Bumped into this guy's music a while fucking back. I was sick of swearing in just about every fucking r and b song u hear. I dont know how many tracks I fucking have with AO on the end to remind me but it DOES make it hard to play sometimes...fucking. I think you get what I'm on about. This guy is classed as Christian Rapper. Sounds a lot like Eminem just without all the fucking swearing. lol Now I can play some good Rap round the house without worrying about what my 15 yo daughter may hear. Curious. Is this still regarded as a great DVD? IMO one of the best produced DVD's out there. Still holds it's own today... And who would have thought these were the same people who brought out tracks like Underneath The Radar yrs before. lol

Thanks Jarred. That confirms that there is a good chance at least IF anyone ever gets in trouble. As you say though make sure you have a correct setup before hand to make sure overloading does not happen in the first place of course.

If the building is reasonably new, the power points may possibly have the circuit number actually noted on them. So you can see at a glance if 2 outlets are on the same circuit. And When constructing a commercial building, the cable runs are usually in-line. Meaning, if the main board is at one end of the building, the sparky will run circuits 1 & 2 down one side of the building & circuits 3 & 4 down the other side. This is both time saving & also cost saving, as they are not wasting cable going from one side to the other to connect outlets to a single circuit. When power cable is around $1 per foot, they want to use as little as possible."

Have to agree with this from djpetered. IMO most mobile gigs don't really care too much about a perfect mix. Go to a club for that. The main thing is you have a good variety of music and I always try to throw in some unexpected tracks that they may not have heard for a while or wouldn't expect me to carry. Always try to play what's on the charts but then add your own flavour to make sure you don't sound like every other DJ. I charge 490 for a 5 hr show another $150 if I mc a wedding ( I make up a full wedding rundown for them via email, this takes a little time but it's necessary, I think I have already mentioned it a few times...don't fuck up someones wedding, they don't like it. lol.) Think about what they get: A person there for 5 hrs A complete light and sound show A comprehensive list of music A pro MC if required (An MC can charge many 100's $ alone) You have to load in and out A professional who will make or break the event We deserve what we are paid. Don't undersell yourself. Once you do a few shows make sure you get some testimonials if you think the night went off. Whack them on your website and if customers are hesitant on the phone when you mention the price tell them they may find cheaper but why risk not having a professional. Tell them you will make the night and you have great testimonials if they would like to check them out on your website.

there ya go. you just never know. You do what you can do but in the end it's up to them. IMO there's nothing worse than a pushy dj overusing the mic to get people up. Usually they'll get up if you are doing the right thing music wise, but they have to be ready, in this case 3/4 drunk. lol

thanks Fluffy, glad it doesn't sound like a myth. I just sent him this anyway... Frank you are the only person I can think of that may know this answer. I have been told that if djing and I have powerpoint overloading type issues that the best thing to do is find a powerpoint at the other side of the room as this may be on a different circuit and would lower the load. Do you know if this is true or not? In other words do most halls, function centres etc have one wall with one circuit and the other opposite with another new different circuit?

I was told that on most rooms etc that a second circuit can only be found on the opposite wall or other side of the room. So if you have issues to use a plug from the other side of the room to get a fresh circuit. Seems to make sense but I'm no electrician. Can anyone confirm this? Edit I have a friend who installs it wiring alarms and hifi type installs. I am sure he would know. Will update soon...

I will add a few more here as didn't see this thread. Note in 15 yrs of mobile djing prob had around a dozen major incidents and from each one you learn...FAST lol. Wedding I was mcing, had done all the formalities speeches and bridal dance luckily. Main amp blows during a set. Silence nothing I could say on mic either as no sound. The blood just drains from your face when these things happen. Try and fix for 5 mins before I decide I will have to drive 20 mins each way home to get a backup. Asked if wedd venue could play some music through their house system after I explain to b and g what I need to do. They are just in shock but I say I have go. Venue owner says they dont have a house system! So that just adds more stress to my insane drive home and back. Get back and they DID have a house system and thanks god SOME music was playing. Got the system fired back up again and finished the gig. This is the only gig I have ever done where they were not charged. DO NOT under any circumstances fuck someones wedding. They will NOT forgive you. :-) Lesson learn. I always take a backup amp to every gig I do. .................................................................................. Wedding out in Romsey area. Get there nice and early to play it safe as things can go wrong. :-) All good almost all setup when I notice that I have not brought my mixer which is normally in one of those silver hard carry cases. PANIC! Check time left, 1hr will take me 40mins each way to get back to Melb. Talk to function owner she says they can delay people coming up from predrinks for 30mins if that helps. Quick calculations and I reckon I can do it. No time to take trailer off back of car so drive both ways averaging 130kph. Stupid I know. Trying to keep calm thinking this IS A WEDDING!!!!!! Made it back and gig went ahead with just a 30min delay to come up from predrinks. B and G didnt even know the full story and dint know any difference. Lesson learnt. My case with mixer used to be in my study, so it could be forgotten. It's now kept altogether with the lighting effects in garage so it always goes into car with lights. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I do not like stress. Another tip I have learnt is that if you have a wife or other half and need to save time get them to grab whatever bit of kit you need and either bring it to you or meet meet you half way somewhere.
