  1. hey dj angelo just posted up a routine using a reloop iq2 (the mixer i have). for budding scratchers check his tutorial videos on you tube (also linked out of dj tutor and studio scratches). they are very explanatory and have a nice you try as you watch feel to them.
  2. hey man. i didnt think the genre was really my style (im kinda shyte when it comes to defining genres though) but i do like the occassional dubstep track and i really enjoyed the mixxx. maybe its time to start scoping batport for dubstep he he. i liked the second half best, and the mixing throughout seemed seemless. you do this with all vinyl and cd's huh? ive got about three wtf mixes, never heard it used that way, and must admit i prefer some of the other mixes.
  3. hi 5.4 cm (according to wiki). how old is your machine? do you think you have PCMIA rather then a express slot. maybe let us know what machine you have.
  4. any other traktor scratch pro peeps use the akai and want to share how to map this thing?
  5. welcome man
  6. that was the shiznit!
  7. hey dennis. read the OP question. he needed firewire slots not memory card slots?
  8. hey man welcome
  9. welcome mate
  10. hey hoops. in an earlier post i mentioned some tips about RnB but i think the same goes for hip hop. its hard to transition because of the lack of empty phrases (i.e. no vocals or defining melody). in the old school people would mix into an instrumental of the next track, then go from the instrumental into the original mix of the song. this allows you to make a long mix if you want. Note however the phrases are probably only 8 bars long. if your quick enough you can mix into the outro of a song which may be all music, then quickly mix from the outro into the same song but at the position that you want. this trick is probably more for RnB but some hip hop tracks have extremely long outros that then go into the fade (of course some tracks have people preaching over the outro so of course you cant use that, e.g the end of every tupac song). if you using a digital vinyl system create a 8 bar loop of an insrumental part (the intro or just after bridge at the break), then mix into this first, and then mix into the song. because its instrumental and looped you can even do a long mix. i too just dived right in and tried to do hip hop/ club hop and was finding it extremely difficult, then went back to house at least to master beat matching and phrase matching. so all of the above is theoretical but i got the the first tip from z-trips how-to part of the scratch documentary, and the third tip is pretty much the first tip but using loops. the second tip i came up w/ in my head but have yet to try.
  11. hey tomy like amd said pcmia are on older laptops, but chances are you have an express slot. it looks kinda the same but slightly smaller. on both my machines they are on the right hand side underneath the sd/mmc memory card thing (its probably on the other side of your cd/ dvd drive). one of mine has a pop out cover, the other one has a flap thing. anywho belkin have a few express slot firewire thins, one even gives you another usb adaptor. heres one of them from the aus belkin site. but the international belkin site had about two or three others http://www.belkin.com/au/IWCatProductPa ... _Id=461460

  20. hey chris (i posted here rather then hijack the xmas one) is it more for dance genres or do you think its worthwhile across the board, i.e. breaks or hip hop or bmore? ill prob always be dropping a lot of funk house and disco so im probably gonna get it anywho, but was just wondering whether its actually useful in other genres.
  21. hey man... welcome
  22. i was gonna try to get a midi controller, but may actually play around with hot keys. (i forgot if im just dropping samples ican use the keyboard to control the 3rd deck.. derr..) anywho, the missus wanted the dining table back (it had my laptop, external hard drive and the audio 8 on it) so im gonna have to find a desk or case and stand or something to house everything! i may get mixed in key...
  23. why dont you make music using your ftw mac?
  24. nuff said. pwned by your own hands! corrected your sentence. really. build me a macbook pro with an i7 processor, 1TB memory, DDR3 ram, blu ray or light scribe dvd drive, thats under factory warranty and email me a link and i may actaully crossover. oh wait but then i would have to live in the mega controlled concentration apple camp . no thanks. look we've only come to educate you with a stick cuz you came out stabbing (check your first post), but truth is you're delving into serato vs traktor, af1s vs chucks, ford vs holden, vhs vs beta, left hand vs right hand... its just about what ever works for you.
  25. anyone going an envy, get the dr dre beats edition. now that rocks (though hp is bloody expensive and doesnt even come with 1TB hard drives!)
