heres a track from the before mentioned judgement night album featuring onyx and biohazard. onyx who are the shit. if you have never heard of them go get bacdafucup. one of my fave albums of all time. of all time

here is some old body count. this one doesnt have a lot of hip hop elements, though other tracks did that break at 3.18 perfect to be sampled wrxit!

also if you are digging the metal with hip hop sound OR the nu-metal/ dj in a band sound i recommend listening to two soundtracks Judgement Night - (which is where that Faith No More/ Boo-Ya-Tribe track comes from) which saw hip hop acts collabing with other genres. the entire album is gold. Spawn - this had metal acts combining with dance music acts i love both those albums

i wouldnt say rage started it. id go with bodycount. but even then there were a lot of groups (on the rap and metal side) who would fuse it for various tracks. this was post bodycount and pre-rage and a bloody good track! this is public enemy covering their own track but this time featuring anthrax
