i dont totally agree mattus. i think its a well produced, and great album. im not gonna sit here and say its the best. but i love it. and so it wouldnt have mattered if they were no names, a good album is a good album. In fact i think they copped a whole lot of criticism purely because of who they were (refer other daft punk thred). I.e. if it wasnt a fantastic out of the park home run album, people call it crap. anyways another point. all this hate for people who discover an artist on a new album. who gives a shit! how elitist can people be. so only people who were around to see a star begin is allowed to enjoy them! what a joke.

2 x Technics SL 1200/1210 MK2/M3D DJ turntables - SOLD

damn that was quick. adjfer? -
ummm i think that line was becasue he caught himself being critical of their work. which is why he then apologises. so he isnt taking a stab at daft punk, he was merely saying how in his opinion get lucky was not that good yet people are eating it up AND then apologises for being critical AND then further elaborates what he was getting at in terms of people wanting to like whatever is considered cool.

Will.i.am is suing Pharrell Williams over "I am"
eggssell replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
sampling means to take someone elses piece of music and use it your in your own. taking someone elses melody and then claiming it as your own without credit is ripping someone off. and warren g is a legend who brought us gfunk. make no mistake dre made it famous. but it was warren g's sound. oh and i dont really think they meant to steal it. maybe they just had the tune ringing in their head. or maybe kanye was playing it while they were all holed up at the paris hotel. and they "accidentally" walked away with it in their head. i mean it is a great tune -

Daft punk have sampled a shit load of people in their career. They done it well though and got permission. keep in mind they obviously liked Kanye West's and that other Busta Rhymes track that used Daft Punk sampels. This one is just shit nope they didnt sample warren g, nor claimed interpolation. I think people are claiming pure coincidence. but i dont know... from day one of hearing the song i already thought i know this melody (assuming they sampled) -

anyways. ontopic. i think words can hold trademark in US. i remember hearing the story pat riley (coach extraordinaire) coined the phrase three peat thinking his lakers would get to win three championships in a row (they didnt). anyways three years later. the bulls get a three peat. and he ended up suing everyone who cashed in on the phrase (through merch). and lucky for him phil jackson would get three peats two more times in the next decade. so earned a pretty sum -

rihanna has a limited vocal range!!! i agree what an utter mocekry, how dare they say that but on the reals. i have a few thoughts. i think this"ghost-producing" needs to be broken down before that type of accusation. if someone else develops a large piece of music and someone else sells it as though they developed it with no crediting; then that is ghost producing and is wrong. on the other hand if someone is working on a track, and say bangs out a melody on some keys (or maybe even sings it) and talks about their imagining of it. and then someone builds that into a DAW. and that gets used in a track. i would not call that ghost producing. EDIT: another example of this, is if a producer brings in a live musician to add an element. keys, drums, strings. but uses only his voice or description to advise of the sound needed. then the studio musician comes up with the piece. i dont think the producer should be discredited. OR if someone works on something, and someone comes in and effects/ masters/ tweaks it down. i would not call that ghost producing (in fact in the old days that was the job of the "producer" in music).

this is just an fyi for anyone looking to buy i know its been out for ages now, but as per the record store fred this didn't drop in aus on that day. anyways so i felt like getting this over the weekend. not on itunes. only orderable at jb hifi. and some ridiculous price at red eye. so instead i copped from soul temple records (somehow affiliated to wu tang thru producer bob perry) EDIT:see below http://soultemplemusic.bandcamp.com/ was able to get the vinyl copy of the album, and a digital copy of both the album AND the instrumentals for the price of what i could have ordered the cd for at JB now i just got to find the comic...

some of the ones i went to viewtopic.php?f=118&t=8584&hilit=lofi viewtopic.php?f=118&t=5521&hilit=lofi oh yeh and it wasnt alexandria, it was waterloo. ambush gallery. this was an awesome night. dj's rocked it. free vodka. and i ended up meeting sprinkles and commissioning a perso piece viewtopic.php?f=118&t=8034&hilit=sprinkles and its not just a graf or hip hop thang. all art. all tunes. the one at the rocks (which i never did post photos) wasnt graf and it was soul music

its awesome. i havent been for a minute, but a lot of the ones in oz are just art displays while a dj plays. though occassionally the art is live. in the US they have heaps more where artists paint live. the lofi collective hold them at the standard (upstairs from kinsellas) oxford art factory do the secret walls, which i guess is live art. there was also a cool one at the rocks sometime during the summer
