  1. Cheers all, 'tis nice playing with just a low watt lamp and the led lights. Not exactly, the red ones with 100mm wheels are from A to B And the white ones are for the skate park.
  2. My top tip if buying 2nd hand off Ebay or Gumtree Reverse Image search Right click on picture > Copy image location > Google Images > Paste into search bar > Search by image Or on chrome: Right click on picture > 'Search Google for this image' The photo of the Turntables I bought were also used on an ad on the British Gumtree. Quite possibly the Aussie one stole the legit british one, or could be part of a massive syndicate (let your imagination/paranoia run wild!) And bank transfers should be THE warning bell to abandon ship.
  3. Built your workstation with a little help from the Swedish? Post it! Here's mine, I'm limited to the space in my room and i think i did ok. Expedit 2x2 (79x79cm) 21cm Capita legs Linnmon tabletop 120x60cm Dioder lights (comes with 4 led strips) I think i'll leave the tabletop floating as opposed to screwing an L bracket into it. I'm also going to add hooks to store cables and my headphones. The table comes in at 104cm tall and the TT makes it 114-116cm, perfect for my height (5'11) and my arms and neck don't fatigue as quickly. If you have the extra money, high gloss white would make the lights bounce better (i still have the plastic wrap on the tabletop for that reason), or buy a set of 4 30x30cm mirrors from ikea too. I'll tidy those cables soon.
  4. IKEA stuff: Expedit 2x2 (79x79cm) 21cm Capita legs Linnmon tabletop 120x60cm Dioder lights (comes with 4 led strips) Numark TTX & DXM06 I'll tidy those cables soon.
  5. Ok cupe, will do. I'll post more pics to the DIY section, but the lights are ikea too, dioder, i think, pricey but i was treating myself for what was to come... Probably could've saved money going to a joiner and asking for flat pack stuff (op shops had nothing this week), but the ikea stuff is tried and tested all over the internet. Hey wrxfriend, I'm in Melbourne, but wow thanks for the offer! I'll just have to save up again, and buy another 2nd hand ttx and 2nd hand mixer. Technics will just have to be for the future when i have some merit.
  6. Thanks Beatless and Cupe. It's just a very expensive lesson to learn ($500). Yeah, gotta push through, this'll make me wiser and stronger. Yeah Kodiak, I'm heading to the cop shop today. The bank account is most likely a money mule's, so we'll see. But gumtree has taken it down. It's nothing too exciting. Just the usual ikea stuff, though I've got limited space in my room. Most people get 2 Expedit 2x4 and pop them on legs (mine is capita 21cm) and a shelf for a laptop, but cos of my space, a 2x2 (79x79cm) and a 120x60 cm table top is enough. If you only set your decks up battle style than you can get a 100cm top, but it leaves no room for expansion. I wouldn't mind being a mobile dj, but without serato or traktor to play top 40s would be difficult. .. Does anyone know where dj scratching takes place in Melbourne? I like scratching over hip hop but would like to mix over anything (maybe not down the trance path)
  7. Hey all, I've wanted to take up scratching and djing on tt since having goes on a friend's cdj. At the moment I have a numark ttx and a numark dxm 06 I got on the cheap. The tt works, but my mixer only has one channel that has a working volume slider and recently the fader became kaput. I've been practicing on uncle scratchy's cop porn which I was lucky to find at a dixons and practicing over biz marke's just a friend instrumental, I don't have much in my collection to scratch with... And this week I dun goofed. I fell for the 'too good to be true' sale on gumtree which appeals to poor students like me and I took it. I reliesed it when his phone was off all the time. I started to snoop, I popped his phone number into gumtree to find he's selling camera lenses in a different area and under a different name. Then I reversed image search to find the photos being used on the uk gumtree. I even built a diy dj stand for when they arrived too. (Ill pop a photo up soon) So now im out of pocket and still with incomplete gear. So anyway, that's me. Initiation with a burn.
  8. Oh wow, what an interesting format. I like how it shows the velocity of how quick to scratch for particular pitches. Thanks. The timing could get a bit ambiguous maybe? Idk, looking at the small bar would only allow up to quavers, or is 1st verse 6th bar an example of semi quavers in this manuscript? Thanks for the link and videos!
  9. Hey everyone, I've just started up scratching recently on my 2nd hand TTX (only came with the S tonearm though). So far I'm just practicing baby scratches, but i got thinking, how relevant can drumming rudiments be for scratching? Has anyone tried making specific rudiments for Scratching? I'm currently writing out the ones i think will apply in Sibelius. If I assume 'R' was scratch away from self and 'L' was scratch towards self it could almost always work. Things such as multiple bounce and double stroke open roll may not be applicable unless used with a long sound maybe. But single stroke, Diddle, Flam and Drag rudiments, in theory, should work. Next step would be adding rests in with the mixer, but that's for another day Thoughts? Rudiments FYI http://www.pas.org/Libraries/PASIC_Archives/rudiment_1.sflb.ashx
