oh yeah while doing my nov charts it made me remember terrace martin. look him up, a producer and rapper in his own right. he use to play session sax for quincy jones and uses it heaps in his productions. and also look up ryan leslie, starts to get more into the rnb and hip pop, but very funky cat. anyways both of these are sticking to the funky hip hop tip, not breaks

hey sorry bud didnt get around to digging thru my stuff im sure there is plenty. so gonna do some quicky throw ups which will require you to actually digg yourself. on juno call up the other volumes of bombstrikes and booty breaks, some will however likely be too heavy. in terms of funky hip hop, going for ones that have a band always work well. just to name a few: the roots - but some of their stuff is quite deep and dark king farook - though some of their stuff gets quite rocky. off the top of my head, morning is a good track renegade funk train - this is what became of half of sound unlimited, oz hip hop OG's. they only had one album but it rocks. a few ballads on there though which may not fit your set kid confucius - but only their first album (they went more funk rock towards the end). i love this album, one of only a handful i can play from woh to go because the type of songs vary so much. havent ripped it out in a minute some old school stuff which i mentioned above: the native tongues 90's stuff - sample based hip hop. de la soul; jungle brothers; a tribe called quest; leaders of the new school; queen latifah. the solquarians crew early noughties stuff - soul hip hop collective. the roots, erykah baduh, q-tip, common, talib kweli, mos def dig through Jurassic 5's stuff too. oh and Tzu and don't discount just slapping on some james brown! anyways sorry i couldnt dig properly

everyday im snuffling. snoop dogg ft dat nigga daz, big tray dee - downtown assassins this was from snoop's sophmore which had people divided. it no longer had the west coast lowriding, 40 ounce, stoner vibe; and had moved into mafioso rap like their east coast counterparts, but with a production sound that would be associated with the dogg pound forever post the dr dre era. i didnt particularly like the album when it dropped. but five years later appreciated it more, and since loading on my ipod about six years ago keep finding gems on there.the album also introduced badd azz, one of my fave rappers of all time. having said that downtown assassins was one of two tracks that i liked straight off the bat (the other one was blueberry). the track is a standard story telling mafioso rap, but all three rappers are on point. the scarface copying spoken parts sound a bit played in this day and age but was normal back then (shit 15 years ago)

cool. ill give it a shot when i have sometime to mess about. right now its all working good as its setup and like you said elsewhere if it aint broke dont fix it but i will rip some vinyl this weekend. ive got a technotronic track that would be perfect for my next mixxx
-
neither. the stantons have a switch. im not that technical but i think it is because they are naturally grounded and then if you don't need it you lift the grounding via the switch. this is because they have the option of being phono out or line out.
-
ive got a reloop iq2. i get too much feedback if i ground while using tsp. so i only ground when i play through. but all good i guess i dont really have any need for the software pass thru then.
-
oh and now that i think about it, i could just do that. i.e. play the turnie as a turnie and not use the software pass thru; and just use tsp to record whatever input channel i have selected as normal. that way no boosting or messing with gains. derp.
-
hmmm really? not sure why. cant remember are you on techs or stantons or other? i have the st150's running on phono. and i set the audio 8 to phono (as i heard timecode works better on phono). so when i do the software pass thru (i.e. on the deck drop down box), the sound that comes up is quite soft. and i can either boost it on the audio box, or turn up the gains (be it in the software or on the mixer. out of laziness and not really touching the computer i usually do the latter). EDIT: oh yeah i should have mentioned i was talking about the software pass through. if i just switch my mixer to phono, ground the table, and pass through the audio 8 then it sounds normal. i just dont like doing this because your not meant to flick the ground switch on the fly.
-
sorry to hijack but i think you sorted right melody? russell, you ever rip your vinyl? if so do you just use your NI audio soundcard? ive been meaning to rip some stuff but never got around to it. i havent been too happy using pass through while using tsp. have to boost the sound up heaps on the audio 8 for the passthru deck, and add that to the natural vinyl static and it doesnt always sound too good. so i usually go either tsp or vinyl only, rarley mix n match. and for the beehatches who say post your own thread, i did a few years ago and no one said shit so in the words of cupe fark up

hey jonny is your chinese laundry gig that bass nectar one?

so are we going with one thread per month. and everyone chuck in their top 10. or one thread per person, which the person can update each month or one thread per person per month?
-
i havent upgraded for prob over a year, so skipped a few. anyways dont need NI now, lets just wait for spits review
-
most definitely read the forums and wait a week before any NI update they are absolutely shocking. did you guys stick with the previous update? pretty much everyone on the NI forums rolled it back.
-
oh yeah forgot i said id post the flyer about the thing this thurs http://www.invurt.com/2011/11/30/exhibi ... ay-sydney/

ali b/ nick thayer - bombstrikes vol 19 release which has 2 funky tracks in the same vein as those defkline tracks ill thunk about it more when i go home
-
i use vinyl russell. well time code vinyl in the majority, then a handful of 80's-90's hip hop, pop and house.(EDIT: though i dont play out) there are a few of us on here still using turnies. and sol, not sure how many clubs youve been to in the last 12 months but i can tell you in syd there are still a lot of turnies getting their wear. more than half of what i hit (though i am retired from the scene) are still using turntables. and thats in pubs, clubs, and even shops and cafes

we have about 15-20 regular posters why not have it a weekly chart? so its about 2 or 3 go's a year per person. don't know if it can be just soundcloud though? how about soundcloud, beatport, juno, or itunes links? i like the pick the next person but just cant pick anyone who's been in the last 10 or something. it cant be in the genres because i assume most people's 10 will cross genre's. my 0.02 dollars edit: what a knob jockey, i didnt read page 2. yeah i rection everyone who wants to do it do it monthly. and even review the tracks a bit. my other point about not just soundcloud stands though

okay, cupe as you know i had an idea of an interview which sorry i kind of lost interest in and didnt pursue quick enough and lets just say i missed my moment. one of the things that turned me off, is when approaching the DJ/ Producer one of the selling points is the size of our membership base as it does provide an outlet BUT at the sametime it also allowed a way for them to then promote ADJF to a wider community. like when Codes linked us up on his facebook. however, because DJHQ is behind the great wall, if anyone clicked on the facey link it will not allow them to see the interview. hence making it not much of promo for the site. so because of that IMO, i rection it should have its own section, and not behind the great wall. that does however mean we should attempt to fill it up better. maybe use reposts but also try to get more.
