Finding parts for these is so difficult. I had problems back then trying to source new parts for it, which is a real shame. I searched for a long time to see if broken ones were going to pop up but nothing, not even working ones. Hope you guys have better luck

so rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol onto does so much, which isn’t a lot as you all know. It works well on smaller parts but it’s more of surface cleaner. If you use a glue or goo remover it’s likely you’ll strip the inks so it’s a really annoying process to clean up. The closest I got was simply warm water and dishwashing liquid / soap. It won’t work for any electrical parts but for the base, let it soak and it softens it to be able to remove a bit off it. It’s a rinse and repeat process and it takes ages. That sticky plastic from the humidity literally ruins it so you’ll get to a point where a majority of it is off and it becomes a bit of a struggle to get the rest of it. You can try acetone but it could be too harsh on the plastic. Alternatively, WD-40. That’s quite good at removing glue for some reason. Side note - be careful removing the tone arm. Those wires are so thin it doesn’t take much to snap them, as I found out!

Nope, still in storage for now. Might actually sell them

Haven't heard of that, or seen it posted here. There could be a little gem floating around though

Welcome! Enough info around here to help make that choice easier

New Free Native Instruments Plug-In: Twenty Five
LabRat replied to Mitch's topic in Music Production
Snagged this but haven't had a chance to use it yet. All about those free plugins right now haha Heads up - Waves is dropping a free plugin for Black Friday. Not sure what it is but if you sign up you'll get it. If it's what I think it is it'll be OneKnob Fatter. It's essentially a saturation plugin. One knob does all this algorithm things and makes it sound a little fatter. I'm definitely not endorsed by waves but it could be a nice little addition to the collection -
Welcome Marty! There's plenty of knowledge around here and some helpful characters to go with it. My personal recommendation would be to learn how music is structured. Majority of music is written in a 4/4 time signature, which means 4 beats over 1 bar. It's the most common time signature to write in, especially for pop music and dance music. songs are usually structured in bars of 8 and 16. It all sounds a bit complicated but it's quite easy. Have a look at this video to get started. It's about song writing but this structure will help your daughter understand how music is written and, when it comes to mixing, when to transition from one song to another. If she's into dance music, it's quite similar but most DJ's will have extended versions of their intros and outros which are usually 16 - 32 bars long at either end. Once she starts listening out for this structure she'll pick it up across all forms of music. Any questions don't hesitate to ask

Distrokid and CD Baby allow you to do some things but are a little limited. Perfect for an independent artist or a small label that wants to distribute across digital streaming platforms with a handful of artists. From my research this was by far the easiest and quickest option. What is it that you're trying to achieve with this label? Are you looking to sign multiple artists and distribute across multiple platforms including TV?

I used a local lawyer here in Perth but like Tomy said, the best place to start is with APRA AMCOS. There's a few distribution sites that can help set you up but it's always good seeking legal advice regardless.

Welcome back! A few of us still around after all these years

I'd go a 5.1 home theatre kinda set up. You can get some decently priced stuff that sounds quite good and with a lot more sound engineering going into games these days the audio experience will be so much better. Personal opinion

PA have some ridiculous sales sometimes. I get an email every day with plugins cut to around 80% off. Definitely worth being apart of

More Perth people! Are you north of south?

Welcome! Sounds like you're really enjoying yourself. There's plenty of knowledge and experience around here

For something to start with I'd say the DDJ200. Serato / Rekordbox doesn't look as intimidating as Traktor can

Welcome mate. Not an FL user but I use Serum, Spire, most NI Complete stuff and FabFilter a lot. Happy to help out where I can

Most of you guys have them hey? I know @OxyKon bought a few of them

Review: Ableton Live 11 – the uber-DAW returns, but do you need it?
LabRat replied to Cupe's topic in Music Production
That's how I usually do it in Ableton. I think I got so use to it in Logic it's the one thing I'd like to see them include to their software. As far as what logic did / does in comparison to Live... it's been way too long since I've used Logic and I was on 9. I know X is so much better and has heaps of functionality but it's one of those things. Ableton is far better at throwing samples in with their warping feature, but Logic's native sampler is so much better so you can still achieve similar things anyway. I think it comes down to preference. I switched to Ableton because a lot of people I was collaborating with used it and it was just easier to switch -
So sad 😪 We need more space at home. When we eventually move into something bigger I'm going to build a wall with those IKEA boxes and finally set them free

it's around 2mins in. MIDI event list is what I'm referring too. It's been a while since I've used Logic -
I probably shouldn't but I have vinyl stored away that needs to be played!! Right now they're back in storage. It just became too hard to stay on top of and trying to find parts almost turned into a full-time job. There's some local guys that repair turntables and said Stanton used Rane tone arms but I couldn't even find those. To take it to him to get it sorted, he wanted about $350 for each one. I think it would've been worth while if the plastics weren't so gross and they were being used every day still

I reckon it's not worth the upgrade. The comping thing is probably the one they've tried to sell on more. I think it's a nice idea but it's not something I'd be lost over if I didn't have it. I think what Live needs is a proper midi note and velocity editor like what Logic has. The ability to select multiple notes from a list and change their values in one go, rather than going through the piano roll and pissing around with each note -
What did PH cull? All non doodle and clam related content I'm assuming?
