missed a few. so heres a tiple treat oz hip hop all from 2012 first up from def wish cast's evolution machine. production by the resin dogs def wish cast - dun proppa next another one from hilltop hood's drinking to the sun. beats by suffa. nice clip featuring an almost whos who of the scene hilltop hoods - rattling the keys to the kingdom and finally from urthboy's smokey's haunt. not sure if production by hermitude or count bounce (or both) urthboy ft daniel merrieweather - naive bravado

otay while digitally it was dec 11, physical was jan 2012 so it sneaks in. another one from the OF camp (if you flick back thru this thread you can see the wide breath of talent these collective has). this one is from the internet, the duo of matt martians and syd the kid, from their debut album purple naked ladies. The first official release on odd future's own record label. production by the internet. This track is soo smooth. the internet ft left brain and mike g - lincoln also a pretty good live version. A few times a little off, but apparently this was their first show with the additional band members put together for their tour. next album apparently has more live instrumentation,as opposed to just syd and matt playing everything in their studio. mike g is on point

yeahnstore vertical with no lean. Ive left in milkcrates for months just ensure perfect verticality I had an debarge LP warp in the car after just one arvo. Still played it all the time. Rhythm of the night is the shiz.

pricy though. But if you got to get you got to get

Also: if you are going to scratch or manipulate vinyl at all then you need to pick an individual pressing where the centre hole is actually in the centre and not too "sloppy". Sloppy means a hole that is not quite round and which wobbles around the spindle. No one likes a sloppy hole a sloppy hole can be corrected with a few well place stickers ie through the hole a few times to tighten er up! do the grrls mind

oxy loves a good champagne shower

its where its at, but i have to say its a bit of a pain in the ass there is just too much good music out there, so if i had to cop it all on vinyl (if it even existed) i would be broke and would need a mansion. i am definitely no retro enthusiast. i only cop things i know i can't get on mp3 OR its the same price or cheaper than getting on mp3 (i.e. whole albums). but thats it. else ill just get digital version

i guess these days i look for things, or grab things i know. but i remember back in the day of visiting disco city and grabbing a stack based on record labels, remixers, producers, the cover art. then just sitting on the provided turntables listening. i remember one time hearing a sample from bobby browns dont be cruel, the "girrrl", on a really funky beat playing in the background. straight away going to the counter and saying whats that, i want it. i still have that milli vanilli "girl you know its true" 12 inch that was before they were famous! i swear EDIT: the remix on that 12 inch is still the shiz i dont care what anyone says!

refer oxykon blog it gets addictive. i was lucky i had a headstart because i was buying vinyl in the days before consumer cd players were available
-
it is suitable. i think cupe or was it richo has these. but if you buying new at that price, maybe just wait for one of the majors to have a sale. st-150's go for about $500-550 at the sales, and they heaps better. what state you in? EDIT: dont worry, byron bay yeh

anyways i suggest sticking to the techies or any of the OEM turntables (its posted somewhere here, when i get a minute ill pull it out).

any mixer that has two channels is fine. if you want to get into a bit of wigga wigga then a smooth cross fader (and one that lasts) is preferable, but not need for learning. for mixing i rarely touch the cross fader hmmm. this is an argueable point. serato was first, so many that jumped straight onto it, cant move. so a lot of people using vinyl do use serato. traktor scratch pro is however used by a lot of dj's, even some of the best (craze!). again depends on what you want. i pretty much use the dvs nothing more than to be my record crate, so serato and tsp have no advantage to each other. so look into the features available and see whether you will ever need them. also look at your budget. i ended up w tsp purely because it was cheaper at the time. 2 x 1200's - on ebay if you search and wait long enough, you may be able to get at $1K. but up to $2K. Note crundos is selling! 2 x ST-150's new are about $1.5K may be even cheaper. so second hand you should be able to get both for less than a $1K other cheaper brands to look out for second hand are the American Audio ones, vestax (though they are pricy) i assume you mean turntables? vinyl is vinyl, it is the medium you use on the turntables. the main differences are the drives i.e. belt or magnetic. for djing dont go with belt torque i.e. the ability to get to full speed from a stop. now this is also debatable. 1200's have shit torque compared to the market, but have satisfied DJ's for many years. though many top turntablists moved away from them purely because of this reason pitch resolution i.e well same as on cdj's then there are headshells and needles, but these are replaceable

liking that second track. otay my sellect for the day. cant talk posse tracks without native tongues. but going with seomthing a little more recent, and this track featured two people touted as "new"members to the native tongues movement. a lot of time posse tracks were the B-side remix, as was this one. one of my fave tracks of all time, of all time. q-tip smacks it out the ball park. N.E.R.D ft common, mos def, de la soul, q-tip - she wants to move (native tongues remix)
-
while not truly a posse track, not sure what you call it. but have fun picking out everyone! Have not heard this in years george clinton ft a shyte load of peeps - paint the whitehouse black

my posse sellect for the day, was from the Friday Freebies from kanye last year. this one has a fair chunk of the G.O.O.D music crew making an appearance. cudi kills, but i think there is no weak part in this track. not sure of credits but pretty sure its a kanye beat, as im pretty sure there is video of him previewing it to charlie wilson kanye west, kid cudi, common, pusha t, big sean, charlie wilson - G.O.O.D Friday
