how could you buy a brand new pair of ST150's for $650? even at the sales it would be say 2 x $600 so thats $1,200.

sol i cant see pic so dont know if he upgraded the cartridge and needle to something better, because if not why would he need a new one after a year? let me know what he put on their and i can tell you if upgrade (the ones they stock with are actually very good). secondly, and this is just my opinion and my strategy for all 2nd hand things. basically to me the minute something is brought out the store and opened, its only worth half the price or at best (and i mean it has to be mint, i.e. unboxed but used once or twice) i may pay 70%. so if im not mistaken they are $650 brand new thise days. so the range i'd work with would be $650 - $910. but $910 sounds like heaps!!!! again unless they are absolute mint not worth that. so yeah low ball at $600 and then maybe get pushed to $700

oh yeah havent done my one adjective gig review. yeah it was awesome, with one fatal flaw, the venue was shyte for it IMO. now normally as i said all i care about is getting my jiggy on, so seeing the dj aint no thang. but obviously with a turntablist half the fun is seeing the dj's hands. and i had good position, but could only see him bopping his head. because he's a short dude like me. i rection maybe 8-10 people got a good view out of the whole place. oxford art factory, or even good god would have been better. that aside yeah he absolutley killed it. basically playing off reeps one (the UK beatboxer). so they kind of took turns with either Q drumming and Reeps doing bass, melodies and vocal samples. or Q cutting shit up while Reeps did the drums. Qbert did get some solo action on with a bit of beat juggling and scratching. best bits were Q's drumming. hella fast. and when reeps one broke into a UK garage song, like actually singing. and then Q dropped the beats and bass behind it, including a nice build up, and then bang nice dirty bass drop. defintely got my jogging in the spot on. but i had already started with typhonics drum n bass set before hand -
that so cool hoddi!!!!! Yeh friends house parties (albeit a hall) are always best, so you should feel relaxed. i think sol pretty much got the tips covered, he the man in the under 18 party scene. Good luck and hope you have fun.

event reminder anyone else going? -
cant see because behind great wall, but yeah doesnt matter what genre (and fyi dj related is not only EDM! dj's play rock, metal, gospel, childrens etc. etc.) aiight i havent played for a while... eminem - still don't give a fuck the last track from his first major slim shady lp (he had a few ep's and mixtapes before that). nice hook and beat. typical em beehatching and going on about the crazy things he going to do. for anyone that whined about em not being the same and going too far on relapse needs to go back and listen to this album. it is em as slim shady and going all in no holds barred, which is exactly what he did with relapse.

man would be hard to get your groove on, you'll be doing running man then 30 seconds later "switch" anyways sorrry man wouldnt have a clue. reminds me though of that holy grail mixtape that was only distributed around cali of dr dre mixing 50(?) songs in an hour, but that was straight vinyl and turntables.

ill prob come down for a beverage or ten. no line ups or fancy dress shit though, ill leave that to you kiddies oh and i wont need a place

umm i think this is a bot (being posted in events and all). but anyways in regards to OP i think i mentioned this ages ago in one of the million how to mix rnb threads. i remember hearing about a technique in order to avoid vocals smashing was to bring in the incoming track at the bridge or breakdown or outro (whichever had the least lyrics); then quickly load the same song on your other deck and bring it in from verse 1. in essence creating a longer intro (or creating an intro if the song starts with vocals). EDIT: as turntables don't have loop or hot cues

anyone know if the ttm57's sold out?

turntabilism and drum n bass have been linked since forever. Only makes sense that any offshoots/ related genres like dubstep would fall somewhere into the mix. scratch perverts smashed their set last dec and it was peppered with dubstep. so did he play a set or did a routine? I wasnt expecting a set -
Gahaha your mean

you mean the label? -
film it! im being cereal. ive listened to heaps of mixes but still can't pick how to bring it in. ive seen heaps of old school stuff like on that ztrip tute, but old school hip hop is minimal (beats and bass only). even when ive tried to get hip hop all in a small range of bpm (which is extremely limiting) like say 85-90, i still find it hard to transition even if beatmatched. there is just too much going on (synths, claps, ooohs, cymbal crashes) and/ or vocals begin from beat 1 and/ or vocals don't start at the start of the phrase (i.e. mumble at about beat -3 so when you bring it in it sounds like it was cutoff) and whatever else. i mean drum the beat-cut i've got, but cant really do that all night. and i know people be mixing shit in. and i know i can find all the songs with good intros, but i dont really like being limited like that. anyways yes please help!!!

shannyn sossamon kate monroe (my fave club dj of all time, of all time. of the million times ive gone where she is playing i have danced up a storm without fail) a million hip hop djs i think what you meant andy was that most female dj's to make it to the media crossover are what you described. not that there is any incentive to become a bigg deal anyways, because become bigg nekk minit everyone hates you
-
Are you being cereal man? i know its a matter of opinion but i dont agree with you. not sure which clubs you go to but ive been to plenty around syd and turntables arent just available they being used! And not sure if youve seen any vids of US events by some of the big labels like mad decent, fools gold, slow roast. They all using turntables. yes cdjs are the majority but if you want to use TTs then go for it. Which is why i think sol should try it, he may like it.
