I know these are still in demand so I said I was keen to grab one. It got me thinking that, in theory, I should be able to overbuild something for a similar cost of getting one brand new but I need to know a few things first. I don't really know where to look, or what to do, but is it possible to build one of these up to spec of a new iMac or iMac pro? I'm talking 6 core i5 or 8 core i9 (whatever is it), all the wireless fruit, usb c, stacks of ram, graphics card for the 5k goodness and so on. considering this is basically just a box it should possible right? OR, is it worth just buying a brand new iMac and call it done??

ok, because I wasn't already serious enough in my first post; start running a few comps again but really commit to it. I had the idea for the initial preset challenge yonks ago so we can get that going - I still got the rules somewhere. for the non producers you could have a quick cuts challenge which challenges non scratch dj's to learn some scratching techniques (could be bias to the ones who can actually scratch so you'll need some rules), mini mix comp, etc and so on. I can make up some comps with some proper rules. PM me or hit me up on the faceballs

They're in storage at the moment. I sold the Pioneers years ago and never replaced them. Thinking about bringing one of the turntables back out but there's not heaps of room once I start packing it up with all my work shit during the day

So bit of an update after all the years of no updates. With a plummet in motivation and lack of general hobbies I've decided to invest some time in music again. Since I'm in the same room all the time with my other work, everything looks exactly the same as it has done for years and it doesn't exactly spark inspiration. I figured it was time to change a few things up. First Before Now So now it comes time to do something with that wall. The obvious choice are soundproof panels but I'll need to evaluate the room before I do that. Theres a product I can get where I can print directly to sound proofing materials so I might do something a bit custom and use it to advertise the business too - win win. Anyway, I put the old monitors back in and it's given me so much more room. Also joining the studio are these babies Here's a list of the shit I have on my desk at the moment - 2011 iMac running Snow Leopard is the star attraction running Ableton 9, Logic 9, and MOTU Digital Performer 10 DAWs (all in epic 32bit mode) - Scarlett 2i4 drives the audio - 2x Behringer Truth 4" monitors and a KRK 10" sub with a KRK polarity switch (on the desk) makes the noise - Akai Mini MPK, Novation Launch Pad and a Roland A49 are the midi controllers of choice - Korg Triton Extreme Workstation (in the other room) provides extra synth goodies when required - Washburn D10-sk and an Ibanez AW65 account for the acoustics - Ibanez G10 is called up for electric guitar duties Here's a list of the shit I hope to have on my desk soon - Join the 64bit nation and upgrade the iMac to join the 21st century - Ableton 10 is probably going to be the DAW of choice over Logic (probably a stupid idea in the end but I've been using Ableton for the last 3 years or so) - Plugins will require updating so I'll do that to Hopefully this keeps me amused for a while.

I'm guessing you've downloaded the new drivers for it?

Haven't tried but I'll keep an eye out here. Will be looking to update all my software at some point and going the 64bit world

Bought my first piece for the studio in yonks! It's a switch that allows me to kill my sub without turning it off. It's a pretty simple device but helps the mixing process. Also, it's technically a foot peddle but eh, looks better on the desk

I thought Perth was bad but our culture is dictated by society rather than politics. I'd like to see more festivals and such come back because that feeds into the nighclubs. We don't have anything here anymore which meant that all the EDM style nights started to fizzle out. I got out just in time because once stereo got canceled everything took a massive hit.
