  1. use an arpeggiator. Sure, that works, but I'm talking about creating harmonies outside the norm; adding extended notes; 5 or 6 note arpeggios
  2. Aha, sorry, my bad, still new to this site. Bit keen to get involved is all.
  3. Hey mate, where abouts are you from? I think I am what you need. I am a trained musician and know the music theory on how to write melodies, chord progressions etc... I've no tracks to show currently but am working with another DJ/Producer using Logic X and by the sounds of things he uses me for the same thing you're after. Basically, because I've got a trained ear I can analyse nearly any piece of music and work out what they are doing, in turn allowing me to analyse the structures of any genre to then reproduce them in an original way. Hit me back if you'd like to know more.
  4. "Understand chords, write arpeggios easily and make melodies sing. I can teach you how. Skype lessons or home visits if you are from Brisbane. Save yourself hours of production time with a few simple formulas." -TheoryDJ
  5. Hey Aus DJ's! I want to show you how to produce great music instantly on any D.A.W! I'm offering a 2 hour cram session which will teach you how to select the correct notes to write melodic lines trouble-free, as well as explain chord structures and give a better overall understanding of the musical theory aspects of your chosen program. This ISN'T a music reading class, but a whole heap of information to make your life easier and your music writing effortless! I know HEAPS of producers are wondering what all the black and white keys mean on their Midi keyboards or the best way to use those 16 pads you've probably got sitting in front of you. I can teach you everything you need to know in these 2 hours with follow-up appoints available if need be. I'm based in Brisbane but offer Skype lessons too. I charge $100 for this session which is really a small price to pay considering the thousands of dollars I've spent on music tuition to get the information I'm offering not to mention the price of my 2 Diplomas in Music and my current Bachelor of Music. If this sounds like you, get in touch and see the results, really. Theory DJ More information here https://www.facebook.com/theorydj2014.
  6. By the way, if you want more information about what I am offering I threw a quick FB page together, here's the link- https://www.facebook.com/theorydj2014
  7. Hey Wazza! It doesn't matter what your chosen software and hardware is as the theory can be used on any D.A.W. (and any musical instrument for that matter too!) I can show you how to apply the theory to your chosen software and even show you ways to best utilize any hardware you may own also. I like to start with a 2 hour cram session and hopefully that will be enough to set you on your way for $100. Some people are interested in further 2 hours sessions to follow up as there is a lot of information but I do offer 1 hour sessions after the initial contact for $50 an hour. You thinking Skype or personal contact?
  8. Hey AusDJs! Just seeing if anyone is interested in learning how to produce melodies and tracks better and faster with some simple theory training. I got the idea from a DJ/Producer friend of mine who needed help creating melodies better and wanted to understand how music worked in general. I've given a few lessons already and my clients are blown away by the simplicity and effectiveness of the musical knowledge I'm keen to impart. I'm based in Brisbane but would be willing to teach via Skype too! TheoryDJ
