yeah same hardware dennis but i am assuming these peeps are keeping os and running native os programs so runs a little different

not sure as i have never used cdj's but sounds like like traktor scratch. are you trying to replicate what they currently have? i.e. do you intend on buying traktor scratch? if you going cdj's w/ usb capability i didnt think you actually needed any software? again its prob best answered by buck or skank or wazza as im not too clued in on using a dvs with cdj's

oh im not saying it wont work. i use the older style 2.33 Ghz core 2 duo with 2GB ram using Traktor Scratch and it works a charm. start up & shut down is a bit long and im sure ram would help. in fact my old school core 2 still bench marks better than some of the newer versions which chose energy efficiency over power. but back on topic, yeah it will do it, but i was just saying with computers i find buying the best you can get of a particular model (especially apples who use more tried and sure yet older hardware) it will last you longer. i bought my asus about 4 years ago now and at the time it was the top of the pops, and as i said last i looked (about a year ago) it would still keep up with the low-mid end of what was being released. and ive had no issues of using up to date current software or updates.

on a more cereal note. why core 2 duo? go the i5, and definitely get as much RAM as you can. apple already use outdated hardware on releases as it is, try to at least get the latest, becuase youll find as your software advances and takes advantage of new technologies, you will get left behind with outdated hardware. when you say you will be using the CDJ's with traktor, is that as traktor scratch? or as a midi to control traktor? if traktor scratch, the extra ram will definitely help.

yeah if you upgrade the ram in a mac a little message gets sent to cupertino, and the apple army bust down your door and chop off your little finger (2nd offence and you lose your toes).

hey mate and to add personal experience try juno usually ends up cheaper and you get sometimes different tracks you wouldnt get on beatport... since switching i never by beatport unless i have discount voucher or its a us release and the wait to juno is too long (but that is a rare case) 

yo, 1210's are just the black 1200's. but went to professor wiki, and your right they are discontinued (not from the rumor of last year, actually only officially announced in June), but its all models and marks. shyte huh. yeah for sure the gtr goes well but in 10 years the gtr will be pretty crappy and being driven by a p-plater who scored it for about $4K, while in 10 years that 911 will still be used for long road trips to the hamptons running as good as ever

technics arent discontinued? thats a rumour that comes up every couple of years when panasonic arent making budget, but im pretty sure they are still in production. and as to whether st-150's chomp technics... yes the st-150s go really well. only thing it has on 1200 MK2 is the non click at 0, but i have a feeling my st-150's will die earlier than if i had bought technics. but at the time i couldnt afford them and i searched ebay for about 2 months straight, and they would all go for $600+ and they were all 8-10 yrs old (i would always ask for the serial number). skank what is the torque on the st-60's. i ve heard its a little unnerving moving up from slower torque machines to the st150's, 1200, or the american audio one, because you have to put a lot more effort to stop and hold the vinyl. but that was ages ago when i first started doing my homework (so cant remember if it was ppl going from belt to direct) oh yeah and yes the pitch lock on the ST150's will never get used.

djaz for shizo put yr mixes up this is a dj forum too not just production. a lot of mixes dont get commented on only because its hard to listen to a 10 min or 30 min thing in a sitting. but if you leave it up eventually someone hops on it. cbg gave me tons of help on my rookie mix (and it was way rookie and has been dumped in some land fill out in the boondocks). i mean if you clearly say yr only a padawan then train wrecks are aiight if most of it is aiight

when you say cdj is controlling, do you mean via time coded cd or as a MIDI? i am assuming the former. if so then it should be based on the input setup and which ports you have things wired to the audio 8. just make sure your CDJs are plugged into deck a & b. my kit is still in a box right now and ill unpack and double check my answer. or buck get on this you use cdj...
