The crowd is all subjective though when it comes to things like weddings/club/whatever. Take that mad for it wedding crowd and stick them in a club with Ame or Dixon and they'd probably be bored out their tits. Whereas, stick me in a wedding crowd and I'd be bored off my tits. Regardless of DJ skills. yeah for sure. but what about a crowd on the beach raring to tear it up because of the last dj, then superstar comes on and just cruises at boring speed. regardless of his dj skills. i guess my point was, beatmatching does not make a dj.

yawn. a disc jockey is the term of "jockeying" from one record to the next. that is the true dj and always has been. any comments outside of that discounts mobile dj's work; radio dj's work and is straight out elitist. a harmonicly beat matching body tricking dj is no doubt awesome, but that isn't the only dj. a cdj is just a big ass controller even if you use cd's. i.e. it is a "controller" manipulating a digital file which was obtained from the media being a cd. back on topic. sync is like driving a car, period. some cowboy elitist choose to ride a horse and think they are king shit. NOTE: never used sync, and anyone with TT's and a dvs knows the sync button is greyed out anyway. but ive said it before i saw a superstar dj mixing perfectly as the crowd slowly fell asleep. so to me that was shit djing despite the manual beatmatching and harmonic mixing. but ive been to weddings where the dj is playing the crowd like a farking pied piper

oh yeah i didnt think about the case. i thought you were just gonna leave some tdk or verbatim cds around. but yeah for sure, just tag them up with a phat sharpie and put FREE. and yeah coasters at pubs and cafes. if you have your details doing the record store drop might be a bit risky. or if you in sydney, at places like glue and GP where they have all the free mags drop a couple there

i remember that mob cementing usb sticks into holes in buildings but not cd drops. are you going to label it so its at least eye catching? else personally if i saw a cd somewhere my first thought wouldnt be to pick it up..
-
oh otay i think i gets you. its probably more use of the brackets when its stating the name of the remix not necessarily the remixer. as opposed to the file naming system is the name of the remixer. e.g eggssell - sweat from my balls (drrty drrty mix) - drrt doggie dogg where drrt doggie dogg did the drrty drrty mix

Memorable Moments for 2011 & Wish List for 2012
eggssell replied to andyman's topic in DJ Headquarters
had a search for this fred because i was curious to see who i wanted to see this year. going pretty good so far. got to see craze (even met the man); got to see atmosphere; saw some live art at the rocks; seen qbert and codes sets. so only the spank rock sideshows never happened! EDIT: oh i meant live art with djs playing. well thats what happened at the rocks. and secret walls (formerly known as secret wars) have started again so hopefully catch a few of those -

Job - Retail DJ Sales...Western Suburbs Sydney

hmmmm. anyone know what kind of rates they offer? PM if you dont want it in the open forum much appreciated -
hey cupertino just a question... i know most of you guys are doing DJ sets and while id love to do that (and hoepfully by the end of the year will have a mix or 2 that can be added to the prerecorded playlist); i was wondering whether we'd take a few OG DJ type slots, i.e. as in a disc jockey slot? im thinking a hip hop show and any thing even remotely related bmore, ghetto tech, back pack, love rap, skip hop, ragga, maybe a bit of breaks, etc etc to show case some tracks a little different then what everyone else is playing? i mean ill do a couple of celebrity dj transitions (backspins, reggae horns, loop and talk over, train wrecks ) but in general it will be the showcase of the songs. i will keep practicing and hopefully one day be able to get my dj moto on, but until then at least it will get me on the decks regularly. anyways if it brings the standard down, all good ill just keep practicing. if not then cool ill put in a request for a permanent slot starting july (june is too hektik).

havemt been in here for a minute, only cuz if im watching a show i usually rock that crews tracks for the week. so its been all PE, atmosphere and def wish for the last month. Anyways dumbfoundead - killers dumbfoundead is an argentinain born LA rapper who is famous from his battle days, and blew up on youtube due to a battle with another asian american rapper on one of those battle shows. the battle was pretty good (though typical unoriginal homophobic slurs eventually sneak in), and the best bit about dumb was he was so calm almost like a comedian performing a stand up set. anyways this track was nothing special. he has tried to do a few more hardish type tracks, which is prob part of the LA area he grew up in, but i like when he more light hearted. his lyrical play is very good so check some of his other tracks. his clothing label knocksteady also has some good stuff

buy vinyl only. then you can shun everyone. isnt that how this works....

nice one lloyd

thats a bit rough lurks. we meant to be a home for all the djs: beginner, bedroom, mobile, club, pro not just for those that think they cool and elite.
-
i think its more that traktor offers controllers more rather than serato is more suited for turntables. ive usd both and its pretty much the same if all you doing is using it as a crate box.
-
oh yeah definately im sure crywolf wasnt refering to pro's in his Q but i think russell was. and no not promotional if you check what a lot of big name djs use at festivals or even their club events its traktor is what i meant. but yeah def in syd where ive been i reckon two years ago it was 90/10 serato/ traktor. but now about 50/50. but yeah im retired from the main club scene so maybe its only at the oldies joints
-
oh yeah in terms of serato vs traktor i think its about half half. Definately serato on cd has been rare where i go. on sat i think moonchild and craze were traktor, codes is serato. Didnt see the others.
-
he said pro djs gremmis. check a lot of the festys youtube footage. A fair bit of traktor peeps from several genres. in terms of usb versus traktor/ serato, at chinese laundry the other night 5 of 6 djs i saw were using traktor/ serato. only the guys before codes were using usb. Moonchild, the dude in the sandbar, codes, craze and the dude after them were all using either traktor or serato

UPDATED Craze and Codes coming to Oz in may!! ALL STATES
eggssell replied to eggssell's topic in DJ Headquarters
oh yeah never wrote up. as above caught up w codes in the sandbar. Pretty cool to say gday after messaging here and there since last year. Then also met craze which was cool. then checked moonchild for a bit tearing it up. fat funky and bassy. then time for codes. Place was packed to the brim and rocking. As per his mixtapes, holmie was killing it. his belafonte moombahton mix killed! then on for craze. Going all over the shop, dubstep, moombah, hip hop. Nice hyphy and bounce hip hop, and the commercial hip hop tracks he dropped went well. and then his drum n bass bit totally ratcheted the place up ten times. aside from all the kiddies there seemed like a few who knew craze from the drum n bass days. overall nice sets from the fellas. and codes holding up the vodka bottle in the booth, looks like the boys were enjoying themselves too. -
