Wise ^ When I'm playing at the BYP it's either dnb, dubstep, drumstep or breaks, it takes a lot of time to build up a decent collection of music, I have 3cd wallets completely full of all the genres I just mentioned and I still feel like I don't have enough, and I'm slowly starting to get into glitch hop so there will most likely e another cd wallet I'll need I was into glitch hop a while ago. Okay guys so I've got a question that I thought i'd fire this way for people with the know-how to maybe educate us lesser knowledgeable peeps. I'm looking for a DAC (nothing too serious) to just give me that bit more sound, at home, when using the laptop, headphones, to the stereoz and also something that could double back to give better quality output to monitors once I decide to purchase some. I've been in a discussion with Duz on ze chat and he suggests an external soundcard. Are all the audio pro's out there able to expand on this, I'm being recommended to check out both sides here and can't really figure out why one is necessarily better than the other. I've got a few mates who swear by their DAC's (they have analogue amp/speakers though so they do say it is a must for them) and have heard quite the difference in sound on my home stezza and other speakers/cans while using the DAC's. Has anyone been in a similar sitch and what did they come up with?

Haven't really been to many mainstream festivals; Staunch NYE in Newcastle @ New Psycle. Now I was in quite an outta world state, but this set was fucking amazing, longest walk to get to the stage while talking to mates about what tracks we wanted to hear him drop, Panty Slingshot is my fav track of his and it was the second song in.. This guy had MIDI Drum pads set up and drummed half his set out, then sampled a live guitar at the end of it and glitched it up! Example of what this guy does live.. Just trawled through this thread, here's my 2 bob; Beatmatching is a fundamental.. WTF are you going to do when it falls out of sync while you're EQ'ing, let it play? Cut it over before the phrase end? Fuck no, you need to know how to do this. Biggest example I've got that being able to beatmatch has proven itself to me.. Was at a mates jamming, had my laptop running RekordBox. Network fucked up and couldn't get another track on to the deck, had to quickly jam a CD in and beatmatch that, tempo's were ~3-4% out and I had probably 30seconds to hammer that badboy into perfection. Pulled it off, just, but fuck it was a GREAT feeling. I agree with whoever posted that snippet about Angello and the no headphones thing, once you play your tunes enough you should know where the beatmatching is from the countless practice you've had, how many of you who have had tonnes of practice are now loading a track, tempo sliding before the waveform is there because you already know "It should be at +/- X%".. Hell getting to the point now I need to tell myself to stop nudging so much cos I know when it's in time - my tapping of the cue/play buttons are getting sharper. That being said I see the flip side too, in fact I want to move to a more live performance myself. APC40/Maschiine etc, being able to control the parameters of how you got that sound in the first place is unbeatable, you're putting more of your soul into it. A local DJ that I looked up to from my years of clubbing before I got into DJ'ing said to me once: Keep chipping away, eventually you'll just know when to hit play, without realising why. This is what comes from the practice. Live it, Love it, Learn it!
