What is the best budget set up for begineers?
eggssell replied to Jaytee's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
forget savings spill it all.... ha ha!. i mean carne whats cash for except means to an end. djing makes you happy so do it!!!! (disclaimer: thats from someone drowning in debt... ha ha) anywho, sourceravers comment sounds smart. the controller and traktor will get you into the beatmixing, phrasematching and all that intro stuff. and its expandable such that you can add tt's or cdj's later if you ever want to. however because of the use of a dvs, dont rule out getting tt's just because of cost or difficulty in getting vinyl. other than scratch records since buying my tt's i haven't bought a single record (course i had a crate full of old school house, funk, hip hop and new jack records from when i was a youngin) -
hmmmm. hey buck don't think you need a dvs to have 4 decks, you could do that with a 4 channel mixer? but yes you can achieve 4 decks with less decks using a DVS (ha ha that sounds confusing!!) junior, there is no normal these days. there are controller only dj's; controller plus one cd/tt dj's; 2tt & 1 cd dj's etc. i must admit its rare to see one of each, its usually 2 of the same or 2+1 (be it either way). however as a beginner, i have to say setting yerself two learning curves may be a bit steep, of course if you can handle it then why not. i started with two tt's and tried to add in a controller which is now gathering dust because i realised i still have to master just mixing... (but it will be revived one day!!!!) note: ive never used cdj's so don't actually know how different the learning curves will be, cuz they have sync buttons and all that jazz

hey man sorry as i said ill only be lurking for this month. wazza's ya man for Cross, but in terms of traktor: * go the audio 8 because you can record, and in case you ever want to add somehting else (i run two tt's and i added an mpd) * you'll need traktor scratch for time control * in terms of yer other q about free software. no its a license string thang. so you can run the program without the NI sound cards (unlike serato), but only in internal mode. but note time code won't work without official NI sound cards or official cntroller/ mixer yer in syd right, store dj grand (re)opening sale at stanmore this w/e. may be able to get a bargain!

How did you come up with your stage / DJ name?
eggssell replied to LabRat's topic in DJ Headquarters
hey audion, mat dear frm canada uses audion as one of his aliases. just something to keep in mind when ya hit bigg!! i googled potential names. i couldnt even go with my name cuz there was an already respected RnB dj with that name. and i thought of like some that i thought i had come up with, and it would end up being some porn site!! -
top info tomy!!
-
oh yeah and in terms of reloop, its bigg in germany and known in netherlands (seen it in several forums). no idea about their controllers but i have the iq2 mixer. its sweet as. faders are smooth as. the effects are awesome and simple (the cross fader effects are stupid). i have played with an older pioneer (not sure which one but it had 4 channels), and the iq2 faders killed it, and effects much easier to use. downside which i kick myself often, only 2 channels!. and no reversible cross fade switch (not that id ever use it, but just in case qbert ever visited... ha ha)
-
yep you can record w/ traktor scratch pro (not sure about duo). there is a traktor comparison page on the Native Insruments site.
-
de ja vu didnt you say that for the you tube challenge too. ha ha ha. just hacking at ya.
-
welcome. hip hop hooray ho hey ho hey ho...
-
check djtechtools, i get heaps o my traktor stuff from there. im pretty sure Ean Golden recently did a write up of using multiple controllers. or the Native Instruments forum but there's like a 1000 posts a day!

damn telegram, i cant believe its been that long!! sorry for the late response! yeh my system aiight, got sub and tweets (not as good as my bose system in my old car, which funnily enuff was a cheaper car). anywho: yep gave it listen, and actually had it rockin in my Feb picks playlist; and is in my March picks playlist. Overall as a sound, cant say its one i normally listen too so cant comment on how it fits i w/ the whole dubstep genre. in terms of production, top notch man, sounds pro for sure. you got some chops on ya! get that shit on beatport and get paid!! Dust Storm has to be my fave, real good track. that intro is tops where the keys(?) get faster into the bass is f'n awesme. and just that haunting melody is really good. the use of the lazers are cool to. i can definitely see myself chilling back at a sunset (rise) with a beverage in hand to The Step and After Dark. nice chill factor. Now Nostalgia was a nice intro tack, and i swear i was waiting for MC shureshock to come on and drop lyrical. you should fire this off to kid kenobi mann fits perfect as an intro to their dub sets!!!! anywho thats my amateur review with little or no tips (ha ha), but all good. though dust storm and the step i liked on first listen the rest of the tracks have grown on me.

ursula 1000 - zombies(knocked up noise remix) dutch house
eggssell replied to JonnyB's topic in House & Disco
hey strangers... on holiday for a bit so was busy as a mo at work last week and only time to lurk for the next couple weeks (still owe cairo a full review!!.. and i had one planned too) but checked this song and had to drop in. this is tha shiznit. i still dont get genres for shyte (does dutch house mean anything from netherland..he he), anywho yeh man this pretty much what i rock (aside from bmore). nice cut up beats with vocal drops that eventually just goes off!! thumbs up. all hands up... EDIT: only just realised it was a remix.. heh. anywho still nice work. -
hey man. downloading, will have a listen driving to work, and pop my comments on when i next get on.
-
nah man sorry not in the production biz. still trying to get my dj game up to scratch. anywho, popped on my cans and gave it a listen. as i said above i really liked it. nice amount of changes yet still cohesive to be a single tune; as per version one i like the breaks into the wonk; introductions of vocal samples like at 1.57 keep the track interesting and i love my short vocal drops!; the break into build at 2.27 to 3.00 before the big suspense build is my fave bit really builds you to that climax. EDT: oh yeah i also like at 1.27 where it sounds like a record stop. one thing though in the intro, i thought maybe the melody/riff was out from the beat, but having gone over it and over it and compared it to the outro, i think there is a wayward percussion sound makin it sound off. its a higher end percussion (maybe a snare) at 0.16, 0.20, 0.24... actually only every second one is really noticeable but as i said im not in production but it seems to throw it off.

hey man was bumping last night on the lappy while doing some stuff (havent touched decks in a bit ) sounds awesome. i likes. wanted to write a full critique but didnt get around to it, and cant get the sound cloud up here so i can refer to time points, so ill try to do tonight. but yeah it was good.
-

WHATS EVERYBODYS ALL TIME FAVOURITE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD WEBSITE
eggssell replied to christianfloyd's topic in DJ Headquarters
anyone ever do turntabelab. im a big xxxchange fan, and followed a link for his new remix cd and realised turntablelab have heaps of stuff i like for abouts 1.49US which ends up cheaper than beatport and juno. just had a quick look at their stuff, and they got most of the labels i follow on beatport stones throw, fools gold, mad decent, kitsune, and i think i even saw ninja tunes. ALSO forgot to mention in my juno salespitch, they have 3-4 tracks free every month and there not too shabby, last weeks better run afrojack remix rocks. -
id love to, and i gots plenty of toons, too bad i still suck!... heh else ill be on there like flies to shyte. so where's it at? if yer allowed to say.
