  1. I've done a few freebies and I'm not arguing for or against it. In my position now, I'll never play a free gig again unless it's legit for charity. Just my feels, no one needs to agree or disagree with me. I just put my comment out there with no need for debate. After reading the first 2 comments I felt that free gigs aren't so bad (as we've all done them) and wanted to express that, but just put in 2 cents to the thread. I've put on gigs and haven't been able to afford to properly pay djs but I've just thought of something to show my appreciation… that's all #notroll
  2. Don't wanna be the odd one out here but if (a big if) he's not getting anything out of it then not paying the djs is ok, but if it were me I'd want a drink card or something. Being under 18, maybe a voucher to jb or somewhere like that where $50 can get you a few things. Experience is one thing but like in the 1st post, can't buy shit being paid in experience. It's not a game
  3. Tracksource is the best bet. I use to buy my house from there
  4. yeah these guys basically summed it up. the tunes work together which is a good start. the mixing is something that will come with time. the more you put into it the better it'll become. good start though
  5. So much fun
  6. It's likely going to be What tpg said. Check your input device in audacity and see if you can select the controller
  7. The shameless remix is sick. Haven't heard this yet. Will give a squiz when I get a chance
  8. heart you guys
  9. yeah i guess. maybe in the next one. was it simple to understand?
  10. So thanks to Pending for the reminder, I've uploaded my first (pretty average) tutorial. It's about reverse reverb. it's a pretty easy trick to do but for the beginners it could be a bit tricky to work out. I figured rather than just posting 1 video, I can use this opportunity to help this wonderful community. I don't claim to be an expert in everything, however if you're seeking help you can ask me here and i will do my dandiest to help out and get a video up for it if need be
  11. The Trump'd Podcast / Minicast is now active! I'll be doing these every month and they're just gonna be more bangerised each time https://soundcloud.com/whoislabrat/trumpd-minicast-episode-1 I haven't made the track list public but thought I'd pop it up for you guys if you're interested. 12. you get thicker the fluid the heavier the fog i believe. having said that, you'll need to check your machine to see what the max viscosity you can run through it
  13. I tend to agree with what you've said. Most tutorials (regardless it be music) don't explain the smaller, "basic" details because they do assume that everyone is aware of how to achieve that. I did do a reverse reverb tutorial which I'm yet to upload but my time has been stretched and I haven't done another one. I should get around to uploading that soon.
  14. I use colours to put things into different groups. It makes things much easier
  15. Some of these are good points. One thing I wanna single out is "if you don't know what it does, don't use it". I feel that's a pretty weak tip. I'd happily suggest if you don't know what it does then click on everything until you figure it out! You never know how it may inspire you in your mix
  16. I don't do CDs. I take 4 USB's and sometimes my laptop. If the USB's fair I can hook up traktor. Rekordbox is more stable for me than traktor though haha
  17. Make sure you got more than 1 USB with you just incase
  18. Good entry level controller. Nice buy!
  19. When I'm kicking things off I get down early and make sure everything is working. It sucks when nothing's working and you have no time to sort anything out (if you have to). Depending on the venue you'll unlikely have to worry about this. The clubs usually have everything ready to go, the pubs you'll have to set some stuff up. If I'm following after a DJ I make sure my USB's are plugged in but I don't go in selecting tunes or anything. I try to stay out of his / her way but I hang around in there having a chat and what not. Once they're finished and on their last track I flick through my library and get my set started. Regardless what time I'm playing, I'm usually in the venue pretty early being friendly with everyone
  20. The original traktor cables allow you to have this accessibility. If you don't have the traktor cables I'm not sure how this works but with the original cables you can plug them into the line and phono inputs so when you wanna flick it over you just select phono or line and you're good to go. I think you may need the original cables to achieve this so if you don't have them hunt online for them
  21. Well done lads. It was a pretty good 2014 for most of us. 2015 is gonna be pretty big!
  22. lol so much k Bitch how you not the hobbit again?
  23. im really surprised to hear that from you. wanna give me a spitty pro and con list? It's just extremely simple for me. Maybe it because I have a mac and it all just works well but my music goes in, I make my playlists and bridge across to traktor and rekordbox, even serato. It's my music hub and it works very well for what I need. I even encode HQ wav or aiff files to mp3 if I need to
  24. so i've grabbed this off another forum and i reckon it's a great idea! i hate having the same shit being reposted on Soundcloud and making my feel look like a total mess. a bloke on another side has developed a Google Chrome extension that eliminates the reposts in your feed. if you have any feedback about it i'll be happy to share it on
