but with a company, they could say hey one of the bigg four accounting firms wants you to do a gig in star city, they paying $1K you can have $500? cuz trust the big four, or the banks will not book a small independent. even the small companies ive worked for would only go with some of the overpriced major names for functions. on the other hand, only because i am dying to make a living off my own company, i think that is a nice way to go. so if you can build your own thang to get bigg enuff then do that. i find it hard to believe you could do both in the mobile scene anywho. if you do club gigs under your own co. then private functions for the mobile company fair enuff, but if you get a call how do you say the call is for the company or for yourself. surely the comapny wouldnt allow?? of course im neither so just my thoughts

back in the day when we use to rent equip for our house parties. we'd get two stand up trafiic light thangs, a strobe, a uv and a smokey. uv lights rock man! ha ha. we'd all go down to disco city on pitt street (long dead now) and you could get these neon strings which we would tie around our arms, shoes or have hanging from our mouth (okay i dont know what that was about); so use to be awesome seeing the folks on the dance floor all lit up. i dont particularly remember the uv doing anything to the smokey. admittedly we only got the smoker for about 2 of the parties which were all in double garages, because it would just smoke ppl out ha ha.

thats not really much of a comparison as the beats will end up being about 4 times more, and i think are in a different range. buck, the beats pro are the ones meant to be targeted at DJ's and Producers at the same vein. in particular for DJ's they are light yet use aluminium for strength. yo, those seinheisser ones arent DJ ones so i guess it depends on what you are looking to use it for. they have plenty of other ones that would be more suited (of course the HD 25's). as for Beats, as ive said before in the end they are just Monster headphones who are not necessarily the best in the game. and yes everyone says Dre has really pushed up their game but it comes at a price. i would hazard to say they probably will be good headphones just not value for money.

im sure the taxes add a fair bit too it. but as i said you also have to add the salaries. i am pretty sure our wharfies get paid more than probably anywhere in the world except maybe some of those rich scandanavian countries. same with our couriers. i had friends in the US working for fast food joints and they were shocked at the difference between our minimum wage and the buckleys they were getting paid. and thats just salaries, add kick backs to unions, insurance, local govt licenses etc. etc. which is why local staff rates, or local cost prices for a retail store is still more than what you get overseas.

and one thing ive found is the not the cheapest but not the quality headphones always have really good low end but usually to seem louder then they are and it masks the lack of clarity. my skullcandys are really bassy as but ill take the xd 53s any day of the week

hmmm i think ppl have to get over the made in china thang. everything is made in china, korea, thailand and on a smaller basis singapore. i can guarantee you your pioneers are not made in europe djaz. its just a matter of whether they are mass manufactured in a non controlled factory. or mass manufactured by factory sanctioned by a bigger multinational who enforce some quality. also unfortunately the norm is the manufacturer wont deal direct as it is too much admin. ive looked into importing heaps of shyte for retail. and its either some wont deal with those that dont have a physical shop (ie eretailer only) or they charge you rrp unless you order a sizeable amount. and rrp is usually more than what youll pay in the store

bit of both man. and its the same for everything. you have to remember aussies are some of the highest paid people in the world and we have some of the highest insurance in the world. so a simple thing like shipping, storage and distribution costs heaps!! then you need to add the retailers costs and profit margin. the only way aussie companies can sell for "cheap" (which equals equivalent to overseas) is to negotiate good wholesale deals with exporters overseas and buy very large bulk amounts OR negotiate good wholesale deals with importers here who have bought bulk from overseas.
