  1. nice one duz! and big upps again wazza for just being a top bloke.
  2. ^as above shows, you have to remember the music usually comes first and if it slightly diff than its norm it may get re-labelled. so a lot of times a genre starts as someone reworking a track to create a new sound. and then producers will hop on and create originals to have that sound. so a lot of drumstep tracks may have been drumstep even before it was classified as drumstep. dubstep itself was born from garage/ 2-step dj's wanting to create something more dnb sounding. or like with moombahton, dave nada was slowing down dutch house for a bit, playing around with a sound that eventualy got labelled on the night he slowed down the track moombah. and the synical hipsters will even say, once a sound has been genrified it is already on its way to death!
  3. yeah arent all those ones from NAMM this year all-in-ones. i.e. CD, laptop or just USB. but they may be a little wee big EDIT: ignore that maybe i was dreaming
  4. on the rare occassions when i do scratch i use both depending on where the track playing is sitting. but i do prefer having my dominant hand on the vinyl. but thats because i do mainly basic scratches where the record manipulation is the main component. but for fader intensive scratches i could see how you would want the dominant hand on the fader (i think imadje mentioned he prefers it that way because his other hand cant move the fader quick enuff)
  5. haha yeah i bought the friday collection last year and just recently watched number 2 for the first time in ages. oh yeah i actually prefer the version of the track that came out a year later, where the sample goes "on another day...".i think it was on a B-Sides compilation
  6. not sure how many of you know ice cube - it was a good day. this is one of my fave tracks of all time, of all time anyways someone has used the process of elimination to figure out exactly what day was a good day from http://murkavenue.tumblr.com/post/16553 ... s-good-day
  7. yeah i havent put them on yet (haha still too lazy). only thing is i dont have the clear dust cover, but I am assuming this wont be too much pressure on the arm
  8. what the hell how did i miss this! will def check this out hodster and post up comments!
  9. hey mate welcome here is a recent fred about vinyl. though there wasn't too many suggestions for edm viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8852&hilit=vinyl
  10. i most likely will go. let you know in a bit cant be assed lining up though. frigging hate lines and too old to trick my way into avoiding them like back in the day i noticed a guest list button, i wonder if that works when they got internationals. cuz technically its still just a bass mafia night. or jonny or p-daddy or anyone else in the biz, hook us up! ill buy you a drank
  11. cupe!!!! you asked for it you got it! http://chineselaundryclub.com.au/events ... se-laundry
  12. i think its also vice versa these days i.e. a lot of producers these days go on to become dj's! hence the misconception a lot of times that producers who become dj's should be playing their songs out live.
  13. been a minute since i bought anything dj related other than music which i spend heaps each month (cant justify it given time spent on it) so i thought id post up, got this last week after seeing cupe's covers! spewing it was on sale $15 for a pair in first week of jan but missed out. when i bought my deck (now 2 and half years ago) i bought a massive piece of black thick cardboard that i was going to make a cover for the whole set, cardboard still under my bed. hahaha apathy y u make me lazy
  14. oh it was also in the wikipedia article, but i think the interview was on the mad decent blog. anyways it was from slowing down the track called moombah to a reggaeton speed. which is basically the moombahton sound, i.e. slowing house music in particular dutch and fidget to 108 BPM from wiki
  15. wasnt moombahton created by dave nada of nadastrom. he had been working on the musical style for a bit, but then at a high school formal (from memory) he mixed a track called moombah with some reggaeton beats. and form there it got its name and he worked on a whole album of it. ill look for the article.
  16. Hey yo
  17. Set it in one folder. Then in folder options select copy view or something like that for all other folders. Then all folder will show it. Another way to get it in one window is to use windows search filetype mp3. Then changethe detail to see bitrate. Then they will all be in one window without having to go into individual folders. Then you can even sort by bitrate and delete and or move the ones you dont want. Watch out though you do know that the whatever itunes sells now, is it 192 or 228 or whatever, in their format is the same quality as a 320. Its only those sold from when itunes first started, the ones that had copyright protection, that the sound was balls.
  18. Oh is this out alreary?
  19. random of the night, shoe stealing anyone who crowd surfs. Started right from the get go when left brain ran out and dove into the crowd when they first got there, and bang they took his vans. So he performed bare foot for the night. And i noticed anyone who tried to get up on the crowd ended up shoeless by the end. Hahaha So from then on anyone who stage dove took their shoes off
  20. Time for the usual eggs one adjective show wrap ups. Anyways shit was freaking off the roof. Absolutely awesome show. I didnt show up till 9 so not sure if there were opening acts, but the cats were pretty restless, and the place was wall to wall Disclaimer: i was front row on the mezzanine level with the other oldies, the ones tyler called boring. Haha. syd the kid came out first to woo us with a small dj set of old ofwgkta classics. Man she can dance to boot. I swear im in love, all homo. Moshing already started, and when she dropped dat shit cray, shit went crazy. then all rappers come out, and all were in attendance, tyler, hodgy, left brain, mike g, domo genesis; and even taco came out to dance, punch a stage intruder, and his one track. Mike G is probably the best rapper, but seemed to trip some of the crowd as it was probably too rappity rappity. But hodgy beats is still my fave and show the best versatility. From going gangsta on a domo west coast track; to his thrashing mellow hype shit. 3 mosh circles were in full effect by then. As usual all the top 40 shit got the crowd most geed. Tyler had his daniel johns moment denouncing the track that resulted in the cross over (cant even remember now yonkers or sandwitches). Ive heard that before because he hates how people just expect that when thats just one sound in his bag of tricks. Either way have to say tyler sounds even ten times better live and seems so happy and upbeat. they played two new tracks and sounds so freaking good. Man they killing it as teenagers, or tweenies, cant wait to see what they do in the next decade.
  21. Wait so someone we like does dubstep its not jumping on the band wagon, but someone we dont like does dubstep its jumping on the bandwagon....
