so in answer to your OP question depends on what you are trying to achieve will determine whats best. do you still want to predominantly dj then maybe do live blends and remixes? or is your intention to do performances instead where you might do live (using ableton) songs/ remixes you may have produced and/ or even just start creating them on the spot.
-
hmmm sounds like the mixmeister program. or maybe he was doing what grrl talk does when he performs, dont know what he uses. so not really djing though (and i dont mean because he is using a software, more so he's purpose wasnt to string several songs together)
-
there are two different things here though. was the dude djing i.e. going from song to song using premade music or remixing and/or performing on the spot? if the latter ableton live is your best bet, which allows you to set off music tracks on the go and do shit to it like loops or effects. if the former then a multitude of software vdj or traktor pro are probably most used. though if you got cdj's not sure why you would want to go down this route?? unless maybe you were going to get a dedicated controller. and just to grey it people also remix on the fly using vinyl and cd's, now thats the sheeeet

personally ive been rethinking the grafitti thing. i mean i loves the header but in reality the elements of hip hop are hardly a topic here. in fact some people even hate on it so just saying. maybe its time for something new. and yeah im picturing some logo on front and website either across shoulder blades or in lower back. if hoodie then adjf in bubble letters on one side of hoodie then everything else the same
-
hey man welcome this is more an intro maybe post up your question in the venue section. one suggestiin ive always seen though if yer worried is hire a set. dj warehouse does good mid week deals but they not in adelaide. do you have an equivalent place maybe
-
yeah i asked him before about doing tge banner for the page but because of a move down to melbourne and stuff he got too busy. ill ask if he can knock something up for free
-
ummm his he's not new (4 posts) his just scoping for people to have a smash with. well thats what i think but im not sure if yer being sarcastic because isnt the upside down question mark the universal print character for sarcasm

hey cupes. theres a few tshirt places (found one that does custom hoodies, custom aprons, custom panties) and they do shirts for about $30, and zippered hoodies from $70. if you buy 3-9 theres 10% discount, then above 10 about 15%. if we pay the full price you can keep the discount. so sell 10 tees and you'll make $45. ill check with my lil bro if he knows of any better places (he works in design and has considered the tshirt biz).
-
neither the shirts or the event would particularly be profitable rather to get adjf public. in regards to shirts, if someone can come up with a concept, a design and a manufacturer in order to get a quote. im sure the willing people would pay up front before we get it done. i.e. no need for any cash up front. in regards to events, as i said good idea if you can get people with time to dedicate!! and thats the catch, most of us working as it is, and some of y'all also have gigging so while a good idea not entirely feasible. but yeah a lot of places will allow for free use of venue, then its just a matter of dedicating time and booking djs. and while a lot of people here will be dying to get a gig on, i think to garner people to come it will need known djs. so tomy up in qld, chris down in melb, mitchnmatch, jonny and skank here in syd. and as the point is to advertise adjf to DJ's not clubbers it will need some sort of pull like a comp or open decks. of course unlike the shirts, organising or even at the least sponsoring the event will cost money.
-
great idea but seeing as there are 10 regular posters, about 5 reasonably regular, and about 5 who hang around every once and a while then there probably isn't a massive market for ADJF labeled merch! there'd be like one big splurge by everyone and then thats it. unless you mean start selling DJ related things and hence get the links back to the site. problem with that is buying enuff in bulk to get the wholesale discounts to make any margin. i rection adjf sponsored/ organised events could be a good way to spread the word. i guess its just a matter of getting the bodies and time to organise. things like maybe open deck nights etc. that interview thing is pretty good, get a few more of them out so that fans googling that dj may come across us (though fans may not always be djs)

ignore the counters man they are nothing more than an estimate. be it in traktor or on the cdj's!
-
ive found my headphones so it looks like a sword going thru your head!! or what about these other wacky ones
-
i dont think its all that bad to get chinese made stuff, its just bad to get bad mass produced chinese stuff. just think if say those headphones were made in australia, where we have high rent, higher minimum wage, higher on-costs, 37 different insurances.... then all our posts would be about why do shitty head phones cost like $400 and higher end headphones cost over $1000. cuz thats the only way manufacturers could cover costs

+1 to chevs comment. most definitely vinyl should be stored upright. never heard of the dust thing but more so lying them flat is more likely to warp your records
-
sorted then adjf reprazent! hey cupe you get that banner printed so they can use it as a booth curtain
-
nice. thats the only downsyde of traktor lack of novel control vinyl. you should of got the donut ones i think by stone throw
-
well it seems to have first been created for peeps who were ripping their vinyl or cds to match up the album with Discogs, then it would fill in all the tags. as ive already got most of this sorted for my digital files im not too fussed about that function. i was more interested in the smart playlists function and the additional tagging. where it allows you to create your own tags like mood; energy; flow etc. which would then be used in traktor. so for example i could create my own energy codes of starters; builders; bangers; coolers. then have a smart playlist that looks for starters or bangers and have that as a crate in traktor. so going forward if i mark anything in trainspotter as starter it will automatically get added to that crate.
-
hi so i gots the iphone last month and was trying to move my songs onto there and noticed 2 of my beatport tracks wont go into itunes. tried stripping all tags as suggested around the webs, but still no avail. doesnt make sense as i have them on my ipod which means at some point it must of worked?? i converted the track from mp3 to mp3 using VLC and then it works. not sure if anything gets lost though it lost like 100KB on its size?? anyone else ever have this.
-
anyone use trainspotter for their traktor playlists? http://www.tspotter.net/ everyone raves about it and ive considered getting it to help crate my thousands of tunes, but then can never be assed. now i feel assed but curious to see if people use/ have used it.

hey anyone ever try these? they look just like the American Audio CDI 300s, anyone know if they a rebadge/ OEM. If so CBG I know you have the CDI 300s, they go okay? its my nephews bday coming up, and i know the last time he was over he was loving the decks and was wanting to get into it. and i came across second hand 2 of these citronics, a mixer and road case for $400-500. which is a bit much, but if i get his old man (my bro), my parents, my other brother and sister, and maybe an autine or three to all chuck in we may be able to gather enuff to get em (advantage of bigg filo fams). anywho any info or advice would be much appreciated. searched here and google. a matty who posted 3 posts had the higher models but didnt say much else. and google only really coming up with people who sell them. they go for $750 with mixer at dj city (dont kow what mixer)

TOMY's Monthly Top Tracks in no particular order
eggssell replied to Tomy's topic in DJ Headquarters
dont worry skank. just wait till about december when the commercial radio stations finally get it, then we will have to endure it for another 6-12 months in every shopping mall and most likely as a channel 9 or optus ad. (for the record i think the track rocks no matter what chev says ha ha). thanks for the playlist to tomy.
