  1. yeah thats what i mant by a skin. you see them for consoles snd computers so i figured someone would do em for turnies. nice pickup wazza.
  2. yeah mos def rep sourceraver the man with the knowledge
  3. yeah i think its being targeted at playing live not production
  4. will it be a picture plate of a nice grrl from barbados at the beach? then yeah ill order doubles
  5. http://liine.net/griid/product.html
  6. fark im trying to rack my brain who the dj's were so i can grab the interviews. im pretty sure one wa sin dj mag, then the other one was just online. it stuck in my head because i read both in the same week. and for the record i liked both the producers and reckon now they probably kill it in the booth, was just taken aback by the comment. okay back to topic (sorry djaz). i am also a fan of peanut butter wolf. i dont know a hella lot about him and only heard like 2 or 3 mixes, but saw him on sunglasses is a must then heard his scion mix and read about his label and think he's pretty cool in that he uses a lot of old old school in his mixes (jazz, blues, and stuff)
  7. no this dude in the interview said he had no idea about djing what so ever. so he just played back to back some of his remixes, some mates remixes and whatever was hot. thats the bit that i thought, hmmmm there are plenty of good djs out there and they are probably bumping your shyte already making you famous, you don't need to be taking their job too!!!! and im not talking about the peeps who pretty much mix/ produce/ play out live on stage. your right thats a performance. im talking straight up doing a dj set only because they are famous. and yeah of course, production is a million times harder. i mean like its all good that all y'all on here would never get up and dj without knowing how, and its all good these peeps eventually learned because they wanted to, i just dont think its right to say "hey everyones loving your remix we want you to come in the booth so we can put you on the flyer". again how different is that to a celebrity dj.
  8. hmm not much the biggest being the no zero click, which if you already using 1200's you either mind or dont mind. a few anti skating things which you probably dont use. go M5G then there are advancements. the odyssey face plates look okay but there unfortunately no black. what about skins? do they exist?
  9. hmmm id go with neither (unless you got spare cash around to spend on 1210's when you already have 1200's). get face plates. ive seen lots of mirrored ones im sure there is black. but yeah i wouldnt paint it thats for sure
  10. just in case anyone was wondering. you can stream 1197 from your iphone. it doesnt use an app, but if you click on listen live, then click on broadband it will launch quicktime and start streaming. hey tomy the blog says monday and thursday?

    netbooks

yeah thats why look at cnet or toms hardware. what about those little asus machines? more expensive than acer, but cheaper than hp. dont you run an iphone forum???
  12. i look at the people on adjf who post up killer mixes; get on radio; get killer gigs; and produce hot tracks..thats no joke yo, i really like when one of you homies get a score. oh and a-trak (as a dance dj/ producer not a turntablists), z-trip & kid kenobi are pretty inspirational in that i love their mixing styles. a little off track yet related to the two peeps you guys said above. what are peoples take on producers cum dj's who get gigs from actual dj's (as oppossed to back in the day, you had the likes of pete tong or dr dre or guru who were dj's first and then started producing) . i know we all go on about "fake dj's" scoring gigs because they can bring a million mates; they act; they have big boobs; they suck dick etc. but ive read twice now (i know one dude was from busy p's label i cant remember the other dude, maybe one of the bigg dutch dudes) of producers who got booked dj gigs based on their remixes/ production which were killing the clubs, and they both admitted they knew absolutely nothing about djing. one dude learnt on the tour bus off other peeps on his label, while the other one did the digital dj thing until someone taught him how to use a cdj. isnt that pretty shitty in terms of the whole too many fake people in the dj world. i mean a dj who produces and uses that to break their dj career (as we've said in a million threads its a great way to break into the scene) is fair enuff; but booking an absolute noob to do a set! how is that different from getting paris hilton into the booth to move the cross fader across. EDIT: not saying that deadmaus or trek used their production to get booked dj jobs, it was more that they are producers first and foremost

    netbooks

never heard of eMachines but its actually just a range of netbooks by Acer (who i have heard of). its down the line with Acer some say they suck az, others say they are good value (still not the best machine just good value machines). check cnet and toms hardware to see if anyones reviewed the machine.
  15. ohhh the diaomnd specialist place http://www.secrets-shhh.com/index-july you going upmarket with this release
  16. oh a couple of things came to mind. we all talking about you getting a DVS setup, but if you dont have a laptop/ computer its not gonna help as that will eat up a good lot of your budget. other thing was you said you had 2G right. well if you wait for a sale you could get a setup with that much, and the dj shops sale all the time. i watched ebay for donkeys but ended up getting my gear for just over 2G, but if you can score the SL1 for the cheaps then keeping within budget should be okay. i got the st150's for $650 ea (damn they only $690 now, they were retailing for about $799 back then) and traktor scratch for $690. i had planned to use my mates old SA1 mixer (i think that what it was called ) but its cross fader curve switch was fugged so i bought the reloop IQ2 for $550. (in retrospect seeing as i never use the cross fader to mix only for scratch, and the curve was stuck on scratch mode i prob could of used it). total spend $2,540. anywho what im getting at is on a sale day you could prob get the stantons for less than $650 since their retail price has dropped (say $600). get the stanton SA3 (retails $390 so sale prob $350). so then if you can score an SL1 for $450-$500 you'll have a DVS system for about $2,000. if you can't just buy 2 dirt style records and practice with those until you can afford/ find a SL1 (or you may fall in love with vinyl and never look back! ). nearly every tutorial ive seen except maybe dj angelo (whos tutes are awesome as he does combos and allows you to play with him) use the dirt style super seal records anywho
  17. sheesh of course the internet! i mean im sure your pressing some nice double LP picture plates, but for the internets which provider juno, beatport, dance music hub, pirate bay.
  18. where at cupesta?
  19. the rane scratch live mixer (as per wazz above) would blow your budget right out already. you could easily get a cheaper 2 channel mixer and buy a 2nd hand SL1 (Skank selling right now check the buy & sell gear). as to serato or traktor scratch, check the q-bert video in the turntablism section! he he. nah whatever is clever. you have old scratch champs like a-trak who do serato; and craze who does traktor. for tt's, just make sure direct drives and good torque (only because i have read if you go from lower torque to the full torque machines its intimidating). the technics range is definitely the best but you have to watch everyday to get a good 2nd hand pair. a lot will go for about $600 ea but every once and a while ive seen a pair go for $1,000. that or save forever to get a brand new pair
  20. yeah silent discos are a bit dumb at a fest. i think they aiight when organised in a public place. like didnt the flash mob crew organise a massive silent disco in the london tube, and heaps of peeps showed up and rocked it. that would of been cool.
  21. eggssell

    yo.

yo after you get your tt's get some dirt style records like super seal (beat you cupe!)
  22. oh sweet and i just got into kiss fm. starting mondays with a splash of disco sweeeeet. timeslot not the best would of loved to have that rocking while im eating brekky and having my coffee. guess ill just have to close my door at work and pretend im busy. oh yeah and thumbs up

yeah if you like frangelico and lime, try the frangelico, muddled lime and ginger beer (gots to be at least half frangelico) its tha shiznittle. hmmm frangelico and chocolate milk.... i think thatll be pretty good night cap. tapped my bottle last week so have to wait for restock but i might try it. another one my mate showed us (he worked bar for ages, as glassy and tender) which he called short black. frangelico, vodka and kahlua (i cant remember what levels but really do to taste i prefer maybe 20/40/40 because frangelico too sweet) all shaken to the shithouse in a shaker with ice cubes; then can have as a shooter (preferred), or served on some fresh ice (my preferred )
