  1. i don't like his tunes or his attitude =D
  2. So how did it all begin? you'd have to ask my parents, they wouldn't tell me Where did the name come from? email address of mine What gave you that initial push? music? Which came first:DJ'ing, Production or Promoting? record collector and guitar player and band member... then mixing ... then promoting and production Who's throwing the best parties at the moment? people at home Which other countries have you played/put parties on? none yet ... What was the first event you ever played at/put on? apart from house parties probably at a local collective of electronica enthusiasts regular friday night session What’s the best event you've played at/put on? a couple of night from a monthly i was part of running were fantastic ... but i think some of the best times have been at parties What was your first record you bought? U2 - Desire or Timelords - Doctorin the Tardis What was the first CD you bought? The Orb - Pomme Fritz Out of all the tunes you have, which one 'never fails'? can't tell you that now can it What's your favourite tune of all time? impossible to answer When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out? with more music So how is the Australian scene in your eyes at the moment? nothing too shabby .. depends where you're looking for what How old are you? old enough to know better but young enough to do it all again Where do you live? in a small cave What can you remember of playing/being at your first live set? the same feeling that comes from every subsequent satisfying gigs How big is your vinyl collection? by crate or by each piece? I certainly have enough ... but want more What do you think of CDJ's? damn bloody handy! Funniest thing that ever happened at an event? *shugs* Other DJ's you rate? i really don't know actually. It's usually more about producers for me. Most of the time i go to see "djs" it's because of the sounds they produce and the company they keep production and DJ wise. What are your feelings on the MC's? some need to learn when to STFU What do you do outside of the music scene? work? What advice would you give to up and coming DJ's/Promoters? follow your heart/passion and not trends. When you play is it mostly pre-planned or on the fly? mostly off the cuff If you could put yourself as the res DJ in any scene, where would you choose? res DJ in my own bar of course. where i set the music policy
  3. FAIL !!! DO. NOT. STEAL. MUSIC. i sincerely hope you're paying for your music and not downloading it all. You've clearly got the money to spend on a set of CDJs and a mixer so make sure you BUY your tunes that you play. scratchin on CDJs is easy done ... but for my liking it doesn't have the same tactile joy as vinyl. There's a myriad of battle records out there. Battle records are just records that are made for DJs to use. Full of samples, breaks and locked grooves. They aren't for playing from beginning to end. Most battle records will have your stock standard "freeessshh" and "aaahhhhhh" etc etc. I personally love DJ Rectangle records Now ... for CDJing ... im not sure what's out there as far as "battle records" go ... but really, you can scratch ANYTHING> Don't feel obliged to stay with the classic samples ... broaden your horizons a little and just grab anything that takes your fancy. Buy some old Public Enemy tracks (acappellas if you can get them) and carve up a little Chuck D and Flavour Flav. heck .. even record your own voice doing stupid things and stick that on a CD and scratch with that. it all comes down to spending time doing it. learning, practicing, experimenting and practicing more ... there are not short cuts. most of all ... just have some fun with it all!!!
  4. i enjoy a good scratch .. no doubt! i can't help but grab a record and give it a rub when some breaks are going down ... always working on getting better a it =D
  5. Hello Boys and Girls! Thought i'd post a couple of mixes here ... cos .. well .. that's what this part of the forum is for. I'm a bit of a genre slut and play all manner of tunes so i thought i'd post a couple of mixes that are quite different. First up is a dubstep mix from a few months ago. 6. Hot damn!! Nightmares on Wax is the biz ... i'd love to sit down with George and chew the fat. I need to get my hands on his new album (only got a 12" so far) His last album is just sublime top interview MK Ultra ... mad!!
  7. Reason FTW ;P
  8. don't even think about touching FX for a while ... they don't make you a better DJ. If anything they highlight how average a lot of DJs are. You don't even have to beat mix to be a good DJ DJing is about tune selection. Work on this first and foremost. Get familiar with your tunes ... their strucure ... their vibe. Thence once you've got a firm grasp on beat mixing you'll have a better idea of how to thread tracks together. It's your track selection that will set you apart from other DJs. Every DJ worth their salt can beat match in their sleep ... but that skill is worth nothing if you're pushing out the same set as the next guy comprised of the hottest and latest finds on Beatport.
  9. Vestax make some solid mixers ... but that mixer ain't a "house mixer" until you replace the line faders with pots
  10. whoa !! do i spy TWO 303s ... a 909 and an 808 you bastard ... lol i also recognise the TR505 as i used to own one of those that's a nice collection of old skool kit
  11. yes indeed ... i inhabit ITM ... and other forums
  12. I leave my decks connected to power pretty consistently (as do most people i know) and i've never come across the issue of it stuffing up the power supply just my 2c
  13. allo everyone ... i'm Funkedub and i like beer and records
  14. I'm going to agree with this one. Did a house party this weekend and just packed my bag with as many tunes as i could squeeze in (considering the crowd that would be there) and made sure i had plenty of beer Set lists don't allow you to work with the vibe of the party as it moves along
  15. Functional is a great label for breaks ... keep your eyes on it if you like breaks by the likes of Tayo and Dreadzone Picked up my Pink Sock a few months ago. Nicely twisted.
