ooooooooohhh yeah another legendary dj is coming. z-trip is coming and performing in four states (so others check your local guides). z is famous for his mash-up sets and extensive use of blends, and well before AM made it household. and im not talking about pre-made mash ups but rather taking two records and creating something new (which was called a blend, while mash-up meant to be smashing thru a large range of genres which z-trip was also famous for doing. but slang changes so quickly...) anyways i urge everyone to find one of his earlier mixtapes like best friends or the future primative set. just unbelievable. his little tutorial on the extras of the scratch documentary is also worth a watch. http://www.metrotheatre.com.au/events/2 ... eat-z-trip also there will be a dj comp on the night. where the requirement is to play 3 genres in 15 minutes

eggssell replied to Cupe's topic in Mixers & Controllers

oops. so i assume y'all didnt get it going? my ipad died, then put it in room to charge; then started watch a recording of aus v greece bball and forgot to come back and check on you guys. i didn't realise you were trying to do it without decks. one thing i did notice in that pic before my ipad died was there should be no need to route the amps audio out into the computers audio in. you should be sending the mixers booth/ record into one of the audio 8's inputs. but anyways sol's description seems right. but from what it was sounding like your lappy wounldnt even recognise your audio 8?

Top 10 unlikely musicians on the dubstep bandwagon
eggssell replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
@ bonz oath mate. your track is the shiz. while im not big on the transformers sound (i first heard that off cupe 2 years ago hehe), your track kills. and when executed well ive grown to love it. but i think dubstep because it crossed over suffered like hip hop does. the non hip hop heads always seem to be either: hip hop sucks balls with all that shit from pitbull, lil wayne, black eyed peas, flo rida etc. OR hip hop aint like it use to be like dre, snoop, pac, biggie, insert anyone else from the 90s (hip hop did not begin in the 90s people!!) when in reality both those groups are just one aspect of hip hop, i.e. the aspect that happened to be commerical. yes pac, & biggie are commercial hip hop!. and commercial does not mean shit or watered down, just that it sells. but hip hop has been around since forever, is still around and will always be around. and its always changing too, for the better if you ask me! the commercial aspect will always go from being on a pedestal, then knowcked down, then kicked in the balls. but the actual sounds will always live and evolve. good music is good music -
fabyan - hitem with the rock jack http://www.beatport.com/release/hitem-w ... ack/222972 a jacking electro track. One of the first tracks i bought off beatport in 09 after moving to dvs. I got the lead for fabyan from his remix of a perfect cell track. Ended up getting the whole ep (live motivator ep) that this was on. nice cutup vocal samples on a jacking beat.

dont worry mate all experience. Hopefully some w djm900 experience can come in and point it out for ya
-
why do you need the master in your phones? Wouldnt you use your other ear listening to the monitor? i do occassionally finetune at the very end with both channels on cue, which sounds like was working. So not sure what the issue is. But havent used a djm 900 so maybe im confused
-
do you think the majority of people who use beatport dig through smaller labels and back catalogues of now defunct labels? Or do you think he majority of people listen to top 10/top 100's and buy from them? What you're implying is 100% correct most people look at the top 10 otherwise there wouldnt be a top 10 on the page ummm but no different then when people were buying in record shops. some digg some go charts. being on beatport doesnt change the habits. im a digger but thats how i am. Take one lead and follow it till its dead. Then move onto the next one. but yeh theres definately lots of good shit on beatport. i go on juno cuz im a cheap ass, plus you can get a lot of US releaeses that are region locked on beatport.

all djs start somewhere. and you know what i notice a lot of youngins saying they wouldnt buy mixes, but pre itunes we always did. whether it was a five dollar bootleg of the local (who for us was moto); or a full release cd from a superstar dj like you mention; or badly copied imports of less superstar djs.

Top 10 unlikely musicians on the dubstep bandwagon
eggssell replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
well actually dubstep was coined in 2005 or 6 right. But yes the sounds and rhythm of making 2step and garage to a drum n bass beat, was from the late nineties, early noughties. In another fred i posted the bside of a craig david track that has a lot of similarities to dubstep. and that article is bad in that it picked the wrong beatles mix. bonz easily ftw. love it http://soundcloud.com/bonzeecleaven/the-beatles-all-the-lonely -
i dont think its for dj's to buy mixes. its for the general public to buy mixes. but agree, that one of its flaws is who will buy mixes. no one does these days with soundcloud, podcasts, and a lot of djs just megauploading on their sites. i myself only ever bought fabric lives and the occassional krafy kuts and kid kenobi mixes. but def havent for many years now.
-
in essence it is extending your licence on the tracks you buy off beatport to one where you can make money off it. so if you sell your mix, you get a cut; then the label and artists get a cut (and they would have already got a cut when you first bought the track)
-
no beatport will handle all the clearance as i think the point is you use tracks sold on beatport.
-
not sure how many have readt this from djtt but beatport looking at allowing the selling of mixes. no more hustling those cassette tapes out the back of the hatchback http://www.djtechtools.com/2012/06/19/b ... itimately/ ive only skimmed and will read tonight

oh yeah and cupe, any go with black t's? or do you buy the hanes in bulk? that defkon blend on the black hoodie is looking dope. but im thinking of going OG logo on black for the hoodie; but wouldn't mind a defkon blend on a black T. but all good if no go. ill just get the defkon blend on white.
-
ahhh otay. adjusted my comments slip mats - any of the logo designs: OG, city scape, white on black etc.. vinyl labels and stickers - as per the existing stickers but already cut to size for the record label. then a few "ADJF" rectangle ones to mark the records up head bands - black with red ADJF or ausdjforums. thick font, maybe tag style font
-
just a few that come to mind slip mats vinyl labels and stickers head bands
