bam! repped. ha ha of course dirt style's #1 spruiker would spot that anywhere. -
are you using time code vinyl? if so you can't use sync. you mention controller so i assume not (though like me and many others i use a controller with my dvs setup so just checking). outside of that its prob because the tracks that aren't syncing have not been beat gridded. and if you have used auto beat grid it has taken the wrong starting point; ANOTHER possible cause is the track is an unbeatgriddable track (such as one that has used a live drummer or has sampled a large portion from a live drummer). for the former problem, just go in and manually beat grid. for the latter problem you will need to use another software (a lot of peeps use ableton) to standardise the beat. heaps of tutes about beat gridding around, when i get all my shyte sorted next week at the new place ill do a search. in the meantime head to djtechtools and the NI forum and search for beat gridding. that is assuming this is the prob.

got rid of slide show and put static pics. plus rep to whoever guesses the first vinyl to the right of the hifi. -
dont get skull candy's! well not the standard people one's anywho. i got the popular gi or the gt (cant remember but it had a g in it). nice looking cans, and sound actually okay (compared to your out of the box ipod ones); however i dont know how much outside noise they are actually blocking despite being closed type. but the reason i say dont get em for djing, i had them for normal use for about 6 months before i bought my decks and it was all good, but then when i started using them for djing they broke after about 2 weeks. despite being able to swivel every which way it is quite flimsy. mine broke where the cups are being held. just my 2 cents from a past user. oh yeah that and because other djs laff at skull candy users ha ha. but there is a lot of hate in djism. turntable users hate cdj users who hate controllerists who hate vdj users who hate pc users who hate and so on....you get the drift

UPDATED with pics sorry about size. will try to fix when i gets home. else just zoom yer browser. oh just realised that its some sort of flash slide show thingy (used my phone which can do flash.. go htc ha ha. dont worry within a week i will be an apple clone too). will try to put static pics for all the iphone people. -
hearts +rep man that was great thorough advice! for OP, in my opinion if you can afford to go vinyl with dvs i'd say go that. just read the million posts re: i wish i had started on vinyl etc. etc. etc. and with the dvs it mwans you can use all the cd's you already have while learning on vinyl. else cdj's will be keep you plenty busy and be more than enuff to play electronic dance music. also you prob won't need dvs initially if you go the cdj way so you can get yerself some alright ones. as to what ones refer hearts epic post.

does your mixer plug have a grounding pin? i know european mixers stock without one, so ozzie distributors (well the reputable ones) actually are meant to swap out the manufacturer chords with one that has a grounding pin. which if you then use a laptop in your setup creats ground loops ha ha....
-
yeah i agree with cupe. dirtstyle has all the constant beat tracks you need, and they range from straight old school breakbeats, to jungle, to bluesy and you get all the fressshhhh, aaaahhs, yos, oh yeaahhhs, screeatch, uggghs, alien blips to use as well. and if you using serato you can do like i did record it, and then have one deck as vinyl pass thru and one deck using the mp3.

UPDATE: discount for adjf members with more than 10 posts see post below hey all sorry ive been absent a bit as mentioned in my excuse im on the move! good news is move happening next week so should be back to normal and even better news im selling stuff. thought id hop on here because peeps always looking for DJ stand solutions. i am selling what i was using which was a black glass "console". very sturdy, was holding my two stanton turntables and a mixer comfortably. and very stylish for all those who have other halves who demand style to allow you put in a main living room rather then holed up in the spare room... . http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Freedom-Black-Gl ... 3f01c64d08 was originally $500 when i bought it, and still perfect. EDIT: can only fit tt's in standard position not battle position. dimensions in ebay listing, dont know how big cdj's are but i assume they are no bigger than turnies right? EDIT: This was my setup using the console as a stand (gotta love the OG Technics Hi Fi, one of the last Technics to be all made in Japan)

how are these different from using USB on cdj's? anywho, yeah i got a stack of vinyl collected between 85-91 plus the entire beatles collection i inherited (ran off with ) from my old man. but since going dvs the only vinyl i have bought are battle records.
