Hey guys, I have 2 CDJ 2000 nexus and I'm looking to add a mixer and I'm not sure if I need to get one of the nexus series (900 or 2000) or not. This would mainly be for a home setup and I may end up taking the gear to gigs down the track but my aim would be to eventually play in clubs. So I was looking for some opinions on what I should get. If my main aim is to play clubs should I splurge for a 900 nexus so that I'd essentially have a club setup at home to practise on? Or am I better off getting one of the cheaper options to learn on that wouldn't be too big a jump from the 900 nexus? Thanks guys.

Rekordbox - Syncing changes from iPad/iPhone to Mac
Jpthegeezer replied to Jpthegeezer's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
Hey Mitch, I found the answer and yes there is a syncing capacity from the RekordBox app to your main Rekordbox collection, I found the steps on a Music Radar post. The steps are: 1. Make sure both your computer and the device are on the same network. 2. Click the Devices button and click the WiFi button in the bottom left and select OK on both the desktop and mobile device to activate the connection. 3. Right-click on the device and select Update Collection. This will transfer any changes made on the mobile device to your main collection. I'm gonna try it tonight. Cheers. -
Hi Alex, Thanks for your reply, I just got some CDJ 2000 nexus that I plan to use with Rekordbox. When I read about the 10 memory banks it sounded like those slots couldn't be fired off while the track was already playing, that's why I thought they'd be no use for me since I would need to be able to use them mid track. Or am I way off in my understanding there?

Hi Guys, I've been struggling to come up with a practical guide for assigning cue points for use with Rekordbox for preparing tracks to play with CDJ's. I come from a Traktor background where we have the luxury of up to 8 cue points to use, this gave me many options with my tracks and while there never was a need to use all 8 cue points it meant I could essentially remix a track on the fly by hitting each cue point. Over time I reduced the cue points down to 4 for a track breaking them down to the following: 1. Preset by Traktor to land on the 1st downbeat (there were times where Traktor would stuff this up but probably once every 100 tracks); 2. Point to mark where the mix in to the track would be complete (when mixing I would normally loop the 8 bars previous to this cue point and gradually bring the track in until the track hit the cue point at which the transition would be complete); 3. Point to mark the breakdown to either mix out or just a visual guide to show me when the breakdown was coming; 4. Point to mark where the mix out of the track would begin. Now that I am slave to Pioneer I only have 3 cue points to set and so I am a little stuck as to how I now set my cue points with a system for to use for each track. I believe that there is a natural cue point set at the beginning of the song so there would be no need for me to burn one of the 3 available cue points, am I right in this assumption? If correct it would mean that I could essentially use the same method I did with Traktor, it would simply be a matter of: Traktor Cue Point 1 = "Natural Cue Point set in Rekordbox" Traktor Cue Point 2 = Rekordbox Cue Point 1 Traktor Cue Point 3 = Rekordbox Cue Point 2 Traktor Cue Point 4 = Rekordbox Cue Point 3 Also, since I am in the process "rebuilding" my music library I have a blank canvas for setting these cue points and would love to know what you guys do with your cue points and if you follow a similar grading like I do? If there is a better method I would love to use it. Thanks guys I look forward to seeing your methods. Cheers, GEEZ3R.

Absolutely awesome post, I'm running with your setup on my mac now and couldn't be happier! -
Hi Guys, Stupid question time, I come from a Traktor background where I used the Traktor DJ app to set all my cue points which would then use my dropbox account and sync all the changes back to Traktor on my mac. This was freakin awesome as it meant that I could prepare my tracks while sitting on my fat arse watching TV. I've now joined the dark side and have CDJ's and I've set up Rekordbox, now I need to know if Rekordbox offers me the same prep/sync functionality. If I prepare tracks on the iPad app with cue points etc will those changes be "sync'd" back to my Mac when I connect my iPad back up again? Or am I resigned to the fact that I will need to prepare all my tracks on my Mac and all that the iPad app does is give me the ability to play tracks on CDJ's from my iPad when connected via WIFI? Cheers.

Thanks man, I'm gonna make this ar$ehole suffer, I've reported him to every internet authority going and the Malaysian cops want me to fill in a report and they'll nab him.

Wow thanks man really appreciate that!!!

Any time mate, I've been burnt big time and I've definitely learnt my lesson. Anything that sounds too good to be true and has the slightest ting of fish smell means that it's off in a big way. From now on my hard earned dollars are staying in this country supporting LEGITIMATE australian businesses in this industry.

I've got one, Equipment One Store in Malaysia. This dodgy f%#kwit has it all, customer reference in Australia using some way of diverting an australian phone number to overseas to fool you into thinking gear has actually landed in the country. They even have a fake freight company website to make you think your order is in transit and then they hit you with customs clearance fees, demorage costs, "DHL" costs the lot all through Western Union. I even had someone contact me who told me they were from an authority who were gonna arrest these people and wanted me to set them up with a payment and they took off with the payment instead. This bunch of scumbags have extracted a small fortune from me and I'm in the process of contacting the cops in Malaysia. Here's their details: The company details are as follows: Name: Johan Carlsson Company: Equipment One Store Address: Lot 6/7 Jalan Perpaduan Kampung , Puchong, Selangor, 4712, Malaysia. Website & IP: http://compatic.miiduu.com/ - IP Address 54.236.174.15 http://airaidlog.com - IP Address 185.28.21.36 Email Address: mc.djocky@outlook.com Phone Number/s: +60143649071 – Johan’s direct phone number. +601116677714 – Management Phone Number. Shipment Tracking No: 1381393273 - http://airaidlog.com/track.php DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM MALAYSIA, THESE GUYS ARE F$%KHOLES WHO WOULD STEAL FROM THEIR OWN MOTHER.

Hey Guys, I decided to lay down another mix, aptly called "Eargasm - Episode 1", the 1st in this series with Episode 2 to come out in October. It's a 43 minute 128BPM Electro Journey designed to give your ears an orgasm, if that's at all possible!!! I'm actually trying to land myself a gig I'm just hoping my age (36) doesn't hinder a promoter's ability to give me a chance. Here's the MixCloud Link: Track Listing: 1. Plastic Funk - Need Somebody (Original Mix) 2. Carli - The Weekender (Original Mix) 3. Gee & T - Shake It All Night Long (Chardy Remix) 4. Ian Prada, Gregoir Cruz - Got It! feat. Gideon (Extended) 5. DVBBS, Borgeous - Tsunami (Original Mix) 6. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano - Ultronic (Original Mix) 7. Antoine Clamaran - It's My Beat (Original Mix) 8. Cash Cash - Take Me Home feat. Bebe Rexha (Original Mix) 9. Jesse Voorn - Closer (Original Mix) 10. Lil Jon, Stafford Brothers - Hands Up (FMF 2013 Anthem) (Feat. Lil Jon) (Original Mix) 11. Dirt Cheap - Somebody Scream (Joel Fletcher Remix) Cheers Geezers, Birds and all in between, JPtheGeezer
