i got a macbook pro from about 3 years ago its aiight. theres a lot about macs that piss me off (i still havent figured out page up/down) especially if using things like excel (no excel for mac is not the same regardless of what people say). but yeh nothing major. i think its just transition pains for being different to what you are used to as to why i went mac over pc when i deaded my trusty 7 yr old XP laptop, i think it was because it seemed like traktor was putting mac users ahead. but tbh the number of times ive used traktor i can probably count on my fingers. when doing comparisons, you do get less for more. from a looks point of view they are pretty schmick. for work i got one of the new slimline dells with the touch screen. only had for a day. nice design and very lite. my 20 mins on the new windows though pisses me off (haha i really do struggle with chnage). took me a while to find out where programs are. haha

i think most people know the red bull music academy lectures. i came across this awesome one from questlove of roots. not so much production techniques in this one (others do) but the stories are awesome. gets a little slow but all the times he is on the equip is awesome.

crate diggers is a cool series that goes thru producers vinyl collection while also talking about them. this one on J Dilla is really nice

100% agree. i think in the most part there are a handful of music snobs, but amongst djs and producers the ratio of snobbiness increases! too many elitist IMO

i know you already said you wouldnt do the wedding, but that was a good choice. for anything that is meant to be memorable, like a wedding, music is too critical. for a non-descript bday party of fam & friends, or a get together of fam & friends, i reckon go for it. when we were young, hiring dj equip and everyone bringing their records to the party and everyone having a go at running the music was the norm. and if the crowd called rewind five times in the row, you would let that same song play five times. ahhh technotronic move this hehe it was some club mix though
