  1. i know this keeps coming up here and its gonna have to be agree to disagree but i really disagree with this statement. back in the day all the boys would mark up their records with the bpms, and this would make it easier to pitch their records, i.e. take half the time then chucking a record on. are they cheating?? the bpm counter just reduced the time of sitting their with their records and stop watch. bpm analysers will never be perfect so you have to adjust by ear anyway. same with using cues. isnt using cue points or even the cue button on cdj's making life easier. so by your arguement that means all cdj users are a bunch of cheats. how easy is it to tap the cue button to beat, or not have to use doubles and just keep looping a section by repressing the cue button. what a bunch of cheats?? but of course their not. again back in the day we use to mark our records up with labels to drop the needle exactly where we wanted it to start just like a cue point, the cdj's just made it easier. i guess what im saying is at what point does making it easier make it cheating?
  2. two different things in my opinion yeah if promoters pushing for top 40 tracks and limiting a djs scope to weave their magic that blows on the other hand im loving my vocal house and its not all top 40. kingdom, remady, that older track by tomys crew. some good shit out there
  3. yo
  4. hey buck you can use this for vader. http://www.freshnessmag.com/2010/08/26/ ... plication/ as to live mixing from the mic. you can do that with serato because it has a sampler (i remember the demo from the serato site where the dj was scratching up the mc). traktor doesnt have a function but on djtt they showed how you could record the mic being routed into a traktor deck then load the recording and start scratching. cumbersome unless you had hot keys or midi control
  5. yeah good luck man and have fun with it.
  6. hey cupe the mix post thread says open 1 november, but first post here says Nov 1 (close date).
  7. no no no thats not right mate. look give me your mates number and ill sort him out (ill offer him $750 ) look at $700 as long as they operate properly i.e. cables all working, platter torque (start and stop) isnt so bad, that the pitch stays reasonably constant then its freaking awesome. in fact you prob owe him a case of brewskies too. not too mention at that price you could prob spend a couple hundred more for a service (okay i have no idea how much a service is...).
  8. damn this track is nice. might have to cop this on the weeked (so much for me not buying anything fir a while). ive been meaning to check the other if stuff. hey andrez what part of japan you in i spent some time in shinjuku and hung at shibuya. loved it and not to derail but i just realised that you can preview tracks on juno from yr iphone. because no flash cant see the waveform but if you click the headphones icon it will launch quicktime
  9. not me but other peeps if you really interested in selling. i think skank and crundyy are both looking.
  10. 650 each aint bad if they in good nick, come fully loaded & w/ dust cover. you know what year they were made (use serial number and check wiki).

    welcomes
  12. while it would be great experience, i cant dj (yet). i do a wicked running man. ha ha. i can do the straight up running man; the bobby brown; the side step running man; the side cross over running man; the kickforward kick back turn to the other side transition running man.... its only a four hour gig whch will include eating time so you only need 2 or 3! so ill sit this one out but buck i think its perfect for you. a lot of peeps turning 18 too so have a business card ready.
  13. oh forgot to say what they like. they are very good. again i dont really have anything to compare with but it definitely suits my needs. they seem sturdy enough (and weigh 20kgs each). the included cartridge is actually different than the what the box or listings state and are actually better. it came with stantons 680.V3 i find the pitch very smooth and very stable (i.e. you hear a lot about people having to keep tweaking the pitch as the speed starts to sway). found torque to be really good and songs get to full speed almost immediately.
  14. no they are different. i have only played with technics a few times at the record store (i cant remember what the rental equip we were using in the 80's), and that was early in the day when i first got my stantons. i am pretty sure they play the same but maybe someone with experience on both can give you better advice? wazza owns one of everything. but i can only go by the specs, the difference are: * 1200's have the click at zero pitch (which some people hate) * stantons have a wider pitch range (i.e. technics are +/- 8% only). but admittedly you start to pitch over this and you start to mess with the song. however i do occassionally use it to pitch down a wonky electro/ house song which has no vocals to link together two booty tech/ miami bass tracks. * stantons have the pitch control button (i.e. keep constant pitch of the song even when you have pitch up or down), but i have never used it. in fact i think you can only use it with line out but i use phono out * stantons have 3 speeds (33,45,& something else). as use time codes ive never used * stantons come fully loaded as opposed to technics you need to buy your cartridge * technics come with dust cover * stantons have more torque (i.e. the strength of the platter to go from zero to full speed) but considering everyone uses technics i dont think its a major issue * stantons have adjustable start and stop strengths for the platter * technics apparentally last forever if taken care of. you see heaps of 10 year old machines on ebay.
  15. yeah but if you already using a dvs its easier to have it all digitally. i mean the advantage of the dvs was i already have thousands of cd's, it would not be possible for me to replace all of that with vinyl becuase of cash limitations or even just finding some of the cd's i have. its not like record stores are on every corner, and its not like all the labels are pressing plates. personally i think its a great move by thud rumble. when you have all the greats already moving to a dvs system. you watch craze or klever or a-trak, they all scratching up super seal sounds thru their dvs, so theyve proabbly already done what i did which was record the super seal into a WAV file. that or got hook ups from qbert, but either way they all digital oh, and cupe what is a not-real turntable?
  16. oh what $5 a side! but $12 for a battle record is still cheap
  17. holy crap how did this bypass the radar. qbert has fully embraced the digital world and all the dirt style battle records are available for download. and even better its like $5US so $6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! awesome for all the serato or tsp users. but even for the cdj scratchers you can burn to cd. http://www.thudrumble.com/shop/downloads.html havent read the t&c's yet if its only available in the us i am going to cry
  18. no worries all part of the friendly service here. when you say hook you up, as in links to sites? or hook you up w/ turnies. okay you can have my stantons for $1000 each ha ha what does yer mate have? yeah not necessarily recommending the stantons, but just saying if you cant afford new technics or cant find good second hand ones then yes go the stantons (or the american audio ones which are essentially the same machine). and even more so wait till sale day, or try to negotiate if you buying shyte loads but i have never had any luck with that at the dj stores unless they price matching. in case you were wanting links stanton st-150's or str8-150's (the straight arm is the preferred for scratchers but you see lots of pros not using it so not essential). http://www.stantondj.com/v2/prod_st150.asp http://www.stantondj.com/v2/prod_str8150.asp stanton SA3 mixer. very basic 2 channel mixer with no effects which you will probably want to upgrade one day. but just for straight out scratching, or hip hop/ rnb mixing its plenty enuff. http://www.stantondj.com/v2/prod_sa3.asp and as for the digital vinyl system (DVS) which will allow you to play and control mp3's using vinyl you can got serato or traktor scratch pro. this you dont necessarily need to start up. especially if beginning with scratching (as above just get 2 dirt style records see below), but eventually when you want to start playing more music, by having a DVS you can take advantage of whatever mp3 or CD collection you already have. but as i mentioned the jury is out as to which one is better. from what ive read (as i have never used serato) is the traktor sound card is better quality and its time code is more accurate; but the serato interface is more simpler and makes more sense, plus is heaps more stable. but yeah the pro's use both so if you can try to have a smash at both (though 5 mins in a shop probably wont do it justice). for serato in your budget prob the SL1 http://serato.com/scratchlive/rane-sl1 and TSP http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... ratch-pro/ as to where to buy depends on where ya at but everywhere has dj warehouse store dj lights sounds that you can google! oh almost forgot dirt style records. okay here is the full list from qberts website, but you can get at record store, red eye, and the dj shops above. however i did once calculate that if you buying heaps its cheaper to get off qberts thud rumble shop. http://www.thudrumble.com/shop/vinyl.html oh man i just realised you can get these digitally. gonna start another post.....
  19. yeah got both tonight. been killing our real tonight while browsing the nets. freakng party music man. get on it peoples!!!
  20. hey man. not much more to add then what jonnyb said. yeah 2nd synth way too loud and drowns your drum beats and bass synth. but the melody you got going with the 2nd synth is quite good, like count dracula or something. the keys are a nice addition/ mixup to the track. ha ha nice vocal drop. a bit monotonous. i know you drop the beats in the middlebut maybe also lose the 2nd synth somewhere in the track. not particularly my sound but yeah i think youve done well.
  21. okay dubstep not really my sound but will try to comment. i mean i did like dnb (particularly roni size) as well as always loving the dub sound. anywho intro vocal very haunting. loving the samples you using for the melody i.e the video game sample, the voice like ahyayayaya. and the change up after the pause is freaking on point. cant say i really liked the bit between 2.20 and 3.00. i know it was meant to be like a breakdown and more quiet part of the song, but felt a bit like it didnt quite fit. sorry cant really come up with what you could do thats better...maybe go straight into the part at 2.30. other then that yeah quite liked it.
  22. oh yeah dl man
  23. hey man darling link not working above, but this isnt working is working (...). anywho checked at soundcloud, comments: darling - found intro bit long, or just wanted something to happen already but once it did it was awesome. that first phrase is very upbeat and funky. excellent use of vocals, and then when it breaks into the bigger drum part at 1.50 just kills. and ive said it a million times you got beats. actually gets danceable here, definitely head bopping and not just up and down! and then the track gets even bigger at 3.40 without getting messy. another nice one. this isnt working - chilled track, like some of your old tracks i see this as a sunset chilling with a beverage tunes. nice beats as always, and love the scream. not necessarily my sound, but something i could relax too.
  24. what are you talking about this is the silent disco thread right i just saw the vid of peoples getting their headphones for the silent disco. hmmm yeah i dont know if id be down for that. i was more thinking of going off at public places with your own tunes..
