  1. here is the kentaro thing. well this is what is palying behind him on the screen. but im sure there is a video where you can see him playing on the two cd players (ill keep looking). mixing starts at 0.50
  2. ha ha. as i said its only coinky dink that tomy would ask, as i was already looking at MPC's and stuff when looking for what i can do with my MPD (which if anyone is wondering i will likely go MPD and Fruity Loops, but thats months away!!). anywho.i loaded the wrong clip. i loaded the one with someone playing live. anywho OP edited
  3. hey tomy. ive always assumed maschine was for producing. shyte loads of hip hop producers have moved from their Akai MPC's to Maschine. The MPC is probably what you are thinking of having the samples saved on board. this is where the samples are saved on a memory card (or very small on board). this is what a lot of producers used in the past by recording a song, then cutting it up into the pads, and then creating the hip hop beat. and you could play a bar and set loop so that you could play the kicks and snare, then add the melody etc. this is what kanye is doing on that mtv performance. dr dre is also known to use MPC's. but rather than sample records he gets session musicians o play and he would put all the sounds into his MPC's (or multiple MPC's) and create the tunes. couldnt find one with dre but here kanye from 2004 creating a track. you can see he starts from a track which he samples. then uses a synth/ keyboard to tweak samples and recording it into his MPC. which he will then use to build the track by banging out, looping and sequencing. MPC is at about 2.00 but interesting to see how hip hop and RnB tracks are made. Kanye West makin' an ill track Uploaded by SaleSud. - Watch more music videos, in HD! now the maschine pretty much does the exact same thang but with a computer. now i know all the haters oh here we go again with computers taking over. but sorry to burst your bubble but the MPC was nothing but a computer with a dedicated purpose. it had a processor, it has memory etc. nothing analogue about it. the advantage of maschine. you have access to heaps more samples as opposed to the MPC you had to save it on card. also i am assuming it can also have more layers and more sequences as your memory is only withheld by your computer and hard drives. also i think (not 100% there are more effects on maschine). now you and your mate prob already seen these vids on the NI website, but i came across them when i was looking at getting software for my Akai MPD24 (which is nothing but a Midi controller to look like the MPC). but here is No ID using Maschine to mke that Jay Z song Death to Autotune. here is another vid, which i had no idea maschine could do which i think is a massive advantage over my Akai MPD24, is that the head up dispaly can show everything you need. hence other than looking at the computer to load your samples into the banks. you can then use just the maschine just like an MPC and not need to look at or touch the computer and here is someone playing live with maschine which i assume has all the samples loaded to the banks (but yes it still needs a computer)
  4. hey am i right in that thee is a dj yodafrog (of qberts clique) and some other dude named dj yoda? this use to trip me up everytime i heard of yoda i imagined yodafrog. kentaro does a goo vdj thang too. he looks like he is using cd players of some sort. ill see if its youtubed, i have his Enter tour. amazing visuals.
  5. post the ebay link
  6. ha ha, cool. yeah i keep up with yer top 10 list. was just seeing if you rated anything else on VP. i gots plenty in my crate as it is now anywho, so will have to wait till the next batch.
  7. damn looks like the markets will close with AUD at about USD 98 cents. might be a good time to clear your beatport/ juno crates (maybe buy the slop rock single and support tomy's crew! or Andrez IF? records stuff). i just ordered some shyte from amazon too
  8. not processing power. now i might be wrong havent looked into bootcamp since the days apple first went intel, but i thought at startup you choose which OS to boot windows or OSX. hence only one is running at anyone time. what you need to split is your hard disk, i think you have to partition it. now i am pretty sure you could maybe run virtual windows OS? im not too clued up on it but i keep hearing about this vmware thang, where people can have windows and linux running on the same machine at the same time. so maybe theres something like that for apple? note with bootcamp you still need a copy of windows.
  9. gandy i think what they are saying is we have reviewed each one telling you what each one has to offer. its then a matter for each individual to sort their priorities and decide which one is best. i mean for some its bass; for some its clarity; for some its bling; for some its brand; so its a reasonable fair review (in fact looks very familiar..... hmmm). hence there close line: as for no xd-53's yeah that is unfortunate but guess they have more stock of the XD-40 he he
  10. hey skank. yeah my mates gone awol a bit havent heard from him. but yeah i think his friday night job prob prevented him from joining. good luck w it all
  11. hey skank im pretty sure a law was passed in australia where they can now check yer ipods and hard drives. not sure if its being exercised yet
  12. good on ya mate. so what about these recommendations huh
  13. tomy depends on what nights you want to play. like buck said before where his bro works no cdj. same w a few places in syd that cater for rnb and hip hop heads. no cdjs out on those nights.
  14. i know everyone hating on kanye but for those that dont mind him and have been keeping up w/ his free GOOD Fridays tracks, this weeks one is a killer! if these are the rejects from his album done in the hawaii getaway i cant wait to hear the album. anywho posting here cuz we were talking about ryan leslie who shows up on the track for a rap and wouldnt be surprised if he was involved in production or at least keys/ synths. also has cudi & pusha to boot. anywho check the kanye blog for this and all the other free tracks
  15. hey man welcomes what genres ya into yeah post in beginners (or search and post in existing threads) if ya got specific questions. anywho enjoy the forum
  16. and the internets isnt one of em
  17. its all good armed no one thinks your having a digg, its just all convo right. when you say "original" way to dj isnt that turntables? pre serato and pre traktor scratch i would of said tt's would die. but seeing as shyte loads of pros have gone dvs, and that cd's are still not accepted in certain club scenes they wont be dying anytime soon. yeah fer sure one day turntables will be dead but i reckon for at least the next 10 yrs they gonna be around.
  18. lol. well played
  19. damn telegram. hella kit. can i just confrim your address...
  20. woo werent you one of the strongest components against controllerism? but now your championing looking forward not backwards? to the OP, yes genre may matter. and its not necessarily just for scratching, but at a lot of RnB nights at clubs there are no cdj's. i am assuming a lot of the more popular venues like say tank, they just pack them away but mos def when the RnB promoters come in they dont have them out. i think with the mass growth of dvs, turntables will not die anytime soon.
  21. oh ryan leslie. look him up he has some funky tracks. im pretty sure he produced and wrote some of kanyes stuff
  22. the one with the talk box tube to his mouth? if so thats pthugg from chromeo
  23. not at home but its not on juno?
  24. isnt that just the orig
