  3. not quite hip hop video but no where else to put it (and section is def best place for it). loving this song, clip is aiight too
  4. did you google first up and see if maybe he was first? ive said this before, my name is lex and i knew there was already a well known rnb dj in oz with that name so i thought of using x.el (pronounced ex el, which is the closest way of reading lex backwards). but then a google search found someone already uses x'el. tried heaps of variations excel, XL, triple X L etc. but all taken, and then eventually came up w/ eggs sell. in each country there are a few repeats for dj's or any artists. i always see this billing for fatt lip and think oh wow the rapper fatt lip is playing a pub in alexandria, but considering they are billed as playing weekly i figured oh it aint the rapper. and i think we determined theres a handful of moonchilds.

just check the clause though on home insurance plans as it probably excludes using for commercial purposes

    hi

hey man welcome sound like me, an appreciator of music with a long club/gig tenure. i prob only have aspirations to learn to mix for making mixtapes for mates then break the club scene though.
  9. hey mate
  10. didnt get time to read much on the newsaskew site only saw one of his twitter responses on there to someone asking if he coming to perth as well. but i assume probably for one of his evenings with kevin, i.e. a Q & A sesh.
  11. watch this vid instead. i know peeps are divided with uffie. i likes her. cant say this track is one of her best but its grown on me, in fact i think the later bits and pharrels parts are better than the first phrase
  12. for anyone thats an ed banger fan (medhi; uffie; feadz; breakbot; mr oizo; busy p etc.) or a skate fan, they celecrated their bday party and together with etnies are going to be having 7 webisodes posted up at the site below. http://www.konbini.com/the-ed-banger-se ... -trailer-1 didnt bother embedding as its only a lil preview.
  13. Off topic: kevin smith coming to opera house in august!!
  14. hmmm. his dubstep post was legible though, but seems to be the common three posts with a link in the sig thing you get from most bots.

  18. hey man
  19. hey nice going cbg. biggup. sorry armed at work so firewalled.
  20. not only producers, i think any dj that chooses to use a dvs plays out with a laptop. a-trak; craze; z-trip; ?uestlove; steve aoki; carl cox; carl craig; diplo; ritchie hawtin; fatboy slim; nic fanciulli; ritchie hawtin; david morales; flash; bambata; jazzy jeff; pete tong; dubfire; zabiela; hector romero; nadastrom; peanut butter wolf; sasha; all the new turntablists like rafik and shiftee and so on. though admittedly i did read somewhere in netherlands dvs are rarely used by top dj's (as per dj armed's email) but neither are turntables, its all cdj.
  21. speaking of laptops do you think its just australia, or is it the size of the club? looking at all the big fests; as well as a lot of you tube vids of overseas club dj's pretty much a large % of the dj's have a laptop be it traktor or serato. especially the bigger the event the more likely you see a laptop. i think every single dj who played out at roc raida's tribute used a laptop. ive seen serato in a few pubs, and at least 5 of the cockle bay places the djs are always rocking macs though couldnt tell you if it was serato or traktor. have never seen anyone using laptop only or a control.
  22. once i get me iphone and can soundcloud from my phone ill be on these like speedy gonzalez. for now have to wait till i get my soundcloud nights, and then check everyones sound cloud and try to search in adjf for the relevant threads (which is why sometimes i review not in the order they were posted).
  23. it may be a crappy mixer but dj warehouse are giving one away if you fill out a long surver. could always ebay it i guess...
  24. hey jonny i think you need to distinguish the two, someone who uses turntables to "dj" and turntablism. the whole term turntablists was to distinguish themselves from other dj's because they believe they had moved away from what a dj does. as per the doco scratch they see themselves as performers or musicians where their instrument was the tuntable. of course a lot of these guys go on to be awesome regular dj's (atrak, craze). yeah i see what you mean that a dj who uses turntables has to achive a greater level of skill to do what they do. however i too was in the crowd that believed cdj users werent dj's (like many famous dj's too in the day like norman cook). and as i mentioned the first peeps to start using them at house parties we ridiculed as being fakers or posers. years of clubbing later i don't feel that way anymore. and these days there is no way you could tell someone who had only used cdj's they are not a dj. so that advancement from the turntable days didn't really hurt the scene, did it? again i aint pro, and am only a person with interest in the scene. and yeah you're right about the shitty entertainer but still a great dj.
