  4. have you already got a hifi or stereo system at home? that works. or a guitar amp. dj'd a few times monitoring thru that
  5. haha funniest thang is they wear masks. so they can do an mf doom and send in imposters and no one will be the wiser!
  6. correction! that awesome sampled type beat still comes out of my studio! lol although i do try to keep track of the samples i steal, incase i ever blow up and have to pay those people off! dont get me wrong some great sample based music still comes out (9th wonder!, pete rock, kanye) but just the way they were doing it, and the sheer volumes of samples in just one song can never be done again. which is why songs these days have one main sample (or one song where samples come from); as opposed to every horn, every drum hit, every bass note, every goat sound could have come from a different source. sometimes 1 second worth listening to fear of a black planet or it takes a nation... and just the various sounds which come together to make the "track" is just amazing. cold lampin with flavor sampled 8 tracks!
  7. I don't know of any other sample thats be used to create entire genre's and sub-genres of music so I'd say it's in with a pretty good shout of that title. Think it first appeared (other than as the B-Side on the origin release) on this record aimed at hip hop dj's/producers so i'd imagine trying to find who first cut up the sample would be pretty impossible. http://www.discogs.com/Various-Ultimate ... ase/176831 According to the reliable wiki, a dude named breakbeat lenny released the cut on a bootleg release in 1986 ultimate breaks and beats (which i think you link). lenny hired a dude named louis flores to make the cut
  8. theres a couple of doco's that discuss the whole sampling story (of course including the amen break) there was that one that mainly focused on girl talk, but the other one i liked was the one w qbert on the cover. i think copyright confidential. EDIT: copyright criminals and it showed how no one gave a fuck until someone made money over it. back when people thought hip hop was a cool little fad they didn't care, but when hip hop was in the charts and in the ads and on all your sitcoms/ dramas/ news cutaways etc. then someone's cash radar picked up. and it basically says many of the early great sample based production like public enemys and tribe called quest and de la soul will just never ever happen again. at the sametime though it then gave rise to the 808 generation
  9. if only i could mix... cupe you should do it!!!

  14. pretty sure loops are only quantised in traktor if you have actually beat gridded all your songs. so fark that! yes learn to manually loop
  15. synCaxis but for real what about streetsine retains street; play on the word street sign; refers to sine waves (which sound waves are)
  16. increasing his post count to get into VIP
  17. since people going in for seconds, ill go with my top 5 hip hop beatsmiths. note: this isn't the artist so some you may know as an artist others you'll rarely see on an album cover. so im only talking beats/ production 9th wonder mannie fresh kanye dr dre (been killing it since back in his electro days) EDIT: q-tip EDIT: i swapped out m-phazes who i love, w Q. it just didn't look right without it. but then it made me think of heaps more but then i'd be cheating
  18. if there is any album coming in april im fiending more for than even tyler's is cudi's third studio album. cudi is one of my fave artists of all time, of all time. i guess with what he learnt working with dot da genius on their WZRD collabo, cudi also produced all the beats for this album. its called Indicud coming out at end of april the first single King Wizard rocks. and the second single Just what i am features King Chip (tafka chipp tha ripper), his cleveland brethren. i actually hope king chip comes thru w a studio album one day
  19. out tomorrow here is the second single IFHY featuring pharrell. also previews Jamba w hodgy beats. beats by tyler (he ended up doing whole album. i thought neptunes or pharrell may have done a track but guess it didnt make it ir will show up on earls album)
