i like long mixes cuz for me you pop a mix on then do whatever you doing and enjoybthe journey the dj is taking you on. used to love the fabric live mixes i think it depends on purpose. you juat want to give people something to listen to. or you pimping you wares making. yeh its a bitch on a longun to fark up at like 20 odd minutes. but yeh i never really spend too much planning mixes. so yeah usually i start with about 15-20 tracks. keep mixing in various orders and some songs get dropped cuz they dont fit. then i just go fuck it hit record and see what happens

ive received tracks through PMing on Soundcloud either cuz i say nice track can i get a DL. or if it says get on FB i tell them i dont have and they send me links.

i dont have fecesbook. and anyone that has like for DL, i just move onto the next track. im sure i might be missing on some good tracks, but meh, plenty of other ways to find good music

keep in mind that not all bitrates are the same and comparable. i cant remember off the top of my head but just google it. what itunes sells seems lower because of the number but it is compressed differently so sounds better than ripping a cd at that same rate. if buying from beatport and juno i just buy mp3s i remember being told before even when playing in the club a lot of PA systems are made for loudness so as long as you arent playing some badly converted 128 mps ripped using 1990s tech, then anything better than that sounds just fine. but on the other hand i assume for perso listening you are not using crappy apple headphones, or even for your car, then it is nice to have higher quality music

and while we are meant to keep this an intro fred... in regards to hi fi. unless you going out to play for the masses the hi fi is fine to fine tune your technique. i used a technics hifi for many years, and only bought powered PAs because i had a couple family dos to do. then when i moved to singapore i only brought the hi-fi with me. granted this hifi was one of the last japan made models and kills it, just saying for mixing at home i think its more than adequate. i have yet to turn it up past 30% with the mixer at below redline
