  1. hey anyone know what controller he is using w/ serato? zoom it in. is that a Kontrol X1?
  2. check a-traks awesome laptop stand at his german gig
  3. hey man welcome hope you find the info you need and stick around while you learn.
  4. hey man nice little mix. i think the transition into barbara streisand seemed a little too abrupt, like a massive change, maybe mix further into streisand rather thanthe intro, or something. other then that pretty good transitions. praise you sounded a little digitised? is that the mix or pitching down, though you wouldnt expect 2-3 to be that much on a song that has to be no more than 128BPM prob even slower.
  5. cool then give us a DL after
  6. okay i cant see that you posted Parallel Signals anywhere, now this i am feeling. that drumming from 0.30 is freaking awesome. in fact the snares you got right thru kill. another one of yer songs that gets quite danceable. and that real soft sample/ sound you bring in at 1.30 just adds to the atmosphere of the track. and the final phrase just tops it off. pm me a dl man!!
  7. damn man that intro is all eerie, felt a bit creeped out kept looking around the room. ha ha i like it from 4.37 onwards. before that not really my sound. i mean some nice key melody but just not vibing with it. i could imagine it in a foreign film where someone is drowning, or maybe just staring at you. you know those silent black and white foreign films. but percussions, structure and overall sound very pro.
  8. cant find you linking it up here, but also loving your riva starr bootleg. i love riva starr which ive expressed before, but i dont really digg the orig song. but im really liking your bootleg. im loving your sample based sound. i guess its jacking right? sounds like a few nintendo samples in here too, im sure i can hear zelda. your samples of the track seem very clean too. what are you using if you dont mind me asking, in terms of software and hardware (synths, pads, samplers etc.) if you dont mind me asking
  9. damn! another banger. really loving yer shyte man, can almost be a slop rock groupie. that horn is a killer. i just danced around my house and that drrty low bass sound (dont know the technical term for it) is really good too. im sure youll let us know when its available.
  10. oh man yeah definitely finish it. as always, loving the knocked up noise sound. is chev was talking nintendo with snes, cuz intro reminds me of super mario. man a right club banger. nice and drrty from 0.16. and nice change up as always at 1.00. awesome use of the yeah sample. cant wait for this one.
  11. damn man very pro. +rep. that whole build feel of the song (which i am starting to know is how prog house is) really keeps you into the track. love that drrty sounding roll at 2.30. the melody/keys are really catchy. when it gets too the real disco-y vibe between 3.00 and 5.00 is my fave bit. head bopping for sure. freaking long track? but guess you have the nice breather in the middle. prob my fave track of yours, gets a little bit funky.
  12. My own review. 1st transition, I liked because I leave it going for a whole one minute. faded out too abruptly and some vocal crashing 2nd transition, don’t even want to talk about it. Seriously skip it. 3rd, average. Not perfect but aiight 4th, starts offbeat at first but I think I recover quickly then I like it because the two tracks fit hand in hand and I play it out for while 5th, this one is okay too. Incoming track bit loud. Really need to learn to adjust gains. Also starts to go off beat as I fade out. Overall I am very happy. This is first mix ive recorded since may, and the first mix ive done since moving my speakers to right in front of me. I rection that’s helped my beatmatching heaps. Cuz maybe only 2 of the tracks are the same speed, the rest I had to pitch manually.
  13. Hey all I know ive been a total slacker in my reviews and I promise to fix it up over this weekend. But ive just recorded a mix that I think is okay. Theres one absolute train wreck which sounds so badd and it goes for a whole 30 seconds!!! and to make it worse I could hear it wrecking and thought ill put an echo on and stop the outgoing track, but accidentally setoff a high filter instead so it starts to sound like snares smashing (I recommend you skip the whole 30 seconds from 5.06 onwards!!) Anywho unlike my first mix which was 5 train wrecks and one good mix, I think this is about 5 okay ones and one total F up. Anywho done with vinyl timecode in absolute mode, using external mixer, and the one crappy effect done from the mixer. Kind of done on the fly. Well I basically hopped on the decks tonight and mixed about 8 tracks on the fly. Then I went to my history tab, and played all the songs in the same order again (but I only played first 6), this is what I recorded. Not really club/ dance floor tracks, so made more for chilling or maybe cruising. Ive put the tracklist and timings below, so if you too busy to do whole 20 mins just go to maybe 5 seconds before the transition. 0.00 Burns, Bobby/ Afrojack – Ghetto Blaster 2.15 Dario Nunez - Do You Remember - Original Mix 5.06 Party Dark - Is That You? - DJ Naughty's UK Funky mix 9.30 Drop the Lime - Set Me Free - Zombie Disco Squad remix 13.00 Hystereo – Hysterica 16.10 Ocelot - Beating Hearts - Louis La Roche Remix cheers very much in advance for your critique and advice. mixed eggs 08/10/10 by eggssell
  14. im assuming laptop and sound is not needed in your budget (cuz getting the control you will already need both anywho). in the end its what you want to do and what you want to use it for. a controller like that can get you started mixing and will do you well if say you want to go mobile since its a singular device (plus laptop of course). on the other hand if you want to mess about learning to mix the old fashioned way then you could go vinyl, mixer and dvs BUT that could be out of yer budget unless you happen across a good deal. i pretty much got what you mentioned and it set me back closer to $2G and that was all items on pretty good sale. so if you can get 2 TT's at about $800 then you stand a chance. on the other hand the cheapest option would be cdj and mixer. you can usually find a good deal for second hand cdj 200's or cdj 400's and then even get a new mixer. no laptop needed because seriously if you have the cdj's you can burn all your music to disc, hence no need for a dvs (of course if you get more funds then go for it). post an intro and let us know what genres you into, where ya from, how you found the site, whether you like cookies. then browse the beginners section because weve had a lot of new people join also in the same boat (especially the cdj boat if ya going that way).
  15. the headshell is that thing you can twist. heres a cartridge with stylus which screws onto the headshell technics did make belt drive machines. you may have got one of those. does it say technics anywhere else?? but when you say you can lift the platter off, is the platter spinning via a magnet, are you sure yours is a belt drive. my old man had a belt drive marantz (which we use to scratch on when he wasnt around ha ha), and the platter never came off
  16. its now cheaper to buy from Juno in USD (normally going GBP was the cheaper option).
  17. cool ill check feng shui and cco. i bought "our real" a bit back. playing now actually he he (which reminded me i was gonna post this reply)
  18. 98 cents is the forex market rate so unless you trading thousands of dollars you wont get that rate. effective rate on yer c/c will be prob 96 cents. so just depends on how much shipping is as to whether it works cheaper. cant record your set w/ duo because audi 4 only has outs. here is comparison chart http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/ ... /?page=588
  19. oh i also wanted to add it may also depend on who you speak to at the retail stores and what they prefer (or the cynical view what they are trying to sell...). when i bought mine at dj warehouse about 10 or 11 months ago the dude also spent a good time lecturing me, saying serato was a dinosaur that didnt change dramatically from sl1 to sl3, just a few new features, and how the only reason serato sells is because people who started with it have grown comforatble with it yadda yadda. i.e. convincing me that i had nothing to lose by going TSP. and surprise surprise the reason why they had a very good price ($690 i think i got it for) was because they had shyte loads of TSP in stock!!!
  20. i aint a serato owner but i did research both extensively and only went traktor scratch because it was cheaper at the time. and when comparing the two it needs to be tsp vs serato. anywho from my research the audio 8 is a better quality sound card in terms of its output and input. there may be more returns but for the non faulty ones it is better. of course doesnt mean jack if your stereo/pa not all that. and thats against both sl1 & sl3. if you are using for nothing more than being a vehicle to carry your crate then to me there is no difference. thats all i needed (ie i never have learnt to use traktor for anything else other than load track) so for me that didnt matter so price was the only differential. in regards to stability. serato is very stable because they dont chqnge or upgrade it very often. i can confirm traktor upgrades usually come with a lot of bugs that then get fixed in the next version. when you find a good version stick w it for a while. oh and even worse for mac users. NI dont really seem to see them as any priority
  21. damn dude that is pretty organised. maybe not until we were 18 did we ever get that organised. that was where we use to book houses in the blue mountains, move all the furniture to the backyard or garage and then turn the entire house into several different dance areas. before that it was just rental equip in garages playing 12 inches and gettin on the mic and saying "waddup party people who wants to hear that two live crew track again" then play we want some pu**y for the fifth time in a row.
  22. wow, how things can change in just a few years.... one of the best songs ever, and i mean ever. /derail
  23. i couldnt find much of dr dre in the studio actually making beats. i guess he is quite secretive. so instead check out something relevant to a dj forum, dr dre back in the day behind the wheels of steel. and he even busts lyrical at 3.10
  24. oh its called a dvj. cant find the kenaro one. but here is some other japanese dj's hifana using it. you can see the screen in the background. which is being controlled by the guy on the left. guy on the right is banging out on an mpc. better seen on 2nd vid. EDIT: ha ha and if i'd watched pulse beats clip of dj yoda (who is definitely not dj yodafrog) i would have already seen its a pioneer dvj.
  25. oh yeah not that this is any help to your question skank oops. i guess i was just saying i think you can do it with two dvd players and a mixer.
