BRAND NEW DJ EQUIPMENT AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
BeatLeSS replied to djequipment's topic in Buy & Sell - Gear
Yeah i'm not clicking that link, the email addresses are hotmails/gmails.. doesn't sound like a legitimate thing imo. -
Great set of cans! Very good, they're good monitoring 'phones so you can still hear whats happening outside of them, i sometimes find myself getting lost in my HDJ1000's cos i can't hear anything when i got em on.

How did you come up with your stage / DJ name?
BeatLeSS replied to LabRat's topic in DJ Headquarters
Lol @ all the "Childish" changing of names etc. Thought i was the only one. Started out calling myself DJ RAD amongst my friends before i even had any gear hahahaha, but we were pretty skat at that stage. Come clean and thinking about just using my surname eh K-Roll. Far from having to use it at the moment so i'm all good, got plenty o time to think of a name -
checking it out now! Welcome!

Sounds awesome, will be watching it closely.

Just going by the one or two blogs i tune in on, they use zippyshare/rapidshare and other things like that. Unfortunately as they have links that need to be physically clicked, it would pose a big problem for automation. If the files were hosted by the same domain maybe.
-
I hear ya, i work with it on a day-to-day basis and really cant be stuffed keeping up. All i need to know is when a customer calls with a problem, they caused it
-
A place i've always bought my own parts from is www.msy.com.au Depending on your budget, and i'm guessing what sort of sound card you want in it, you can usually piece together something from that site for decent amount

Haha no I'm a techy adding value to a topic i can discuss (+rep me )

I would have to say there isn't, i haven't seen anything out there that would promote W7 as a better platform for audio production, but what i would generally look at for an OS is ease of use, which W7 definitely is taking the cake over XP now. The fact they've been able to pack the features that W7 offers without any significant performance decreases is exceptional. On the flipside of the argument, as long as your hardware is W7 compliant, i can't see why you would want to use older technology (XP) over a newer generation platform. This is not entirely true. There are still a tonne of bugs with XP. This argument can be closely related to the automobile industry, problems are found everywhere at any time, no matter how old/young the tech is. All SP3 was to XP was a compilation of updates from SP2 to SP3's release date. The fact that you won't use an OS until a SP is released is really dumbfounding to me. Thats almost as if you're saying you're never going to buy anything new, until the problems are run in from the original owner. As microsoft encounters a problem, they fix it, fairly promptly. As for licenses, i can get W7 Ultimates extremely cheap

As a computer techy i can honestly say Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. It's such a user-friendly OS, i'd almost say any MAC user could quickly migrate over. I'd definitely suggest looking into W7 over downgrading to XP. Make sure your PC can handle it first, once thats done it's intelligent enough to do most things itself, just check your manufacturers website (for those who built their own pc's - check your parts manu. website) To see if there is any difficulty with W7. Pretty damn good OS in my opinion, as i'm looking at upgrading myself, 6months ago i would have gone a MAC.

Please explain? We should be putting our currency in as GBP for anything we can?

Google Chrome FTW. It's light, easy to use, and the tiled window at startup rocks. And from a Techy point of view, the dumb customer can't stuff up much in google chrome, cos theres not many buttons to bloody play with! hehe.

I'd have to throw out there also that spending a bit on cans would be beneficial. They're not something i've had to swap and change and can take a hiding for some periods of times, i used Sennheiser HD212PRO's for about4 years (replacing the cable a few times). I'm currently using HDJ1000's and i'm in love with the performance jump from them. Had a few mates buy them for their pc's after hearing music through them too, so definitely something worth looking at spending a bit more on cos i can't see them wearing out for a good 2+years unless i break them somehow.

Just a quick query, i think this would be the right place. I tried to search around on pioneers website. But do they offer an extended warranty to purchase through them, i was told by StoreDJ they don't do it through the store. Cheers in advance.
-
Lol, leave me alone! They were cheap, and for the time being better than the stanton C.204 mixer. That being said, i can barely sleep with anticipation for these 900's. Bloody StoreDJ didn't fkn send em via express as per my request the bastards though.
-
just bought this myself, cos i figure if i can learn rather than haphazardly playing with music i'll pick things up quicker. with the storedj code its 67USD - about 76AUD. From what i can tell, probably not the biggest/longest course, but definitely a great start. Although the first two chapters are pretty much info i've found from guys on here. Looking forward to seeing what is said further on, after i pick up and practice the fundamentals.

Sounds great! I obviously had a different idea of what a VIP area would consist of But that sounds great.
-
I hate to argue, but to me you've just completely flawed the idea of having a VIP area. Unless theres a pretty stringent 'hazing' phase so to speak, similar to a fraternity. Where budding young DJ's would have to prove their worthiness. Perhaps a VIP Attempt mix where all the other VIP's then vote in their separate area as to whether or not you should be accepted. That would make it fair. On that note, imma get practising
-
In my opinion it all depends on what is going to be able to have access in the VIP Section. If it's really gonna be a great place for people to further themselves i.e bigger, better learning tools and information and an overall great place for (eventually) hundreds/thousands to share a stack of useful info without all the bullshit associated with a public system. Then really you should put a donation as a requisite. If you pay for something you're gonna use it ten fold, you're contributions would be better because it's also a service people have spent some money on, people are gonna tolerate less bullshit, so the overall atmosphere will remain professional (Which i'm guessing is the whole idea). Of course there are going to be exceptions, but thats just human nature. I definitely wouldn't mind investing a bit to something i know is gonna be useful in my betterment of DJ'ing as a whole. Just my 2bob.

Thanks for the input guys. I think USB would definitely make things a lot more efficient for management, especially with rekordbox, and lets face it, organisation off the decks is just as critical as on them. So i think for the extra $200 a piece i'll go ahead and get the 900's. Hopefully can get them express posted to get here before christmas. On a side note - bought a DJM800 few days ago, and omfg i'm impressed. Compared to the DDM4000 lol. Cheers once again, Lance.
-
Okay, so i'm upgrading my equipment for chrissy. Question i've got cos i need a hand with it is this; Is the 900's worthy going for an extra couple hundred over the 1000's and why? I've been chatting to a couple of guys i know that have been doing this for a few years and they seem to think 1000's are the way to go, i'm just wondering with the introduction of the 900's would it be more beneficial to get those instead? Can't really find too much info (TBH haven't dug around all that much to compare the two) but from what i can see the 900's probably are a worthy investment. 2000's are out of budget so out of question. Cheers, Lance.

New to the DJ'ing thing but getting into it hardcore, i've been bitten by the shuffle bug over two years ago and now i'm moving up to the DJ'ing part of things. Found this site and thought i'd register and say HI! Cheers, Lance.
