Yay I'm referenced. In my experience the best and pretty much only way to get gigs is word of mouth. Sure you can try gumtree adds and such but I've never witnessed them do that much. Having a Facebook page is also nice, and looks good when people try to search you. However I would only use it for peoples reference when they do search you, as Facebook's default reach is pathetic. Unless 3 people like each post next to no one will actually see it in their feeds. But again, WORD OF MOUTH really is the biggest key. Absolutely the biggest key. Do well at a gig, give out business cards to people who approach you or request stuff, or even come to say thanks after a gig. Also make sure to have them in easy access during the night also (for people who approach). 100% of my gigs these days are from chaining gigs. If I do well at a gig il give out about 10 business cards around the end + whatever is taken during the night. From that I usually receive 5 call backs or enquiries (FB adds etc also), and from that I usually receive 1-2 bookings. Just keep that word of mouth going and give every gig your all, show that you put the effort in and watch it grow solid advice nice one sol

while understanding kodiaks and sols sentiment, they probably were a bit harsh in their response. however db not sure if you actually had a look around on the site, but some of these djs around here are not bedroom and far from wanabees. sol and lab play around the scene, in fact lab is beatport certified it is because of this they have this reaction. they make a living off this! EIDT: well maybe not make a living but you get what i mean. they make monies off this life anyways turn the flames down a little bit including the existing members and just discuss, and not make assumptions about what db is trying to do. for me i like the ideas of open decks for beginners wanting a next step up, and would never expect to get paid. the payment to dj's is a business transaction. promoter is making money off guests, which requires venue and djs. hence dj should get some of that money. beginner djs who just want the experience are not likely to bring in guests HENCE not contribute to the making of money. on the other hand, using inexperienced dj's to make a larger margin by using cheaper options (beginners) i do not agree with.

There's just some records out there though that you're not gonna get on the cheap though. Most I've paid for a record was around the £50 mark. And looking at my collection stats (I only have fraction of my collection listed on discogs) the most valuable record I have is Kalisha - 'Don't Need A Lover' which has a max price of £53.28. yeah im sure there are but for what i look for i wouldnt pay much guess its like shoes. some wouldnt pay more than a hunge, but if i like a shoe id pay $2-300 (retail, i dont pay reseller prices for shoes)
-
i dont really like spending more than $10 on a record unless its an album then i may go to $15. and tbh even $10 for a 12" single i'm not a fan of i had a quick browse yest. i like looking for the ones where its the same shipping cost for 2-3, as i think shipping 3 at a flat rate is where it evens out. i found from europe a few that ranges from $14 -$18 for 3. the only problem is, i could never find 3 i like from one seller! so i was'nt going to pay $14-$18 for 1.

cool cheers and yeh looks like a no go. hmmm didnt really want to put in two hunge for it. 100 or less and it wouldve been a maybe. oh well

i need to use one single program that doesnt work on a mac. what is a reliable yet cheap yet legal way of doing this. i know vituralisation or boot camp are the main options. but suggestions and thoughts (and prices!) would be appreciated.
-
oxy (or others that have shipped to aus) is it good value? or is it moreso for stuff you cant get elsewhere? im thinking i have to start using it more given that lack of options here. but im a meiser buyer and like to buy on the cheap.

okay as below is one option that uses 1 female to 2 male RCA's (http://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-splitt ... =srtghl-20) the ends with nibs (or little dickies) are Male, and then the two without are female. obviosuly like beatless said it can be done with adapters or cables but essentially that is wiring you need. how many males or females involved is up to you (different strokes for different folks)
-
oh you mean with a splitter then yeah. i was thinking how could you get it to work with just the four cables from the box
-
still available http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... ing-cable/ but you could probably pick one up somewhere seeing as most cd player users wont need them
-
what the multi core allowed was that it would send from sound card to line in the mixer OR by pass sound card and go straight to phono in the mixer not sure how you could do this without it. i.e. For time control you would go from TT to sound card via RCA. then RCA out from sound card to line in on mixer therefore the output on your TT is already taken up. so how could another set of RCA's be used to go into the phono of the mixer?
-
oh wait just read up you do need multicores AND they did stop giving out multicores with the audio 10, as they wanted you to rely on the vinyl out feature of tsp which sucks dead doggs balls. hmmmm that sucks man. see iff anyone who only uses cdj's wants to give them up, or see if any dj stores still have stock as they used to sell them seperately
-
they were called multi core cables. you actually can wire it yourself without it i always have mine setup that way, all you need to do is flick the switch from line to phono on your mixer and you are good to go. give me a sec to picture it and i will let you know. note i am using an audio 8 but i assume it is the same
-
