ill try to be as flameless as possible... but in the end i think its about personal opinion. for me i prefer pc because i actually value choice. i dont want something to be locked down and restricted, and be told what i can't and can do with my machine. also i like to have the newest of the new with computers because its forever moving, while apple always lags behind by about 6-12 months (i mean where are their i7 notebooks?? probably not for another 3 months when everyones already moved on) hmmm.. i dont think thats quite right. ive used premiere on a pc for about 7 years without issue. and i think since mac came intel way its all the same. i mean office or even traktor was written with pc in mind and it works just as well on a mac. and itunes!!! you're kidding right. looks sweet as, but its restrictive as buggery!!! and probably has the least selection of possible file types of any media player. i mean yeah i use it but thats because apple mp3 players are so "good" you have to plug it into a machine to do any type of setup with it... and even that they restrict how many machines you can use??? admittedly i havent used safari except for on an iphone. and its dumb. for all us muso fans, grab an iphone, go to your fave music blog, check out the latest mixxx by your fave dj, download it and then put it into your playlist... oh wait you cant!! but you can with any other phone that has a browser, even those from 4 years ago! as i said it really is about personal preference, and both can work. apple is like your business xmas party, nice and safe, the choice of drinks are limited and there are a lot of rules but you can still have a lot of fun. while pc is like going clubbing, you can buy what you want, stay out for as long as you want, and basically do what you want, yeah youll pick up a virus here and there along the way, but youll have a shyte load of fun! EDIT: ha ha oops that came off a bit narky. to be honest my experience has come from an ipod and an iphone, which both just irritate me sometimes and make me wonder what is apple thinking. e.g why disable the hard drive of the iphone! and in terms of their lag behind in technology. i remember waiting in eagerness for the mac book pro's to come with dual core processors, and when they finally did 6-8 months after everyone else, they were only using the slower end processors??? i was like What The!

ha ha. i just realised what you were talking about (i think). do you mean the right hand turntable. thats the qbert turntable with built in mixer, i think vestex makes em. the dj kid with the funny dance moves (dj ryusei) is using one from memory in the vid i posted previously.

it has a sync function but i dont use it (i dont actually even know how, i think from that ni forum post it said if you use vinyl the feature is disabled), and i dont think i need it i sync tracks using the tt's pitch control and i only want the 3rd deck fro samples or playing a loop which ill use the tt's to beatmatch too.
-
finally, found something that confirms you can do what i need. i guess its like what you were saying wazza, traktor can take any midi you just have to program it. anywho found this on the ni forum: http://www.traktorworld.com/forum/showt ... hp?t=93920 while there is a lot of complaints about not being able to sync, which i dont use anywho, there were lots of peeps doing exactly what i intended, two time code and one internal for loops or samples also found this comparison about low end midi's: http://www.djtechtools.com/2008/08/08/p ... smackdown/

checked the 4d. might be too much of an overkill for me because yes i will be using along w/ decks. so if anything just the 1d like richie hawtin does. as above im probably not sure what i will use in future probably fx banks, but definitely for now i am looking for loading tracks, setting loops and setting cues. a bonus would be to control one of the internal decks (be it 3 or 4 or both) while still having the time code on 1 & 2. i still can't figure out whether the xone 1d or kontrol x1 can allow this. oh yeah and 1d prob out of my budget, but if i decide i want it i may wait. unlike when i got a 2 channel mixer when now i wish i had 3!!!!! (ha ha but i just use the mic input since it has EQ)

go rock it man! tomy ftw

hmmm. that looks okay, but i dont really need 4 deck control as i have the TT's and actually only want the 3rd deck to maybe trigger samples. obviously if i could load tracks fast enuff (i.e not touch laptop) i could probably drop using one of the tt's. but i was just thinkning if i had one playing, one beat matched ready to go, and just wanting to drop a sample, access to a 3rd deck would be nice. and as mentioned i was considering an akai in case i ever get into production. i like what this guy does, using the vinyl and the akai to load and cue. but i know it will cost me, but its the same price as the Kontrol X1

i dont actually use the effects (yet) in traktor, as the reloop iq2 has 5 or 6 effects built in. in essence all i really want is to be able to browse and load tracks in to deck a & b (which are the tt's). and maybe set off loops. i dont actually use cue points (again yet) either. but would probably like to be able to set and go to cues, and therefore will also need the ability to switch from relative to absolute (though i do already have it set to auto switch back to absolute when loading a new track). can you recommend any wazza? also having looked at heaps of articles, forums and videos of the Kontrol X1, i dont actually think it can control a 3rd internal deck in full, while also providing effects/ transport/ loading control over the 2 DVS decks. am i wrong?
-
yeah i saw that, and the dj rafik demo rocked. partially what made me think i want something. tossing up though whether to wait for that, or get an akai mpd which i can use for traktor and other things. but then a part of me is saying am i just getting greedy! considering i havent mastered djing let alone getting into producing. i guess just thinking ahead.

hey ive done the search in this forum and couldnt find anything, point me in the right direction if it already exists. anyone using/ have used traktor scratch pro with a MIDI controller. if so which one, what do you use it for, and what are the goods and the bads. is it possible to get the MIDI to fully control an internal deck, while providing loops, effect, and loading control for the turntables? cheers

hip hop still lives man. lots of nu school stuff rips. dont mistake becoming popular with selling out. im feeling kid cudi (who unfotunately for him was shoved into stardom by that one dance track), kanye jacked his style for 808. wale kills it, check his 9th wonder mixtapes (of course it could be because its got 9th wonder producing). im loving all the return to boom bap, which beat port is calling club hip hop. and then there is still heaps coming out that aint popular. i comped Felt 3 last week (the MURS and Slug collabo), which rocks. as did the blackroc project, which as i may have mentioned probably pipped my best album of the year. so the next gen of hip hop is very much alive. and i love oz hip hop. in general there probably isnt a great variety in vocal melody, but i think oz hip hop production in a lot of cases is better then the international counterparts because of the use of live instruments and/ or the turntable which is nearly all but gone in a lot of current hip hop. just my 50 cents..

hey are there any online sites that do good hip hop? beatport has got a lot of the ones that have crossed to club hip hop, and juno has most UK grime but there is still a massive gap. i mean i can't even find dj class except on itunes and one radio edit on beatport. and none of them have hip hop mixes i.e the ones you normally find on the 12". i know these days they are mostly posse mixes (where every tommy G, Bigg dick and hizzarry from the label hops on for a verse..ive seen a busta cut with up to 8 homies on there), but occassionally you'll still get the standard club mix, or a particular genre mix like a bmore mix, and maybe even instrumental and acappellas. or do these just leak to the blogs so regularly now the labels aren't bothering to release them. i could resort to buying 12" again, but that defeats the purpose of traktor, and ill likely just rip it so i can still use traktor, and its damn expensive. and yeah yeah i could mix it myself, one day!!
