i dont agree with her statement whatsoever, and it is totally elitist. "..a safe haven for those who didn't fit in..." pfft. for real! if the music is good i would want everyone to hear it. what makes anyone think they are so special becasue they were there first. why fear popularity. yes it opens the door for commercialised imitations, but it doesnt mean the good shit just disappears. if you dont like commercialised washed down things dont listen to it. and so what if good music/ good artist becomes popular. the norm is to chop them down and hate. sometimes its warranted because they are forced to make radio songs. but in the most the more popular someone is has no bearing on the musics quality. the music, to each persons ears, is good or bad independently. media acting like this is the first coming of dance music to the masses. go an look at ads or soap operas in the early t mid 90s, and see how many techno/ rave related things you can find.
