It should be. I have an audio 6 and that works fine withTSP
-
Yeah pretty much. Don't count the snare as 1 coz it doesn't fall on the first. The kick always lands on the 1 but the snare is consistent on the 3
-
To mix these off beat genres (dubstep, breaks, dnb etc) you mix to the snare. The kicks usually hit in the one but after that can be a bit inconsistent (compared to the 4x4 of house music). The snares are what you listen out for when beat matching this stuff. Don't backspin lol not yet anyway. Learn to beat match first

Dunno about that. I've never bought music for that purpose. Royalties can be claimed on internet radio if it's registered properly, otherwise it's pirate radio and they're up shit creek. When playing on radio in aus you're required to submit a track list. If not it means 1 of 2 things. 1, they pay a different fee to APRA every year to broadcast music (not sure what this is actually called) 2, it's pirate radio
-
If you're releasing and performing original music then yes. If you're just performing as a DJ or doing some mc work than no. You won't receive anything as a DJ. If you play or anyone else plays your own music while djing you're broadcasting publicly which entitles you to royalties. You don't get paid anything on unearthed. Bottom line is, if you don't produce your own music you don't need it
-
If you don't producer or perform your own original works then APRA isn't going to do anything for you. APRA is an agency designed to look after artists in Australia. Then work in a similar way to a publishing company by making sure you collect all royalties owed to you. They also provide legal assistance if you need advice with contacts and so fourth. I'm an APRA member and I get paid royalties on my original works. The record label pays me royalties on what's purchased and broadcasted on radio, venues, tv etc. APRA are there to make sure they pay me what is owed to me and that the record label don't try to scam me

Like Christmas carol bangers?

Most of you may be getting emails about this but NI and Pioneer have solved their issues with the new OS. Drivers and updates are now available. I'm still waiting on a few others to notify me but you guys may still wanna hold off for a while. I went in to apple a few weeks ago and asked for a back dated model. They wouldn't supply one so if you're looking at upgrading just hold out a little while longer

If you like the feel of vinyl and you scratch n stuff stick with the timecode vinyl. The Stanton st.80's are dope. Built tough as! The pioneer turnies are pretty decent but the price is a bit much. The z2 mixer seems to be decent with all is cue pain thingies. Depends what you wanna do but turntable wise I'd go the flagship Stanton's

Melbourne Bounce. Jump on my soundcloud brah
-
If that's the case you can pick up some cheap controllers that run serato for near on that much. Is suggest having a look into that. Any cd play at that price or under won't be beneficial, even if it's just to try
-
Yeah $500 won't get you anything worth while at all
-
what spamming the forum? Probably. It was a bit of a dull post

Jimmy z still doing this hey…

The 100's are a big waste of money. Anything pioneer (cdj) that has USB and link (if you use rekordbox) would be recommended. Cdj 850 would be as far back as I'd go. It all depends on your budget. If you tell us a ballpark figure we can help you out
-
Well there you have it. Didn't think there were any books for this
-
YouTube lol I doubt there's any books for djing. If you jump on YouTube and type in djing for beginners or similar you'll be able to find a far bit

Basic phrasing is 16 bars. 16 bars at 128bpm is ~30secs. If you're playing house or electro genres with a consecutive kick structure you can usually start mixing your next track right from the drop from the track that's playing. Be sure to know your tunes because it helps to know when you can start your transitions

mitch will know more than i do. i don't think there's anything wrong with referbed stuff if it's done right

There's a lot of good info on the boards. Have a look around here and maybe a few things you find can help you out

Depends. A soundcard is better than core audio and takes some strain off your CPU, so in that sense, yes. However, if you don't have studio monitors and/or you're not planning to record audio (vocals, external synths and drums) and you have a Logitech speaker set or something I wouldn't worry about it.

Would be ok bit that 8gb ram will come haunt you. Minimum should be 8 but 16 is definitely more comfortable. 13" would be fine if you don't mind that size. I'd go with the i7, 1TB hdd if you want the space otherwise the sd's will be better for boot up times. There's external ssd drives anyway. Samsung do a 1TB ssd external for 200 bucks I think

Mac, 16gb ram. It you want a PC done other guys here will have to help you out

The nexus and other model cdjs with USB are fairly similar in this way because the sync features work off the grid analysed in rekordbox. The common denominator here is to analyse tracks in rekordbox for all the features to work
