Hiding Jekyll – Lable Tennis (Ethan Mansfield remix)
eggssell replied to ethanmansfield's topic in House & Disco
anyways. ethan im no pro (or producer) so just giving my opinion from the punters point of view. first up and overall i really liked it. dont know the OG track so not sure what you have added or mixed up. so definitely dont be disheartened. if i had to critique, and only because you asking what could have gone wrong, because for me it didnt affect my listening: maybe phrases between 1.20 and 2.30 was to same same, i.e. the mixup should have come earlier. i know it is downtempo and progressive which usually means sounds last for longer. but the bits up to 1.20 seemed to be perfectly spaced. like the change up at 1.00 and then 1.20 seemed perfect. and again at 2.35 and then 3.10. the elimination of elements in the outro was good for me (and standard i guess in these type of tracks). so again nothing wrong with it in my opinion BUT on the other hand if you wanted to spice it up as elements go away, all of a sudden add an element or drum pattern that didnt exist before as it goes out. i know tomy (slop rock) have done it; jonny b does it too. anyways above is just imo, and again putting a monocle on to cut it up which i dont do when i listen to music. -
Hiding Jekyll – Lable Tennis (Ethan Mansfield remix)

bumpin this for ethan in another fred he mentioned he did not make it into the top four of the competition and was looking for some advice. so if anyone has a sec give the homie a hand -
any chance you get to try them at the store? never really tried controllers myself but it might be best, assuming you can of course. i guess like drc mentioned, it depends on what you want to use. i know when i did my pro and con of serato vs tsp, the resolution was both can do exactly what i want. neither looked any better than the other. so price was the only determining factor.

welcome mate come down to the annual adjf meat in melbourne in a couple of weeks. i heard oxy is gonna be running some training sessions
-
i reckon label rules are different than independent but like russell said, i know the big timers in the hip hop world get paid an upfront one off fee to do a remix, so no trail royalties. so if you "good" enough then sure you can make money. and by good i mean pursued enough. with independents as there is no guarantee in any cash flow i assume thye would offer a royalty system. but yeh i guess next time square it up beforehand

doing some work so playing some of my haul from melbourne in the background world class wreckin cru - BS damn dre really has always been a hell of a producer. awesome track
-
cool

you definitely dont have 100%!! even if you had sampled to make your own track you would have to pay a portion. let alone for a remix. sorry cupe but i would think it was up to him. he was a bit of a whale to release it without telling you. tomy would prob be your best bet from a label point of view.

freaking awesome hobberz #bigtime i think he and empia are sipping cocktails surrounded by bikini clad grrls so they dont have time to check in
-
dammmmmnn so do you get anything or is it just for the fame

while I agree it needs to be right area, maybe do a linker in DJHQ to the post in the right area. but to be fair ethan is right we have been pretty piss poor at people listening too and commenting on tracks (me included ), and so I think a lot of track posts fall by the wayside ethan an occasional bump on your track thread can usually boost the chances it gets commented on (and not being a whale buy not commenting now but behind the great wall at the mo)
-
hmmmm I hope you don't get flamed because of a lil' other thing which you were meant to do....... but im sure its all good yeh which in that case umm nice buy. even though its all mumbo jumbo to me. I assume it means all the pr0n!!! oh
-
I was actually gonna ask if you wanted to buy my mpd24. all the pads knobs and sliders you could need I had these delusions of grandeur I would use them with tsp. then realised I don't use anything in traktor that would require it I was then gonna sell it to jonny but we kind of got wires crossed (i was holding it for him till he was ready then didn't get his message till like three days after he was ready and he needed it sorry again jonny ) and so its now been sitting there

Nice bring back, ill get in on this too as not running off any playlists today kid cudi - the sky might fall this track was from cudi's second mixtape, but also got added to his first album. beats by kanye. this track used to drive my ex missus nuts cuz the monotone voice sounded like chanting to her In other news new cudi album dropped this week!
