  1. i'm not a massive fan of the Numark mixers . I had one (might still have it somewhere) and it wasn't very good. I haven't heard about the citronic before but if you're after fx on a budget i'd assume that one probably won't break the bank. have you looked on gumtree for a DJM or ever a 4ch behringer? 4ch is probably the way to go (with the extra 2chs) but if you're looking for something just to get you going and a 2ch is gonna do everything you need the numark will do the job. the stanton mixers are pretty cool and i'm sure most of them have a reverse function on the crossfader. i've been out of the loop a little on DJ gear as i don't really need it at home but based on the experience that's what i can recommend.
  2. hey mate. there's heaps of info around here, as well as some friendly faces. ask away if you can't find what you're looking for!
  3. Be creative fool
  4. i love me some hardstyle. haven't played it in yonks
  5. zatox remix of alright is actually sick. zatox is still a king!
  6. if you have nothing and you're looking around for a nice package to start off with, i would also suggest the SB. the SB2 is out now for around 400 bucks or something
  7. This is a good point. I mix in key and the transitions are much more seamless (especially for mashups - you'll be surprised how many people don't think about this). I had this conversation with someone a while back and he said that mixing in key limits your choice in what music to play. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. I can still play any song I want to. I'll work around it until the key's work together to make a transition, rather than playing the track straight away. As per the other posts, most people who DJ imagine themselves playing in the big leagues. Nightclubs aside, a wedding / private function DJ needs to have the same qualities as the ones I've stated in my first post. IMO they need to hold more respect compared to a club DJ, as the clients and audience are more intimate. The only outcome I could see where most of those points wouldn't apply is playing radio. DJing should be fun, which is the reason most of us get into it to start with, however, if you're looking to take it seriously you're gonna need to be prepared
  8. This one is super cheesy, super commercial and actually heaps of fun to play lol free download for all https://soundcloud.com/whoislabrat/mnk-my-sunshine-lab-rat-bootleg-free-dl

  11. Oh my days. This could be one to dust the vinyl off for
  12. This will never work
  13. this just happened - finally lol keen to see what i can do with it
  14. 1. Reading a crowd. So many DJs can't do this and it really separates the good from the bad 2. Track selection gkes hand in hand with reading a crowd 3. Beat matching its kind of a given that you should beat match so it's not that high up 4. Stage presence the way you act behind the decks influences the way the crowd responds 5. Personality dont be a dick lol
  15. Naw the love is real
  16. all yours lol
  17. we need more adjf radio residents lol

  20. lol I love this. I heard my old tunes a while ago and holy Jessie they suck. I remember putting up a post on facey one day before a gig saying my remix of like a g6 was ready to go for that night. I never played it. I listened to it a while ago and thank god I never played it haha
  21. Yeah man. I think this will be a good test to break writers block too. I'm for it
  22. Most of us have heard about this but i thought it would be a good share anyway. I've been watching a few of these and they're super interesting to see how people think in such a short space of time. The playlist is Against the Clock by FACT Magazine. The artist are given 10mins to create a section of music. This might be good for you guys to watch for entertainment and maybe to get some inspo. If enough people are interested we could give it a crack. There's heaps of videos online where people are giving this challenge a crack
