Im definitely chucking a laptop stand on it. probably just go with one of the standard metal ones off ebay. Im sticking with my SL mixer so I dont really need a keyboard atm. The design i have in mind is something similar to the expedit. ie boxes for recrods/headphones etc. but there wont be any over hang with the top of the unit. kind of like a solid box with front compartments and tables/mixer incorporated into the top. Free standing speakers or should i incorporate some into the top of the unit? OR have 2 monitors on arms on the wall behind the unit..? ideas ideas!

Yeah I've researched the expedit. its more of a hassle than its worth. the depth of the unit is not enough to handle battle facing tables and the height is too low. plus that $50 deal is from 2009..... hope to get this started in the next couple weeks when uni finishes Anyone think of any other must have components? novel ways to hide/organise all the cabling? Also, opinions on having a couple of speaker/monitor stands on the unit Vs having free standing ones?

Rane SL mixer V "normal mixer" +serato combo
krsjuan replied to krsjuan's topic in Mixers & Controllers
Yeah I've had a look at the 800. but im not so sure about giving up the rane now... What do yo reckon are the main differences between having a DJM800+serato box V the 57SL mixer? from what i understand, I would need a sound card to record? -
ebay= fees Would prefer to sell here. I'm sure someone needs these in their life

I've been checking out some of the origin live/rega products. but I am a little stumped in regards to installation. Is a rewire necessary? Or can the new tonearm just be fitted onto an adaptor? Has anyone done this?

Rane SL mixer V "normal mixer" +serato combo

OK so i think I am pretty set on updating my mixer. the 57SL just isnt what I need. Suggestions for a good alrounder mixer, scratching & mixing Im thinking i might go with a pioneer for ease of use. especially in terms of effects etc.. suggestions? -

So I've had the TT57SL mixer for a while now, and I've gotten to the point where I understand the unit, but, I am not sure if it's the mixer for me. I find that the mixer is excellent as far as cuing etc goes. But swapping between functions such as the cueing and effects feels a little time consuming and prone to mistakes. IE pressing a button thinking I have it set on effects but actually having it set on cueing... For those who don't know the mixer, pretty much the unit doesnt have effects buttons/cueing buttons dedicated solely to one purpose, but you alternate between these functions. My main question really is, would I be better with a serato+mixer... and what are the drawbacks to this type of setup? cheers

Rane Sixty Eight Serato Mixer And Controller
krsjuan replied to Cupe's topic in Mixers & Controllers
yo. does the mixer have effects buttons, as opposed to the 57SL where you have to select the effects on the computer? -
true that. my pops a carpenter by trade, so he's pretty much putting it together for me. I just have to work out all the details. and decide whether i should update my gear aswell...
-
Yeah i see what you mean by ease of access. Im thinking either just a hinged lid type thing. or even just a fully removable lid that lifts straight off. in relation to overheating. i guess i could just leave the back off the unit open, as it will probably be close to wall and not free standing. I reckon it would look just as sweet with CDJS. Im thinking of finishing the top off with some sort of vinyl/plastic to make the whole thing smooth

Sorry guys. NO TRADES If anyone wants photos, shoot me a message

So I've decided to build a desk for my 1200s and rane 57sl mixer. I'm going to have a base similar to the expedit ikea bookcases. ie basic boxes for records. and then have either a flat top to sit the gear on or have the gear "inset" into the top. My real question is. what do you guys think of having the turnies and mixer inset into the top of the desk eg Can you see any forseeable problems of doing this, in terms of playability? I do alot of scratching etc. appreciate the feedback, and any tips in terms of the design would be great

just like using a rane SL mixer. except it seems alot easier to use effects etc

pretty much the perfect blend of cdj and turntable

true that. but prices on ebay always blowout, and most of them seem to be outside of VIC and people are unwilling to ship them.

yeah i understand, all good. ok I found that the joysticks double as "transform switches". The way to change between this transform function and the functions you assigned to the joysticks, is by pressing down on the joysticks until the red LED under the joystick turns on. Do this for each joystick separately, so you can have one operating the transform function and the other operating the assigned functions. This is probably simple to most, but still good to know if your TTM57SL joysticks appear to stop working.
