  4. been a minit from the kanye and jay z collabo, some production from pete rock. http://en.musicplayon.com/Kanye-West-The-Joy-feat-Pete-Rock-Jay-Z-Charlie-Wilson-Curtis-Mayfield-Kid-Cudi-467011.html
  5. oh yeh four
  6. i just watched ep 5. yeah kind of ended abruptly. they were meant to bridge kool herc to when hip hop started becoming mainstream and filling stadiums. now i get NWA into Chronic got it into the mainstream charts and into suburbia. it still wasnt as everywhere as say 2000. so i think they needed to show post death row and bad boy, into roc-a-fella, no limit, cash money. where rap artists really became mainstream idols. i guess it wasnt meant to be hip hop history, but more just showing its evolution and change. i mean they didnt even touch the entire golden age, no native tongues!
  7. ive used an akai mpd (midi controller) and an mpc (sampler/ sequencer) for pad based equipment, akai is top notch. i guess the only thing is mpc's can be expensive. but if you are not using for production you could go for the baby mpc 500.
  8. pretty good read. having been to many basketball games (mainly sydney kings and sydney flames) the music can really add enjoyment. the hey days of having a band and rodney O was probably the best. though when i was in syd during november, my younger brother and i took his daughter to a kings game. she had soo much fun, singing to every chant and dancing to the music.
  9. @wazza you bought? looks mint

  17. its okay if you are a professional event MC and a DJ. the really good ones have particular skills, keeping momentum, not putting people to sleep, able to think quickly, very charismatic and engaging, etc. like really think of the times you have left a wedding (or event) and remember the MC, its only when they were good. on the other hand if you dont actually have MC skills leave it to just the occasional announcement like everyone sit down, or its time for this and its time for that, and the yellow beetle has left their lights on, we have a lost four year old looking for their mum.

  20. yeh i randomly stumbled across it too. got one episode to go. only cause watched the others all in a row and needed to sleep. some of it is the same same as any of the many hip hop history films but still interesting to watch. but there was also some new shit in there.
  21. not sure what northside is like for funk, what i remember is their awesome selection of jamaican 45s. and it was cheap as too. spent a few hours there and walked out with a good haul. the other one down the road i liked was the searchers (i think thats what its called). scored a lot of 80's hip hop. wouldnt know their funk section. most of my good shit though is in record fairs. not from the stores, but people selling off collections. and then japan and chicago.
