Hi Guys, Piecing together my studio kit as I'm saving money for it. Should have enough dosh to get the whole kit n kaboodle by my birthday (July). Need to start looking at sound cards for my studio set up - for the time being it also has double up as my take on the go piece of kit, something that I can use for performance. Traktor would be good to look into down the track, and I read everywhere that you need their specific sound cards in order to do this, though couldn't this be circumvented with ASIO4ALL drivers? I'd need 2 (L+R) outputs for each deck I want to use though yeah, or does this get virtually managed within Traktor when I'm using controllers? My main focus will be Ableton Live, I don't feel I'll need any more than 1-2 mic inputs - will only be recording the odd sound/vocal at this stage and If I plan to do more later I'll upgrade. Who's using what 'round here?

I'd probably still take it at that price. But you definitely want to push for the receipt. As for warranty, check the manufacturers site for their conditions. Normally they wouldn't as you have no Proof of Purchase, but some times they can go off serials/manufactured date so you might be able to -

$70 off! This definitely appeals to the inner Jew. Bargain! Make sure he's got receipt for the remaining warranty. Winner! :thumbleft: -

Cost him $300 retailed, but now you can pick up new ones for $249. Throw something out like "You can sit around to try and get more for it or you can get some cash in your wallet NOW. Anyone who does a quick google (just like I did for a comparison between your item and what I could get it for new) will see that you're asking for an unrealistic price" Just gotta be firm. The fact he's emailing you back indicates hes interested. If it were me though, I'd be phoning and doing it that way as you can guage tone, he doesn't have time to stew/think about it and has to react instantly. -

$220 when you pay $30 more you get for new? Nah I'd be aiming for a bit more off that - but thats the inner jew in me. You never know unless you try to blag em down man, so long as YOU believe the price you're asking for is fair, it'll show in the way you speak. Be calm, be authoritative. $249 new when he wants $235/each - i'd be using keywords like "realistic" in your conversation, the advantages of you paying the extra for new are more warranty etc. Then go on to say that you're not a fan of consumerism and want to help the guy out by taking it off his hands. I'd be phoning the $220 individual guys and explaining to them as well, try get em for like $190ea. Don't forget the cash/pickup leverage too! People love hearing that. -

Blag him down. There's no incentive for you to buy as a package (same price if he separated). I've just found under that item you can get one of them for $220 - http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brunswic ... 1044445841 Just ring him and say You wanna buy both if he'll take $430 and that you've found both items individually for $210/ea but would rather pick up the whole kit in one hit, ask if he has receipt still so you can get warranty if needed (if he doesn't i'd say no straight away) If you're in the same area too I'd try use cash and pickup that day/next day as a bit of leverage Happy hunting! -

Most of the big name/industry standard gear depreciates really well. Mainly because of their build quality and reputation. I'm always a fan of buying second hand where I can - especially if the equipment is in good nick. $40 that can be better spent towards choons to play on your new equipment, etc. How old is it? Does it come with a receipt and still has voluntary warranty with the manufacturer? If these are answered well then I'd say go for it. -
Congrats buddy! Seems like errythang is on the up!

YSM! Sync thoughts mate. I was umming and ahh'ing about hubs just the other day Looked at those Ankers, they seem to be the bomb - I kinda wanna order one. I love the look, and the layout seems great to just sit on the desk. I've seen them in a few live performance videos too they just sit neatly in the setup of gear. USB3.0 is the way to go, there's no point staying on a USB2.0 platform when new devices are moving over to it. They are backwards compatible. Orico seems to be the same as Anker from what I can tell, just Anker is rebadged/new casing. But I'd probably stick with the Anker. Let me know where you find them from, cos I'll probs pick one up too. Edit: How cool does this one look Oirco 7port

Yeah, you probably wouldn't want the mixtapes going through RekordBox, I can't see any need for this as it's just play back. Unless you wanna cue point certain areas in the mix (but why would you do that?) But once it's all done mate, it's all done. Just make sure when you go to do it you're not pressed for time, like in the middle of a party thinking fark yeah this folder of 1000+ songs would be good here.

That's cos it's doing it properly! Once you see the time it saves you on the decks you'll be doing it this way forever.

Gandy's post in the big-ups thread about being in logic and learning some of the classics he loves has got me thinking: "I need to learn piano as a basic point, can this be done without a piano but more with keyboard/DAW" What things are going to be required here? Full size keyboard (88keys right? What restrictions are there with less keys?)? Is there a VST that does that, and then of course some resources, books etc. I'm going to look at getting a MIDI keyboard, naturally for production/performance - but seeing as I don't know anything yet the ability to learn via this method is going to save me money (both on not needing any more equipment, and of course on lessons as I'm okay with self-teaching) and time (won't need to leave the house - I can fire it up whenever I want ) Any recommendations here would be amazing. Gandy, maybe you can elaborate more on the photo?
