update: just got some new toys! i still need to make room for them but the new additions to my music life are these bad boys plan is to spend most of the weekend sorting out my room, especially where my decks are. thinking of making a custom laptop stand which can hold my KP3 and laptop (for when i record my mixes). the kaossilator wont be much of a problem since i bought it for production only and being so small it can easily sit on my synth without blocking anything. KP3 is awesome! Kaossilator has some crazy sounds in it! thinking that i coulda waited out and bought the pro version for all the midi just to make it a lil easier but its still an awesome lil machine now to learn how to work the Kaoss Pad lol

id go one of these. anyone have one?
-
ah i see. just been reading up on it since on light duties at work and cant really do much else. oh and i was a drummer once lol

yeh quick cut is just a flick of the finger i guess. i just checked up on what carpal tunnel is and shit dude. feel bad for ya with the knobs, how does it feel if you try flick over by using your fingers in a twisting motion without the wrist? so like your index finger and thumb in a clicking sort of motion (if you kinda get what i mean lol)

i did once. id say its more or less the same as the knobs

Dynamic Phrase Synthesizer/Loop Recorder Announcing the KAOSSILATOR PRO – a supercharged version of the palm-sized KAOSSILATOR, reborn as a powerful track-making tool and loaded with live performance power. As a trailblazer among the "instrumental gadgets" that allowed anyone to easily create melodies and phrases, the KAOSSILATOR gained a strong and dedicated user base, even among those without any performing experience. Today, the KAOSSILATOR continues to be enormously popular. Retaining these revolutionary features – while adding a wide variety of new ones as well – is the new KAOSSILATOR PRO. With 200 sound programs, a new Electribe-inspired gate arpeggiator, and four loop recording banks that can even record external audio sources, the KAOSSILATOR PRO is packed with features that make it ideal for both live performance and premium productions. In addition, USB connectivity with your computer and SD card memory storage allow the KAOSSILATOR PRO to be used not just for improvised performances, but also as a superbly intuitive, track-making music production tool. Main features * KAOSS X-Y touchpad offers intuitive, realtime control * 200 sounds covering modern synth sounds such as lead and bass, and diverse acoustic sounds from piano to trumpet and beyond * PCM samples provide dramatic drum kits and ready to rock percussion patterns * Vocoder programs deliver scintillating vocal effects * Access up to eight of your favorite sounds instantly using the assignable Program Memory buttons * Loop Recording can layer both internal Program sounds and external audio overdubs * Four Loop Record Banks each allow up to four measures of loop recording, with easy muting that allows expressive realtime layering and DJ-Style re-mixing – ideal for live performance. * Gate Arpeggiator repeatedly triggers sounds in sync with the tempo. The slider controls either the gate time or gate speed. * Choose a key and select one of 31 musical scales to easily create musical phrases. Limit the X-Y pad's note range for even more control * Loop data, user settings and Program Memories can be stored on SD card * Dedicated software lets you manage loop data, MIDI assignments, and user settings from your computer * Performs double-duty as a MIDI controller for external equipment or software applications

LabRat replied to SourceRaver's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
thats a good idea! i mixed for just under 2 years without monitors and that would have made my life so much easier while learning the ropes -
How do you beatmix (not the question you think...)?
LabRat replied to SourceRaver's topic in DJ Headquarters

yeh hats and also snares are good to look out for -
im 19 and wanna get out there and hit the clubs but its hard to stick to one style as i wanna try and break through many still "underground" like styles. i think at times i may be making a mistake playing fidget and just should be playing electro instead. i was wondering what the scene is like in aus and if its worth it trying to catch it while its fresh? had a bit of an eye opener a lil while ago when my mate said he liked it. he doesnt really see the point in electronic music so for him to say that was kinda good. i guess the main question is, being a new sorta style breaking into the scene, will it last long?

i use a mac and its easy!

if im out of sync i hear the jungle beats (double beat) but to get it in sync i wait until i hear on solid beat. when i first started out i use to hear frequencies of the 2 bass tones clashing. thats when i didnt really know what to do lol -
at work but when i get home ill check this one out. recognize some of the artists so should be good
-
audacity! best way. if you got a mac its free too. just go straight into your imput and hit record
-
i think its crap. from what i understand, it works like the Genius system implemented on iTunes. for anyone that doesnt use iTunes, Genius is a recognition system that recommends downloads related to your library's content. this seems to be the file version of that. my vote's no
